I’m so glad he’s dropped the idea of playing with two CDMs, i’m excited about this lineup. Hope it does well.
-
We aren't going to score enough with a system that plays two CDMs and Maddison on the left, that was proven in Puels reign. Hopefully Rodgers sees this and rectifies it soon though I'm unsure why he's making this mistake because its the same mistake that got Puel sacked. This team can't play with 2 CDMs in a possession style and score enough goals.
-
This formation change is not working, we need to go back to when BR first joined. This football is as bad as Puels at the minute. On a side note Maddison is not a winger.
-
Echoing the majority here but we shouldn't be starting with two CDMs against these. If we are then Rodgers needs to join Puel on the heap.
-
Surely they'll at least be covering his wages. I hope he does well there and they fork out at least 10 mill at the end of the season and we can finally be rid of him.

Happy with a point considering the last few opening games of the season. Wolves came with a clear plan and they are a good team, they looked to frustrate us and restrict the space and try to hit us on the break. They came here and set up against us like they would against any of the big 6 which is a compliment, not every team is going to be as good as Wolves at this and we should hopefully become quite adept at breaking them down.

Man Utd might be desperate for a striker come the end of the day - lets mug them off some more.
-
Exactly this. No disappointment here really, it was a deal that suited everyone involved. I guess it cushions the blow a little that despite Sky over hyping he is one player we could cope without, we are better with him in the team but we won't fall apart without him either. I think Utd fans that are hailing him as the second coming of Ferdinand are in for quite the surprise.
-
In all honesty they are paying 80m+ for a slight upgrade on Phil Jones. Maguire isn’t as injury prone and is definitely miles better with the ball but he’s prone to mistakes and lapses of concentration in the same manner as Jones. By the way when fit I think Jones is a rather good player. We’ve got a good deal out of this and I hope we don’t go out and blow it on a player who will be inflated by this fee as I think the options we have at centre half are good enough with plenty of development potential. Thanks for the service Harry.

Utd are really banking on the fact that they think Maguire is going to hand in a transfer request and force the move - if he really wanted it I imagine he would have gone and done that by now. I imagine he's in a place of if it happens it happens if it doesn't it doesn't - either way the interest in him won't disappear, he'll get his move sooner or later. If I were the club though i'd be thinking of going after Sky, they have purposely tried to unsettle our player all summer.

Glad he's finally found another club. Underrated and will be missed.

The Conservative Party have been so scared of Farage for the past 4/5 years they will be desperate to keep their voters away from him. They will now be pursuing No Deal as a first choice as they will do absolutely anything to keep in power and keep voters away from the Brexit party as they see that as the true threat and not a Corbyn led opposition.
-
Parroting Farage and Co. pretty much word for word. Plenty of evidence to suggest that we will struggle in Brexit regardless, companies have left/leaving or reducing workforce and outputs and our currency is nowhere near as strong as it was before the referendum and doesnt look like recovering any time soon. You don’t need an expert to tell you that things aren’t looking good. Blind faith and optimism in Brexit won’t pay the bills or put food on the table, despite what the Brexiteers are peddling. I feel sorry for people that have fallen for this claptrap but there is no arguing with them at this point, they want their Brexit and they will sacrifice pretty much anything to get it.
-
I believe they hope if they successfully unsettle a player last minute before the season starts we might be more open to selling for a slightly lower price. They will know about our deadline but they probably don't care and will press ahead regardless in the hopes of outwitting us. I personally believe that if it was Man City Maguire would throw his toys out and strong arm us into selling but not for Man Utd.

Nobody has got anything wrong yet because Brexit hasn't happened. All evidence however points to our economy tanking - the pound has been taking a beating for the past 3 years and is barely holding out. The only reason it hasn't plummeted completely is because we haven't left the EU yet so in the short term nothing much has changed and business resumes as usual. Long term however things look ropey as the current situation is unsustainable. All you have to do is look at the fluctuations in the value of the pound, the biggest drop was when the referendum result was announced and subsequent drops have been related to no deal becoming a possibility, each time its climbed significantly is when parliament has fought against No Deal. The minute we leave the EU with or without a deal its value will drop again, more so without a deal. I imagine it will recover eventually but not for a few years and not after we've all suffered and Jacob Rees-Mogg and friends have made millions off of it. I imagine we'll all be fine in the end and 'just get on with it' but personally I don't want to be poorer and potentially struggle short-mid term because of someone else's decisions fueled by fantasies of the empire.

Along with those the biggest thing is the WW2 comparative rhetoic from the leading figures of Brexit. Just look at Mark Francois last night and the Leave.EUs official campaign page's reaction to it, there are plenty more examples too. The WW2 rhetoric is very strong and it really appeals to a certain demographic in this country - Generally white british nationals that are 40-70 years old that grew up in an age where WW2 was romanticized and they grew up hearing stories from their parents/grandparents which painted Britain in an extremely positive light. Politicians know this as well hence why Boris is immensely popular despite his previous failings in high office.

I can see Woodward/Utd being completely arrogant and disregarding that deadline and waiting until Transfer Deadline day to force through a deal for a fee substantially less than we value Maguire for. I think they are putting all their chips on the fact that when deadline day comes, Maguire will hand in a request. In the meantime, Agent Sky Sports News will keep him unsettled.
-
And he will be cheered for it. I've heard so many people on the radio lately saying that they are willing to sacrifice their jobs for Brexit. If that's the case they should be the first in line when the inevitable cuts come. Both are cults just that the Brexiteers for the majority are united around the No Deal Ideology now whereas the Remainer cult is divided into several factions that argue among themselves as much as with Brexiteers. In fairness if times were normal and people were not so divided the government pressing ahead with a task which is the greatest risk to the economy and jobs in our lifetimes most people would be protesting and it would not be seen as a cult activity. We don't live in normal times however.
-
100% agree with what you've put here. Brexit has become a cult for its followers who refuse to accept all logical and factual arguments in how damaging it would be for the economy. They are determined not to lose to the 'snowflakes' and their reasoning is because we survived 2 world wars which were 74 and 100 years ago respectively. Times have changed but we have a huge following of people that are desperate to live action role play their war fantasies and Brexit is the closest thing they will ever get to an all out war and 'Snowflakes'/'Leftists' are the enemy they can all unite around. I think its inevitable we will leave. The remain side of the argument is not united and some prominent figures have admitted they won't accept another leave result regardless which will hamper the cause rather than aid it. That kind of rhetoric doesn't work for the remain side of the argument and only energizes the Brexit cult even more. Boris and his advisors has played a blinder here, he's targeted the Farage voter base which will be more than enough to see him through the next general election and give him a mandate. The remain side of the argument is too splintered and will spread their votes between 3 parties because the majority of the voters are too arrogant to put their grievances aside and vote for the 'greater good' as it were. Add to the fact that Corbyn is a completely ineffectual leader who is too preoccupied with flip flapping his views on Brexit and opposing Israel than actually being an effective Opposition leader which has crippled the Labour party and left them fighting amongst themselves. In the end its going to be a no deal Brexit which will cripple our economy like the last recession and the only people that will benefit will be people like Jacob Rees Mogg and his hedge funds and his ilk that will allow this country to become a tax haven for the elite. At least a good proportion of middle aged men will finally get to LARP their war fantasties... just it won't be fighting Nazis but fending off rats for rations.
-
Then the Brexit Party will ride in on that wave and hammer the final nail in the coffin. The UK is fast on track to becoming a 3rd world tax haven and it will take generations to fix the mess that all this will cause. All of this because a few privileged people didn't want to pay their fair share.
-
They are more spend happy than Utd at the minute so we'd probably squeeze a bit more out of them.
-
Actually in pretty much most cases when a player under contract 'takes a pay cut' to join another team they will still be paid the difference until the contract ends with the selling club for example if King were to join a club on 15k a week, Leicester would pay the difference until his original contract with Leicester ends. Clubs usually do this to try and save a bit of money and move a player on its usually either that or a 'mutual termination'.
-
Its not that he isn't good enough its that the price tag is too high for what we would be getting. If it were half the price then by all means snap him up. We are slightly hypocritical as we are demanding a world record fee for Maguire but that's the market we are in.
-
I'm sure we will have some extra cash considering if we sell Maguire that will cover everything we've spent so far. There is no way the club is daft enough to spend that amount of money hoping someone will stump up for Maguire or him staying fit to be sold. If we sell Maguire I imagine there will be funds available.
-
Matty James will see out his contract then retire at the end of it. He's finished I reckon, from a business perspective it was stupid to give him that contract. King is a Leicester legend but probably needs to drop down a league to continue playing first team football. Doubtful this will happen as no-one will match his wage, however he did earn his contract and should be allowed to see it out unlike James.
