  1. With the acceptance that we aren’t really going to compete i’d definitely be looking at players who could be a longer term project. Personally, I’d love for us to give Cameron Archer another crack. It just didn’t work out at sheffield united but I think that was the wrong club at the wrong time. There’s a great player in there but it’s hard to keep confidence when your club gets battered every week. Perhaps now is the perfect time to get him because villa will have doubts after that year. We could probably get him in for 10m now and one good year and he’s a 20m player… or it goes a bit like solanke where he’s a little underwhelming this year but grows as a player in the championship and you end up building the team around him. You don’t lose talent in one season and I still think he’s one that is going to be considered for england one day
  2. Life’s really not fair. Puel did a great rebuild and brendan comes in enjoys the success of it whilst slowly destroying everything. At the same time he leaves celtic in the worst position they’d been in for years. His punishment for that… going back to a rebuilt Celtic that have had the best recruitment for scotland since the henrick larson days, thanks to the aussie. Now he’s going to look really good as that team is hitting its prime and has real quality. He will slowly but surely start to worsen the club but before that effect kicks in, he will land a top 7 or 8 job back in the prem and the cycle will begin again. Hate that parasite but he knows what he’s doing.
  3. unfortunately not a player that ls going to keep you in the league. Might get to a higher level but not one that I thought was any good at burnley. You’d imagine the obligation would be based on staying in the league so it’s basically a naff loan signing. Fo the big clubs in spain not have any young strikers to send out on loan.
  4. I’m not sure anyone knows but from what people have said, it sounds like the philosophy of trying to play possession football like man city came from the owners. Vichai was the first to request it. So I think that gets passed down but there’s no evidence of a synergy in youth levels to first team. The formations get aligned but that’s literally it, our under 21s have played kick and run for a long while.
  5. doesn’t help himself does he. If i was struggling to get players in i’d probably be at least focusing on getting a youngster tied down to increase the positivity around the club. A deal for Alves or Nelson would be incredibly welcomed and at this stage we could actually do it… give it a few months and a big club comes sniffing or we lose alves to someone like brighton or villa. You can see it coming a mile off.
  6. Not quite what you describe. But he is the boss of the people that are implementing those ideas, I’m not sure quite how hands on he is with those aspects but it doesn’t sound like he overly interferes on the playing side nor is he responsible for scouting. He is however, in charge of contracts, sales (negotiation and decisions on who gets let go) and final say on the purchasing and negotiations. I’d imagine you have glover meeting with the manager, who gives him his requirements and needs. Glover produces a list of players. The manager probably selects out of the options and then rudkin comes into play to get that player to sign. I’m sure he steps in if certain targets are better value etc. The buck doesn’t just stop with him if course, the commercial side of the business is the worst it’s ever been. That might be due to making up for the failures on the transfer side of things but that falls on susan wheelan and any merit she had in the bank has got to be gone. I think the actions to raise more money are just pushing more people away and i know so many fans are now adamant about eating outside the ground and not giving the club an extra penny. if the kits had been nice this year… i’d still be not purchasing because it’s not on my family to recover the money these clowns have lost
  7. problem is they won’t be at all. They never realise the gravity of the situations we are in. It’s all positivity and the famous ‘it will all be fine’. I very much doubt we have a game plan for missing out on 2 or 3 top targets… with the speed we operate we will be lucky to get players by january… but looking forward to eventually giving up and going back to jeremie boga to be turned down again
  8. Get rid of rudkin and pick up this guy and we’d be back in business…
  9. don’t ask you don’t get. At least they’re trying to move. I would have had doubts before but 20m would be a good deal for him.
  10. i’d rather play danny ward.
  11. what I find funny is people saying things like, don’t worry it’s just preseason…. while our competitors are looking like this (see video) We look miles off what the opposition will be and most other clubs are missing key players…. we are missing a 37 year old striker. You’d be naive not to realise how god damn awful this season is shaping up to be.
  12. going from philogene to mcateer is going to sting like a hornet
  13. The caveat to this though, is that newly promoted teams tend to get business done early … at least the key parts. You might pay a little more but the preparation is needed more than ever. We are acting like we’ve never been relegated, there’s just an arrogance around the club.
  14. it’s good thing we got money for maresca because i’m pretty sure he would have walked by now
  15. i thought this the thread was going to be about how the mods are forcing a recommended post and choosing the rank of the transfer links 😂 should be, i’m already annoyed by it
  16. We do tend to try to recruit groups to help with the club culture. Wouldn’t be surprised at all to see a few spanish speaking players through the doors. Although after a year in london perhaps his english is good?
  17. as terrible as our recruitment links have been i think the pure lack of any links to any of the players we need to flog speaks volumes. Their agents can’t even be arsed to pretend someone’s after them. We only have the ability to sell something we don’t want to… which is exactly how a bad club operates. I’ve never known a club so bad at getting rid of unneeded players and it’s been a problem for about 8 years now Even dross like everton seem to be able to get people out the door
  18. 9 times out of 10, it’s because they are an attention seeking bullshitter
  19. I never fully let go of the thought that one day we’d have Shakey, walsh and pearson back in charge again. It’s a really tough thought that he wont be back with us again one day
  20. He was good for them, amongst a shower of shite. If anything he proved that the prem was his level for me …. sadly you couldn’t say that about anyone else in their squad
  21. Damn that hits hard. I saw the lcfc logo go dark and new there was some bad news. One of the nicest guys in football a true gent and inspiration to coaches
  22. I think the player already did his time at a relegation threatened club. It’s fair for him to want to step up and consequently was aiming for a club pushing for europe… and simply he is good enough for that. We are not that team anymore and I don’t see that as insulting just realistic from him. I just hope that we didn’t waste much time with that because a quick phone call and it probably would have been known that he wasn’t keen if the agent is this candid
  23. if we all think it then of course external parties will see the same. Future looks bleak and bookies have priced as as a certainty to drop… obviously history shows that’s not always the case but I think we are all aware our standing in the game is low right now and it’s on the management and directors to convince players otherwise
  24. yeah, i agree with this. I regret snubbing o’hare right now
