Nah this so enfuriating. How is a club like burnley going up in this psr state. Completely broken system

We’ve really dodged a bullet. “Why rangers” then proceeds to pretty much make it me me me. Couldn’t resist telling everyone about how much interest he had hahaha what a complete melt

Development/Youth Squads 2024/2025 Thread - U18/U21

getting worried there’s nothing being said about evans signing I heard some people say they think the monga deal is gentlemanly agreed and he’ll sign it when he turns 16. This would be some excellent news -
I’ve always had a soft spot for Rafa
-
Yep. Both not what we want or need
-
The carrick pragmatism….. there are many examples just like this
-
Hope he smashes Brendan tbf
-
Talk sport mate. If it was him posting on here I’d believe it, but as part of their media team… take it with a grain of salt.

First bit of my premonition came true haha. Brentford
-
McKenna is the number one target to replace Thomas Frank supposedly. We need to get a move on
-
Quite disrespectful to dyche that. he might not play beautiful football and that’s why we can fairly not want him but he’s a miles better coach than someone like carrick and Martin. He’s not done a bad job anywhere. Maybe didn’t have Everton flying but they were always safe. Got Burnley promoted twice. established in the prem and fighting for top 7. kept Everton up in a season they could and should have dropped. Anyone he would go to in the championship instantly becomes a contender imo.
-
My gut feeling is that we could get him today, but because of our delays, we will wait too long, McKenna will go to Brentford and Rohl will join ipswich. Rangers will decide on DA and we will go back to Martin. Essentially our worst case scenario is about to unfold…. And to make matters worse, cooper is going to boro who we will get on the opening day and they will pump us 3-0 Please please please let me be wrong!!!

Me too. The problem is there’s been scarce evidence that Okoli is good defender. He’s been as much of a liability as faes so far if we are honest with ourselves. the only hope for our backline is Nelson and souttar tbqh

As much as you hate how we’re run, you can understand people not wanting to give up their main hobby. That’s why protesting by not going just isn’t realistic for the majority of fans
-
If we got promoted and he had been just a squad player, at his age you’d easily sell him next summer for 6-7m. It’s really risk free at that price
-
But they will laugh in the face of psr for a few years. I would get why they’d cash in now when their stock is still high. Especially if one of them was making the others look better than they are. They will really have to back themselves to get the window right though but I suspect they will
-
I guess because nobody knows how good he can be. If he were to bring us wonder kids from real madrids youth system on loan, we could be laughing though.
-
What’s actually gone on with Cifuentes, they sacked him because he was interested in the west brom job? But then west brom weren’t bothered? And nobody is keen on him? Seemed like he did a fairly decent job at qpr
-
I know this is a hugely unpopular opinion but faes is actually ideal in the championship because of how high he wins the ball. He’s the most aggressive cb we have and yes he’s a poor defender but he recovered so many ball for us at the half way line last season. When we’re attacking he’s our most effective defender because of that. Faes is more likely to help us achieve our goal next season than okolli would. *Ducks for cover*

2m and we’re not in for him?!?!?!
-
I think Fofana had over performed. Hard to tell if he just can’t get back his best because of that injury or the former. But had he not been injured, there’s always the chance he did a soyuncu where he performed poorly and we don’t get money for him. In that world imagine how screwed we’d have been for psr?
-
I was wondering where on earth that fee came from, but I had no idea he was only 23. I’d assumed he was 26/27 already. Still a madness that we couldn’t scrape together any decent money for Barnes, Maddison or youri the year before
-
There certainly is risk with all the candidates but that’s why I’m many ways reputation will have to play a factor. With Rohl I think it’s a case of doing what you need to in order to survive… a very good sign as if we get promoted you’ll need to make some sacrifices in order to survive. There were question marks over LR’s hull side but when you look at life without him that’s a good indication that he knew the player limits. They couldn’t play the constant attacking football because they simply weren’t good enough. in both cases I see positives in some of those negatives. The decision always has to be weighted by what’s possible and maybe Rohl and LR aren’t actually plausible. But I know until they’re ruled out I’d be looking at them first. I try to think about how I’d feel if a rival were to appoint the manager. If McKenna left for a better gig and Ipswich were hiring Rohl or Liam, I’d be having dread and envy. if they were hiring TC, I’d think… hmm interesting and wouldn’t consider them much of a threat. if they hired Martin, I’d be elated

I believe you go for the most qualified for the job you need done. They don’t need to have vast experience and I fully supported the recruitment of Enzo and actively called for it. We need someone capable of a rebuild who has a vision and clear philosophy. that has to also align with the players we have and the direction the club wants to go in. For me that rules out dyche.. he ticks some of the boxes but his style is not what our ownership want, so it’s a non starter. For what we want, possession based, I hope we have a more dynamic person who prefers to attack with a focus of winning the ball back quickly to maintain the possession rather than keep it at all costs. Ideally someone who doesn’t have a visible glass ceiling; as id like the manager to be here for the next 5 years if possible. Rohl, rosenior, (will still was) and quite a few of the other names mentioned are fits . And in my opinion are substantially less of a risk than TC. Manning is another example of a very good option but not someone I’d take the risk on at this time. You might be right and cleverly might end up being the best of the lot but would you gamble the clubs future on that, based on a short stint at watford where he’s not actually achieved anything . If you look at the watford squad and compare it to the Sheffield Wednesday one…. You make the point well… Rohl was just 1 point behind with a league 1 squad in turmoil.

Because we likely paid a significant sign on fee which may have been around the 5m mark or higher and his wages would have now dropped 30-50%. So financially the package may work out about the same. He’s got a big profile, I’m sure someone will take a chance on him.
