Disagree personally. I think Macia is massively over rated by our fans. I think Glover when tasked with bringing in more obscure unknown signings has got more right than wrong. Where we’ve fallen short is when he’s been given a very short leash (premier league proven, out of contract, in our budget etc) or clear and obvious manager picks (skipp / casadai) even some of his historical work matches this. I’ll always be on board with someone who signed payet. I am pretty certain that he’s better at signing creative players than defenders though and if you look historically the defenders he’s gone after are the weak links

I hate comments like this because it oversimplifies everything. A good signing isn’t to do with him, nor is a bad one, it’s all about the terms that are offered. Whilst he plays a part by selecting the personnel in the scouting team he’s not the talent finder. it is his job to say someone’s too old, the contract they’re demanding doesn’t make sense or to haggle a smarter deal. what you should really be asking is how many Bilals have been missed due to our incompetence to negotiate in both a timely and sensible way?

Honestly think anything taking his wages is a good deal at this stage. Baffling that anything would have been rejected, request to fine tune sure but a flat out rejection would be utter insanity

He was one of the better players under smith, had a good season at Sevilla and has clearly developed his game and you can tell he is now suited to English football. He’s only 25, well worth at least a new contract if we don’t get a suitable offer.

Look I know this is controversial and it was unthinkable a few weeks ago… but… if ruud doesn’t rate Facundo, and he clearly doesn’t. We should consider sending him back. Brighton would prefer it. The player would prefer it and we can get someone the manager will actually use. I couldn’t rate him more and genuinely said to people he was the most talented person I’ve seen since Mahrez… I really did believe he would go on to huge things… but ruud has broken him as a player and we are just wasting him. Over the course of the season you make your own luck… which is exactly why coopers was going to run out (already had by the end) and he was just going to fall to where he should have been with us. There is absolutely luck in football, the better team won’t always win. The stats very clearly show we didn’t deserve the points we had at the time and anyone with half an ounce of analytical skills could have told you where we would have ended up over a full season.
