Nacho would poo poo that FT logic
-
A lot slating the purchase of Skipp & deemed a not necessary position over a striker, but without Skipp the new striker would be pointless because we’d never be able to keep the ball long enough to get it to him 🤷♂️
-
1st Walters & now Jones to leave will put England back again just as they were starting to make progress on closing the huge gap to Ireland, this gap will now expand further with Jones mostly likely following Walters to IRE rugby.
-
Very surprised we didn’t see another contract extension prior to him going, he will spend 1yr in SCO then only have 1yr remaining on his current deal this could come back to bite us 🤷♂️
-
But that’s the dance, offer £10 they say £25 counter offer of £15 & end up settling on £20 which is probably what the seller wanted
-
We shouldn’t be selling for 5m, a loan and a full seasons run of games is what he needs. Hes contracted till 2028 same timeframe as Broja who has been given a chance and not really produced himself yet going / up for 30m 🤷♂️

The gap between Winks/Ndidi to Facunda/Vardy is to big and opposition are just walking through unhindered & then just able to restart attacks when the ball is pumped forward from our defensive line as no one there from ourside. Then when we have the ball we are so deep and that lack of numbers means we can’t make any headway up field because we have no options. We need the extra body that Ricardo provided last season which allowed for triangle's & options to progress upfield, currently it all seems to be just pump it…unless @StriderHiryu maybe you can explain is this extra body meant to be coming from 1 of the 2 CBs being asked to push up to support? which then gives the issue of yesterday where JJ has to slide along to cover the central hole at the expense of opening the width to opposition? We all saying we need that CAM but unless the gap between the 2 6s and the CAM is narrowed we could put Messi in there but he’d fail to produce. Hopefully 2 players comfortable with the ball in Winks & Skipp played together might allow us to play a little more, something needs to change because we are getting swamped, Spurs for sure then Fulham yesterday always seemed to have the extra body to just bypass us.

Can only assume they thought there was a good chance Faes was going to move on 🤷♂️
-
On bench today so assume nothing doing on this as no way they risk injury with a week left of window….although probably won’t get on and they also have Ramsdale & fast Eddie on the bench so who knows

VK now needs subbing as AT will attack him now

We often see comments like this about how this club, that club, are doing everything we used to be etc etc it’s usually about Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth probably now add in Ipswich, but are they? Take Brighton in their 7 seasons in the Premier Lge they have broke the top 10 just twice where as we broke it 5 times in the same period including 2 consecutive 5th place finishes, the other 2 times we were relegated and not played in the same division & they only got their 2nd top 10 in our relegation season, they didn’t even gain on us when we were out of the division. When we were like Brighton we won the league, got to 1/4 finals of a Champions league regularly made top 10. At some point thou a club needs to over extend and tweak the model if they really want to cement a constant threat for advancement on those top 6 positions & it seems contradictory to say it given the sentence I’ve just written, we did that prior to our top 5 seasons. We held onto the players that we’d normally sell to keep the cycle of staying afloat in the premier league, we had already started to blow the wage brackets due to success rewarding and this was further blown by trying to keep the likes of Tielemans & such like we also employed a, like it or not, higher grade manager that was able to polish off what we had, we were rewarded with the 8th (highest position other than 15/16) & 2 top 5 places, also add in an fa cup (& community shield) but it was the start of the downfall because our income couldn’t match the outlay. Brighton are around 2yrs behind us in the footballing cycle, they are now into their 8th premier season & are now trying to spend their way, currently €171m way over anything we spent, to advance that success of a 6th and 9th placing in 7yrs, their wage bill will be climbing & this is where as we know it all goes wrong but time will tell. I know some would say I’d rather be in the league than yo-yo’ing or going bust but at the same time will knock clubs like Palace, Fulham, Wolves & Everton (weirdly Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford are excused on this list) by saying “what have they achieved they are nothing clubs I’d rather have the 10yrs we have had….” ironically if we had marked time and continued in the same manner after the 16/17 season we would be bundled into that group of teams…which is it we want 🤷♂️

Look who’s turned up at Villarreal and scored the the winner, Ayoze
-
“Would Celtic accept £26m…….”” That’s what I’m told Brighton are offering…….”
-
Does that mean The ladies team will be in for another shocker this season living it up at Belvoir drive then 🤷♂️

Ipswich on the way to spending £100m and will probably pass that but as we know that’s not really the problem, it’s the wages, they now have an additional 12players on premier league wages that they never had before, they probably have also had to bump the wages of the existing players as reward for promotion and so the nasty circle of PSR begins…
-
More fool any player that signs for Chelsea really, whether you back yourself to nail down a position the fact is they are still buying with 42 ‘1st’ team players on their books, no manager is going to work with that amount of players so why go & before it’s mentioned, it’s very easy to say money but would you like to go to work as a 21yr old but never show your talent or be part of something & be stuck 🤷♂️ I’d rather go somewhere for a little less money on a shorter contract and showcase myself which will bring the rewards and long term stability, SAF had it together, earn the right to draw the wage!

Whilst the change has been around for a long time can we use these next 4 nights getting our heads around that football is no longer about a starting #1 to 11 who on paper are your best 11 players at the club but acknowledge its about squads. The introduction of 5 subs has changed managers thinking whereby they might save some of their better players to come on & finish the game when the opposition are tiring & equally bring on better defensive players when holding on. Every game they can swap out HALF the outfield players (lastnight we could have made 6 changes) so now there isn't & there shouldn't be this you are my #1 LW, RW, AM etc. 5 Player changes can switch your entire tactic from ultra defensive to ultra attacking & vice versa & then anything inbetween. It also gives you the ability to manage players to last an entire season without burning out your so called #1 & have to rely on an understudy for lengthy periods & how many times do people go "like the look of the starting 11 but that bench is rotten" the bench is there to give you options & should contain game changers on it, not all the kids picked last in PE. The start of every matchday thread is a yawnfest of tripe reeled out week on week about how this player hasn't been picked or why is that player in or he is being treated so unfairly i wouldn't blame him for leaving etc
-
Nor did he 😂
-
I do not want to ever see Soumare as 10 ever again Steve
-
Starts with the manager 🤷♂️
-
The pass from Vardy wasn’t great
-
New season but same old start to a match day thread 🥱
-
Liverpool coming into the equation now so all a moot point. Only failing is not seeing potential whilst at OHL as mentioned.

Wissa celebrating as if he’s just scored a worldie
