I think you're right - it's not actually that good in terms of quality, though we certainly do have players that would walk into most Championship sides. I think the main issue is the lack of any kind of cohesion - there are so many teams in this league that are better than the sum of their parts, I think we're worse than the sum of our parts and this lack of togetherness/cohesion is the main reason.

Just read an article about Hearts start to the season since Tony Bloom bought into the club - they've signed players from all over Europe for pennies and they're smashing it. Improved across every aspect of the pitch. Bloom has got to be one of the best owners in football right now, he has such a clear vision for how things need to be run and the strategy to get there - when you contrast that with the way this club is run, it's very, very depressing. Genuinely think we're stuck with Top for quite some time, probably years and years, and even if he does sell up, I don't hold out any hope at all that we'll get anyone better. What a grim state of affairs.

Can't recall a single good game we've had under him so far. Don't think we can afford to sack him, don't think we'd bring anyone decent in, don't think the players are good enough if we did manage to pull a rabbit out of the hat.

I watched the episode of The Crown which covered Aberfan not long ago, absolutely harrowing and stuck with me for a while.

I hate how dogmatic managers have become, it's this Guardiola mentality which he has inflicted the entire game. Managers HAVE to have a style, now, and that's the only way they're willing to play - they would sooner lose games playing to their system, than abandon it to win. Football is such a fluid game, opponents are always different, players are always different, it's a game that requires pragmatism - I think Martin is the most extreme example of 'well the system is the system'.

The absolute negligence of not signing a decent striker after JV left this summer is really starting to show. So many shots, so few on target - says we are not getting into areas where we're likely to score, and we're just hitting and hoping. Ayew can't do the job, Daka is a busted flush and Caranza looks to be a baffling signing.

I thought we actually looked a lot more fluid in spells? Draw probably flatters them more than us. Some nice attacking movement. Still work to be done, but felt for the first time like we were more in control of a game and less on the back foot - and that's that first decent team we've played too. Still a lot of work to do for Cifuentes, but I think if you swap out Mav for Monga and Soumare for Ramsey, that's a good side.

I think if we started Monga, we win that.

I actually thought Ramsey looked great for those first 20 mins - and then an overenthusiastic challenge and an easily influenced ref put an end to it.

Honestly we can no longer afford to play Skipp and Soumare in midfield - they are just so awful. We don't even have to - play Winks, play JJ, play Ricardo there, play Page - we can't let these two footballing terrorists get any more gametime.
