Foxes Trust Reform - the final step
Ricey replied to Foxes Trust Reform's topic in Leicester City Forum
I haven’t been involved with FT Reform, but I will be standing for election. I’m currently part of the Comms working group within the Trust, working to improve communication and engagement. Hopefully everyone has noticed some improvement in that regard recently. However, it’s clear to me that changes at the Trust are required — and fast. There is still significant resistance and friction at board level toward changes that would help the Trust modernise and adapt to the situation the club currently finds itself in. I would also like to see the Trust hold the club to account more visibly and more directly when it is required. I urge everyone to join the Trust this weekend so that you can have your say. The Good: Nelson, no Soumare, no Faes and I’m not there. The Bad: Thomas, Skipp and a new formation with little time to train it. The Ugly: Painfully immobile attack and Vestergaard as captain after refusing to play for us last season.

I've seen about 10 different suggestions for protests and that in a nutshell is the problem. Leave after kick-off? A lot of people won't want to travel just to do that. Sit-in after the match? If we've won there will be no appetite and if we've lost most people will be gone by full time. Disrupt the match? So few people will do it that bans would be likely. Make our voices heard during the match? Ha, good one. Apathy is far stronger than anger at the moment. Even the clappers aren't turning up with the regularity that they used to. I think any protest has to lean into that. Pick a match with a terrible kick-off time (not hard) and then encourage people to boycott either the entire match or just for the first 10 minutes. The lazy and the apathetic will find that the easiest thing to do.

Textor is a complete charlatan. He'd run us (even more) into the ground.
-
Yes. I think reputation and stature is very important to them.

I still think “King Power Out” is potentially more damaging. Most people outside of Leicester won’t know who Aiyawatt is, but everyone knows who King Power are. He might be prepared for his personal image to take a hit, but he’ll be more sensitive to King Power’s.
-
It needs to be Aiyawatt or King Power. Yes I know King Power don’t technically own us, but in reality they do and the companies image is everything to ‘the family’.

It’s not good, but changing managers again will only make things worse. The board and the squad are the real problem, plus would you trust this board to appoint someone that can sort all of this out? Vent your anger at the players and at the board, they deserve it more.

Pretty much the best plausible lineup possible. Would have preferred more academy players on the bench but I think that will come.
-
Sacking him just sets us back further. Another payout, no doubt another list of horrific replacements and then a new man coming in ready to give players another fresh start, just because of their 'calibre'. It will get us nowhere.

Same team as first half against Portsmouth but Okoli for Faes. It's not the game for throwing in teenagers. -
Last night was on him, but the the main problem is the squad. I know people on here love the idea of him filling the team with academy players, but as we've seen with players like Page, sometimes they just aren't ready yet. He had to rotate last night because of Ricardo's, Carranza's and Ramsey's fitness issues, as well as Monga's age, which means to a certain degree he has to turn to some of the dross that should be long gone. However, he's going to need to find a balance between the two or else the fans will turn. Okoli for Faes is an obvious one, eventually look to bring in Nelson and even moving Skipp ahead of Soumare in the pecking order. Essentially prioritise building for next season, rather than players that don't want to be here and certainly won't be next season.
-
I get why he has to rotate Ricardo, Ramsey and Monga, and the other options are horrific, but it’s inexplicable to keep picking Faes. Detested by the fans and at fault for a goal a game. It’ll be his downfall.

He is quite far down my list of problems. I’m not enamoured with the style of play, but there are glimpses of promise. I thought we were excellent first half. He speaks well and generally seems to ‘get it’. I just can’t look past the hand he’s been dealt. A woeful squad, most of whom shouldn’t still be here, with only 3 outfield additions that are still short of fitness due to when they joined. Could he have cast more of them off? Probably, but there are far too many to make that a blanket policy. Could he have integrated youth a bit more? Possibly, but relying on a bunch of teenagers comes with its own problems. The average age of our starting lineup last night was 24, which is still pretty young. I just think we are so badly hamstrung by the malaise that has set in across the entire club, plus a squad that is for the most part full of players with bad attitudes and/or poor ability. Nothing gets better until we cure the real disease at the heart of our football club. Chopping managers every few months only steepens our decline.
-
I don’t know, it’s easier said than done. Page, for example, looked way out of his depth earlier in the season. I would have been bedding in Nelson right from pre-season though.
-
How? Put more young lads on there who clearly aren’t ready yet?
-
80% of the crowd only make a noise to berate the ref or opposition players.
-
They aren’t just any gambling company though are they.
-
Can’t blame the manager too much. We started the second half terribly but he tried to make early changes to resolve it. The real problem is the players he had to choose from off the bench…and that’s not on him. Most of the heat should be on the players and the board.

Susan Whelan.

I'd argue the optics of this are worse, after a few months of no sponsor.
-
There is an awful lot that she takes a large responsibility for. The financial mismanagement, the 3 PSR breaches, the lack of communication, the lack of a strategy, the countless shady betting company deals, the failed shirt sponsor, the failed stadium redevelopment, the atrocious fan engagement, the season ticket card fiasco, the constant push back on anyone that tries to create an atmosphere....I could go on forever. HOWEVER, this is not good news. It's helps to solidify both Top & Rudkin, giving them more power and more say. This doesn't end well.

How much he cost is irrelevant at this point. His passing is poor, that is clear, but he did do really well for the goal. With Daka you have to look more about what he does for the entire team, rather than get frustrated by his technical ability. His movement and energy give the central defenders a lot to think about, as opposed to Ayew who only every drops off and then tries to take too many touches. Last night Daka was making regular runs in behind, creating a bigger space for BDR and James to work in or Fatawu to cut into to. He was always on the move, which ultimately created the space for James's goal. He presses like mad and if/when he loses the ball he does everything he can to win it back. At one point he chased all the way back to edge of his own area to try and stop a counter. If Marti really wants us to be a high pressing team then Daka can do that, Ayew and Carranza can't (by the the looks of it). Has he been a flop? Of course. Should the club have prepared for Vardy's departure better? Abso-****ing-lutley. But the balance of the team is so much better with Daka in it and he looks like he wants to fight and scrap. I'll take that over the other options.

At fault for the goal and the heads straight down the tunnel at full time despite Marti telling him to clap the fans. Sling him and his dog back to the U23’s.
-
People cheering the Daka sub don’t understand football. We looked so much better having a striker who was making runs, pressing hard and generally acting like a no.9 should. He’s not perfect but he worked his balls off and got a great assist. Ayew on the other hand showed what he’s about when he came on.
