Decent squad. Bit surprised he hasn't called up Mitchell of Palace or Lewis Hall as we have no fit LBs. Might have been an idea to look at one or both of them in the upcoming friendlies. Not having a natural left back in the absence of Shaw looks a big gamble for me and an obvious area of weakness for opposition teams to exploit.

Bayern talking to Thomas Frank, according to internet sources....

Forgive me, I am very late to this particular party, and I'm certain there'll be posters who know a lot more about this than me, but I've just spent the last couple of hours tying to educate myself on what the 115 counts actually entail. Having read some genuinely fascinating articles, the conclusions I've come to, is that the cheating runs far, far deeper than I thought. The other conclusion I've drawn is that I genuinely believe football is ****ed if Man City can't be pinned here. That's not me being dramatic btw, that's a logical conclusion if essentially clubs are now allowed to operate outside of the sports laws with no recourse. I don't think I'd really grasped how significant this is for English football. There's too much to even summarise here, but these articles are a good (if frightening read). So many things here defy belief, not least the influence Man City have over CAS - how can that even happen? Thought I'd post this outside of the Premier League thread as arguably it's a significant topic for the sport as a whole. Apologies if already posted somewhere.

A player we massively overpaid for. Surprise surprise!
-
All depends on what sort of fee we could get. Which I'm guessing wouldn't be much, given his contract situation

Ah, bless them. They've got **** all else to celebrate. Can't you just let them enjoy this loss?

Ange is all fart and no shit, isn't he?

Hopefully a CB with genuine pace is on the shopping list -
Good player. Would suit us, IMHO

I hope you're right, mate

Danny Welbeck signed a new deal with Brighton

If he stays and a bit of the deadwood 'running' the club are sent packing as a result - I'd be happy with that. This is just a Tweet from a very hit and miss journo, though

Sheffield United didn't spend anywhere near enough to improve a poor squad. Burnley spent loads but recruited poorly having gained success by loaning loads of promising youngsters when they were in the Championship. Luton gave it a really good crack, but probably didn't expect to go up, and arguably weren't quite ready to. Not sure there's any more to it than that TBH

That's a shame. Always thought Hughes was a really tidy footballer who likes to get stuck in. Loads of PL experience, too. Oh well!

Just had a listen. As you rightly say, absolute Enzo PR. It's pretty simple IMHO, he needs to decide if he's committed or he isn't, in which case he should take one of these many lucrative offers he appears to be resisting on a daily basis. We saw the damage it did when Brendan wasn't fully committed. That said, I actually completely agree with him if he says there should be better people behind the scenes. I back him 100% on that score. The club have been poorly run for the last few years. If there is poẁer struggle, and Enzo wins, he could be doing the club a huge favour.

There are some pretty solid Premier League performers on that list. This would be total shift from our usual recruitment model of buying young players with sell-on potential, but there are a few players who would probably do a decent job for a year or two: Will Hughes Fabian Schar Ola Aina Steven Alzate Danny Welbeck ... could all do a job for us, imho. With the restrictions we face around transfers, we have to look at a few of these sorts of signings, I would have thought.

Everytime I see him play, I wonder how Lucas Digne has played for so long at this level. He's crap

We've tried for Elneny a couple of times before, haven't we?

Such a shame he didn't kick on. Looked to have real potential when he first broke through. Remember a home game against Liverpool at the KP, and he was excellent in his one on one duels with Mo Salah - there is a player in there. I feel for him as he came through as the rot was well and truly setting in. Rodgers left him exposed a few times, asking him to play as a wingback which he patently could not do. I really think his confidence took a battering and he's never really recovered it. Going to Sheff Utd looked like a bad move, and so it proved. He looked pretty competent with England U21s too. I'm sure he'll have a decent career.
