I think what I was trying to say was that we were living beyond our means for a while. The leadership should have more gently applied the brakes earlier, but didn't, because they don't know what they're doing. Without an external factor such as PSR enforcing a hard stop, I fear we would have continued to a point where we literally ran out of money - fire sales of assets, staff not being paid etc. Our current situation seems to me to be a desperate attempt to comply with PSR rather than nurturing a sustainable business model. Maybe I'm wrong, but I strongly suspect that any business plan we have is based on us being a Premier League club and we are basing our strategy on hope alone. For me, in our current situation, we would push the boat out a bit to get a solid manager in on a 3 year contract. Keep player purchases at a minimum this summer and try to offload two, maybe three players. Keep, if we can, our key players and complement the team with youth. See where we are in January and if we are in touching distance of automatic/play offs, make some investment in the squad then. If we get promoted, great. If we don't then that will be a big set back, but selling 3-4 more players should give us a strong financial advantage over the rest of the field to reinvest in a super competitive playing squad, with a decent manager already in place. My fear is that going with a super cheap manager is a big gamble. I'll be annoyed if we spend over inflated money on fees and wages for mediocre players to play under a mediocre manager. I would rather have a slightly smaller squad with a good manager this season.

Since Rodgers left, people have highlighted a lack of joined up thinking with regards playing styles and the manager picks, but there is a thread between them. We've gone for: Dean Smith - solid Championship manager, poor results in the PL = Cheap Enzo Maresca - Untested in England = Cheap Steve Cooper - solid Championship manager, poor results in the PL = Cheap RvN - Untested in England = Cheap It seems there are four names mentioned in the running for us now. Rohl - promising young manager, no Prem experience, in a desperate situation at Wednesday and wants to leave = Cheap (but has a psycho owner who makes life difficult for everyone) Wilder - solid Championship manager, poor results in the PL = Cheap Dyche - experienced proven track record in Premier League = Expensive GON - No Championship experience, poor results in the PL = Super Cheap The trajectory of the club is plain to see - we're skint. All this PSR stuff is a smoke screen and I think our financial position is worse than we probably think. Poor leadership has gotten us into the mess but I'm beginning to wonder that PSR might actually have rescued us. Without it, who knows where we'd be now.

I did watch the P'Boro game and after spending Saturday afternoon revelling in the prospect of walking the league with a team made of teenagers, I woke up on Sunday and realised that it was the first pre season game, coached by a coach who doesn't want to be our manager yet, at the training ground against League One opposition in what was also their first pre-season friendly where none of our players played more than 45 minutes. So putting that to one side and realising that we have a long hard season ahead of us in a challenging league, I don't get the hate for Dyche. We are a club that has no money to spend on new players, has a potential points deduction coming our way and a player culture that needs a massive shake up. These are big issues that need seriously addressing and Dyche comes with experience of this type of situation - I don't get the hate for him. I hope the kids we have do live up to the "if you're good enough, you're old enough" mantra, and we get a manager that will give them lots of game time, play pretty football, score loads of goals and concede not very many and everything will work out just fine, but the realist in me knows that there are deeper issues at our club that need sorting out. All managers come with risk. Some work out very well, others don't live up to expectations.

This is the most sensible thing I have read today.

tbf Chansiri does sound like an absolute weapon and given the state of Wednesday, I would think there's a long line of people running out of patience with him. I can well believe he has moved the goal posts - just look at the statement he put out a couple of weeks ago about the state of the negotiations to sell that club, the guy is a clown. The situation we find ourselves in right now is unforgivable, given our relegation was confirmed so long ago. That said, it's never to late to make the right decision and I would rather wait a week or two and get Rohl or Dyche, rather than settling for Wilder. I cannot fathom a single reason for appointing O'Neil.

There's no clear direction at the club. Remember when Vichai said that we'll be Champions League in 5 years? It raised some eyebrows for sure but it showed that we were ambitious and were embarking on a journey of upward trajectory - something that fans, good players, coaches and prospective managers were attracted to and could buy into. Now, there's nothing. The strategy and vision seems to be "Let's see what happens this week and hope things will be better next week". Come on Top and Rudders... Set an ambitious target and plot a route to achieve it. And if you can't do that, it's time to go.

I would be very surprised if there is an announcement today. Bad optics to put out an optimistic good news story with the sad Jota news in the background.

I'm increasingly confident it will be Rohl. The only other credible name linked is Dyche and as he is a free agent, I'm certain he would have been announced already. The severance package for Rohl is a legitimate reason for him not signing yet. Once that's sorted, he'll be here. Sheffield Wednesday are a mess, their owner seems absolutely despicable. I genuinely feel sorry for their fans.

This is my genuine fear. It would be such a Leicester thing to view Ruud leaving as an absolute bolt out of the blue and we now take 2 weeks to bring someone in. How much compensation would we have to pay Rangers to get Russell Martin?

Rudkin clearly learning from Liverpool's TAA deal. We'll get £3.75 for him if Wrexham sign him now with 3 weeks left on his contract.

I get the feeling we're waiting on the Rangers decision. If RM doesn't get that job, he'll come here. If RM does get the Rangers gig, then it's back to the drawing board for us.

Maybe we're keeping RvN and preparations are well under way?

I actually think that Rangers would be a good move for him. His style might do well there with the second best team in the league. If you were Russell Martin and looking to map out a career in elite level football management, he goes from bottom half League 1 MK Dons, gets them to mid table. Then joins Swansea in the Championship, gets them from bottom half to mid table. Then he takes over at Southampton and takes one of the favourites for promotion to the Premier League and then gets really found out. Joining Leicester is surely a backwards step? Rinse and repeat the Southampton job? Maybe he sees himself as forging out a career as a promotion specialist? Rangers would be something different. Gives him the chance to win actual silverware and play in Europe. All good on a CV. If he does OK at Rangers, he'll be able to walk into a mid table Prem team in two or three years. He's played for Rangers too, and he's Scottish

Yeah! On the pitch he does. It was more about shaping the squad depending on funds, embargos, points deductions etc. But yeah, on the pitch Plan A all the way. If that doesn't work then do Plan A harder. Clown.

RvN absolutely knows what's going on. The board will have communicated with him. Not every significant conversation needs to be public knowledge. I'm sure that the hunt is on for the next manager. It looks like that will be Russell Martin. RM will now be (should be) looking at all our games from the last couple of seasons, doing his research on the squad and putting a plan A, B and C together to get us up next year depending on transfers, points deductions and so on. I fully expect we will have a situation where it will be announced that RvN is leaving and within 24 hours RM will be announced, possibly at the same time (personally hope it's someone else). That announcement was unlikely today as it is a bank holiday, more likely tomorrow. Possibly waiting for 30th June. Last time we were relegated we brought in Dean Smith which was a waste of time. I suspect the board have considered it would also have been a waste of time getting rid of RvN once relegation was nailed on and they've (please let this be true) been spending the last 10 weeks sorting out a seamless replacement instead of the usual sacking of a manager and subsequent 3 week wait before anything can begin to be sorted while they search for a new manager.

Birmingham will get at least play offs. Back to back promotions from League One has been done quite a few times and Birmingham come into the season in great shape. We should be near the top, Southampton should be near the top, Sheff Utd will be near the top. Let's see what happens to Ipswich in the transfer market, but would expect them to have a good season. Birmingham will be in the mix for sure.

He's just been asked on Sky Sports what his plans are for the future. Stated that he wants to get back into management but he "doesn't have a clue". At least he's honest.
