No that's not really acceptable is it? Maybe in Mexico but he's playing in England, in a league where the established protocol is, as far as I can work out, family names as identifying feature. It shouldn't, and doesn't, matter that his father has green eyes and they gave him a nickname on another continent. I'm aware that people have nicknames but it seems anathema to the idea of rules to allow them to choose what they want. Either all should or none, surely?

This is a question I've had for a while...why do Non-British players get to choose their shirt names when Brits don't? Great example in the Merseyside Derby. Virgil van Dijk's shirt name is Virgil ; his family name is van Dijk. Another great case is Chiquarito - his name is ****ing Javier Hernandez. Don't get me wrong, I couldn't care if everyone has nicknames or whatever, but don't tell me that Rooney wouldn't go for Wazza. I'm curious if anyone knows the reason for this arbitrary disparity.

What happened to the Jamie Vardy film ?
foxile5 replied to marcymarc666's topic in Leicester City Forum
Didn't get a move to a 'big club' and ruined the narrative - "how can it be a happy ending? He's still at bloody Leicester!" -
I saw no end of Chelsea fans chucking bottles and chip wrappers on the floor outside of the burger van. Filthy animals. They were next to a bin ; I thought they were supposed to be affluent and well mannered in Chelsea. Absolute disgrace.

We used to support a football club. That's now secondary. We have a 'matchday experience'. That lexical shift has allowed for this. It happens 'cause ya let it.

Riyad Mahrez. One of City’s best ever players. Should he stay or go?
foxile5 replied to a topic in Leicester City Forum
He has no respect or feeling towards the club. It makes me baffle why people love him for it. Best just to ignore it till he goes. -
Has anyone got this? I'm umming and ahhing and was wondering what it's like. I found the initial ESO release too crowded online but I absolutely love these games so am going to give it a rock and roll.

I think Chilwell should be moved on for a loan. He doesn't seem to have any killer instinct yet - he holds off from tackles, always looks to pass back, hesitates. And let's not mention the debacle about being scared to take throw-ins at Milwall. A loan at a tougher side might be the making of him.

"“I know what I’m capable of… Over the last 18 months I’ve been held back a bit. " This from a man who is neither scoring nor assisting and, if we're being objective, hasn't ever really made much of an impact at this level. The last 18 months he's done MUCH, MUCH less than several other members of the team. That is his own fault, nobody elses. This is the attitude children have when they mess up - it is everything else's fault : the sun, the time of day, the clothes. the grass, the wind etc etc. Carrying a self-help book is not an analogue for understanding the need to develop one's professional skills over a period of time.

Make an earnest and impassioned attempt to remove the monarchy - these people are just leeching from the state. Make it illegal to drive around the country and live in lay-bys in caravans - we've tolerated this particular blight for too long. Drop the wage boundary for MPs to below that of the average wage - we would then get politicians who WANT to do the job, not want the money.

The fact that all footballers shave their goddamn legs. It's borderline perverse. Look at them next match day - all gleaming and waxed. They ought to be ashamed of themselves. ...you know what, just ****ing footballers.
-
His weakness is his attitude. He won't develop because he doesn't think he should develop. He fully expects to start every game and considered our club beneath him ; all this and he doesn't score or assist. Huge problem, having made it in your own mind - it means there's nowhere else to go. Bin him and his ego.

It's only us British that do it. You don't hear Korean commentators breaking their necks to pronounce Rooneh in an English manner. Nor do the Germans start pronouncing Ws to show how cultured they are. In England we have six different pronunciations for anyone who has a foreign name.
-
I hope that we don't get him purely for the ridiculous lengths commentators will go to to pronounce his name in an odd manner. Tor-gain Azz-air. Same as his brother Ai-den Azz-air. Really gets on my tits the ridiculous lengths commentators go to. Stringer and Mendy's first name. Morons.

He's going to be good - whether we can carry him during his period of maturing is another thing. Obviously CP thinks that he's good enough to do a job whilst he matures as a player - I trust that, but I don't think it is the wisest of choices. Fuchs to start for the rest of the season, for me.

Dry your tears, sweetheart. I'll stop pointing out that we ought to have behavioural standards - it's obviously of great pain to you. And I really don't want to look up any of your pasts posts, given the terrible grammar and content it would just be wasted time on my part.
-
Love the game. Unfortunately I'm terrible at it. 0 wins. I might get on later if anyone wants adding?

I'm not riled up. I just find it odd that people like you seem to think him immune from criticism. These people aren't gods, they're no living deities. They play a game for a living. If they want to flounce around being prima-donnas that's fine, but they should still be held to as high, if not higher, standards of behaviour. With great privilege should come great responsibility. People like yourself saying 'noooo, they should behave how they like free of criticism' only serves to justify their views. He's an absolutely phenomenal footballer - that doesn't mean I shouldn't point out he isn't that great of a person.
-
I'm not mad. I find it distasteful though. Again - he is contributing nothing to the world and acting like the world owes him. I just feel that as paying spectators, and citizens of England, we shouldn't be tolerating this. Call me idealist, but people need holding to behavioral standards otherwise it all falls apart. What's the point in raising your children? It makes no difference to anyone elses life and they shouldn't expect to be criticised. Why do you think that it's okay for someone to act that way free of criticism? Why do you think people shouldn't be held to standards? Why do you defend somebody for being a turd? What's your agenda? And again - co-opting depression as a means for gathering a few more quid. That ISN'T okay and your desire to kiss Riyad Mahrez on the mouth won't change that.
-
Some people are so myopic. Yes, he's an excellent footballer - that doesn't mean that we can point out he is also a piece of trash as a human. The story from one poster about his daughter, his endless desire to get away from the club we love, the fact he's handed in two transfer requests and clearly feels himself bigger than the club - he's a rotten piece of work that might well benefit from being made to realise where he actually stands in the grand scheme of things. Oddly enough I had a bit of an insight to his way of life. I was waiting outside of the ground as the players were coming out. King signed autographs. Okazaki spent 45 minutes in the rain signing everything put under his nose - seriously impressive. One or two waved and smiled. Riyad Mahrez made an employee drive a car 15 feet to pick him and Slimani up from the door - either he couldn't be bothered to walk to the car or he couldn't be bothered to mix with the commoners (his fans). Either or - it's an indicator of who he is and how he views his position in life. He's Riyad Mahrez, why SHOULD HE GET HIS OWN CAR? It's worth noting that the actual superstar of the team, Jamie Vardy, still had the grace to walk to his own car. He plays a game very well, he contributes nothing of substance to society. He is in the position of privilege he's in because some people who own a duty free shop decided to buy a football club for a bit of fun. If the world were to ban football tomorrow nothing significant would change. If the world were to ban policemen, teachers, firefighters and so on...that might have an impact. Riyad Mahrez is unimportant - that's why people are angry. He has made the fatal error of believing his own hype. The people who earn so very little and spend it on the football - that's who he's representing and sometimes it stings a bit when you hear he's depressed at having to do what we'd do in a heartbeat for free. Imagine having a relative that has taken their life as result of depression ; it might come a little bit annoying that he's appropriating that in order to get himself just a few more sheckles on the pile. Imagine having an excited child that can't wait to meet him ; it might be a bit annoying that Riyad 'King of the World' Mahrez can't deem it right and proper to even feign happiness. Imagine earning £12,000 a year and watching somebody earn your lifetime's earnings in a month not do his job. It might make people a little bit unhappy. I hope that somebody sits him down and shows him just how little he actually contributes ; just how little impact he will have on the world. It might make him be the humble man he wants people to think him. Great footballer - piece of trash. They're both present in my estimation of him.

Should Riyad Mahrez play for the club again?
foxile5 replied to Tuna's topic in Leicester City Forum
I'll scream with laughter if pep confirms he won't sign him because he's a twat. Literally scream. -
Here Drinkwater contributed to something significant. There he participates in something ordinary. That's the difference, folks.

Anyone remember the old Planetfootball site?

We didn't prevent his moving, we just tried to get what we valued our asset at. The rank arrogance of him, thinking he should have any say in negotiations. Let's not forget he was dropped from the national team, also. This isn't the 'humble' and 'pleasant' persona he's tried to cultivate. He can **** off and get to **** with it. Amazingly he's depressed with his lucrative job, one I would literally sacrifice an arm to do, and his success. I work sixty hour weeks and actually contribute something to society - and I do so for a fraction of his WEEKLY wage. . If his profession disappeared tomorrow nothing would be lost ; maybe he that reasserting to him. Miserable, entitled ****.
