LCFC 3-4 Southampton, post-match thread
old koppite replied to Phil Mitchell's topic in Leicester City Forum
There’s a short on YouTube from one of our fans behind our goal in the second half. It’s sickening to see the third and fourth go in and people just stand up quietly to make for the exits! Why don’t they swear, scream, gesticulate , boo and go crazy!! -

Southampton v Leicester - FA CUP - Saturday 14th Feb 3pm

I didn’t see that, but I backed them at 50-1 - and a few pennies on each of their back line to score plus to win before k/o- wife was very impressed with my judgment and thinks I’ll get the same returns every week! -

Has anyone mentioned Dakas 2nd half sitter? Looked easier to score. He had a good first half though ; best since Moscow. -

Terrible wasn’t it- their first was probably key, and it was clever movement by their forward to nip in front of Caleb, but he should have been more aware -

I can’t decide what we should have done second half, and don’t fully understand modern tactics, but maybe we should have done what they did to us at their place ; they were 3-0 nil at half time against 10 men but didn’t make any concerted effort to go on to thrash us and instead sat back - I dunno, their players listened to their manager and coaches and stuck to the plan in that game ? please get an interim manager in immediately! -

Still in shock … -
Great first half, credit to him, but apart from 1 lung busting recovery run second half, he went missing again. So frustrating.

This. Why are we so passive in stopping crosses? Grrr ! -
Surely some of the second half game management was down to him? Eg what is it with this high line when defending a free kick in our half? Every time we’re too slow to react when the ball comes in
-
Good first half but back to crap second - but again looked especially tired last 20 minutes- Andy should should subbed him on 65 minutes

Yes, he suddenly went to pot last 15 minutes or so! Lack of fitness? -

Sorry, I confess I had 50-1 at half time, and a couple of their defenders to score ! -
I agree. I thought with his stature he looks imposing, and did a couple of nifty quick turns to move us forwards.

Ok, fair enough. I understand where you’re coming from. I think he’ll start on Tuesday so let’s hope he gets back to the improvement we saw pre concussion. Personally, I still see him as a water carrier type, even if he’s not consistently good at it. Maybe I see a bit of myself in him from when I played as a c m at amateur level many years ago! I was lucky enough to play for 25 years at adult level. I remember a few comments, especially in my 30s, re it wasn’t clear what I did to justify starting, but after players actually played in a game with me I had compliments of appreciation. Anyway, I’m just hoping we scrap a win out of Tuesday, and then enough points to keep us up- I don’t care how scruffy, lucky, dirty or boring we have to become to achieve it, and for me a team of tryers is better than a team of posers in the present situation.
-
But come on, he doesn’t just “ run around “ does he? Hes a water carrier type player, which all teams need. Are you disputing that he was starting to show some real value to the team a few weeks ago? I don’t think he has been let off on here- but in fact the opposite for most of the season until he found a bit of form. He’s had a lot of abuse on here. I believe he cares and always does his best- that’s far better than some of the other wasters in the club.

I don’t completely understand why you having such a go at Skipp? You prefer Winks, but blimey yesterday Winks was absolutely pathetic - for such an experienced talented c m he had no effect on the game at all . To me he seems to play within himself most of the time. Skipp gave 100% all game, and a few games ago we all saw some consistency to his performances. The concussion interrupted his improvement. With hindsight , I’d have rather had Page on yesterday instead of Winks- at least we’d have got some youthful energy and spark from Page.

Sorry, but have to disagree. I don’t think people are claiming it was a great revival ( or will be). Just that it was encouraging to see some fight and decent attacking with 10 men including our youngsters. Charlton hadn’t completely taken their foot off the pedal- they couldn’t handle us for the first 15 mins of the 2nd half up to the pen , and you could see Nathan Jones flapping. Had the pen gone in, he knew we would have our tails up and might then get a second. i didn’t see the SU game, but understand from comments on here that we played well in that second half and had chances to get a third. So you’ll telling me that their players and their manager were happy and comfortable to let us attack and control the second half - nonsense. Yesterday was crap- 2 poor teams and Andy is not the next manager for me. We need an experienced motivator urgently, to somehow raise our physicality and team spirit.

Better that any of Charlton’s players by a mile? Hmm, not sure about that
