i don't think that's true, because that's what FFP was designed to stop, the sugar daddy buying the league. Having said that, Villa have a net spend of 214m since being promoted. How is that even possible under FFP??

what's the view on Lamella. I think it was disgraceful that he initiates and gets no punishment.

Let's be honest here. Soyuncu seems to get away with bad performances and no criticism. He was not very good today. The first goal was all him. The second goal was mostly him, even though amartey played the runner on, soy should've looked across the line before stepping up and calling for offside. The third was due to chasing the game and Teilemans falling asleep with a runner near him. As much as i like him, he does seem to have a brain fritz a bit too often.
-
i'm baffled how he is in the team so often. He literally offers nothing except the odd goal when we're already thrashing someone. Waste of money.

What can you say after that? A game for the ages. Vardy proves yet again he can stick it to the big 6. Wonderful.

Castagne signing instead of a left back theory.

I was going by the TV game commentator from Sunday, you may be right. The start is all messed up with the euro delays. -
West Brom 0-3 Leicester - Post-Match Thread
Swiss_tony replied to StanSP's topic in Leicester City Forum
i only saw it up to 70 mins as my recording cut off! The first half was forgettable, same as last season, lots of possession, very little penetration. It was the first game though, so they get a mulligan. Thought Castagne and Mendy and Praett looked very good. Perez was invisible (again). Soyuncu made the back look a lot more solid than those last 3 games. Wilf had a good game at center back. Justin was enthusiastic but his positional play wasn't too good. Rough diamond with plenty of time to improve. Vardy didn't have much to work with but ended up with two goals (which i never saw due to the cutoff). Same with Barnes. The Baggies were pretty poor apart from diangana, a better side would've punished us. I hope that Rogers has now worked out that he needs to play one defensive mid, one linking mid and one attacking mid if we want to win games. That means mendy or wilf, praett, and maddison or teilemans. play mendy and wilf we're too defensive, play maddy and teile and we're too exposed through the middle on a counter. i still hope we buy a linking mid, a striker, and maybe a left back, and that we can sell perez. -

we've got till oct 1st to sign a left back if we want. -
I've read it twice, and i still don't understand what they are saying.

We got a good price, he's neither rubbish nor a world beater. Not the greatest defender, and very inconsistent end product when going forward, but still a good player overall. The question i have is, since we just sold him and gave Mendy 2 extra years, are we actually signing anybody before sep 12th???
-
I saw him play a few times as a nipper. I think he worked at the British Shoe Corporation (as did Norman Leet) when I worked there in the early 90's (but i could be wrong). Great player who had a cruelly shortened career.
-
I know Vardy got the golden boot and was thus a shoe in (pun intended) for POTS, but Evans was my player of the season. He marshaled our defense superbly for most of the year. Solid and reliable week in week out. The NBC commentators over here in the USA said time and again that Evans/Soy was the best central defensive partnership in the PL.

We have' a striker' and a bunch of guys around him who can't put it in the back of the net despite endless shots.

Looking at the stats, it's clear we need more goalscorers and more goal creators. Our defensive stats are solid vardy has more goals than the next 3 highest scorers (perez, barnes, and maddison) combined. tieleman has the same number of goals as chilwell and ricardo, how is that possible for our most expensive signing ever?? I don't want to hear the 'we were found out' excuse for the second half of the season meltdown. A manager earns his corn by out thinking the opposition. We're not a kick and rush team, we played some great attacking football in the first 19 games, now we just don't, we're not quick, we're not incisive, we're not creating enough space. it isn't as simplistic as 'the other teams have closed off the space for vardy to run into', as if we play championship level hoofball. I was on the fence with Perez at the start of the season, but now at the end of it he is a major disappointment, and not worth the money we paid. Maddison, if he's not sold needs to up his game, so does tielemans. What we seem to miss is a link player in midfield that can up the gears, we seem to slow down attacks now, not speed them up. we have two reasonably good 'stoppers' in choudrey and wilf who can't pass. we have two underperforming attacking mids in tielemans and maddison who can't tackle, and rarely score. if we play tiele and mad with just wilf, we lack cover, if we play wilf with mendy or choudrey, and just have one creative attacker and we don't create chances. i think praet is the link man but brendan won't play him, he's the right combo of tackling and accurate passing. We look much better balanced with him on the pitch. If not him, somebody like him. Barnes is young so i'll cut him some slack, but outside of vardy our shots to goals ratio is woeful. The number of shots we have that don't turn into goals is incredible. As far as wingers go, perez is just useless, and albrighton tried hard but i think he's past his best, we need another quality wide player. i've heard like everyone, we're in for cantwell and lallana, are they a step up, i don't know, but we need to splash the cash in the midfield and attacking areas before next season or we will be mid table.
-
The team today looked like it was over-coached and not confident it could do the job asked of it. If we'd played a little more freely, we might still have conceded two but might've scored 3 or 4. this was classic rodgers tactics, and we did what we needed to do in the frst 45, but the second half was baffling, we needed to go for it, and didn't.
-
At the end of the season the table doesn't lie. Our first eleven is top quality, but what we've seen is when we lose a couple of players we look ordinary, particularly in creating chances. I expected a tight game, but each team had 3 shots on target in the whole game, we scored none, they scored two. Two more individual errors cost us a draw, but we didn't look like we were going to score if we played til midnight Man utd bought fernandez in january and he's transformed them. We thought we had enough depth and didn't strengthen, and we've been shown up in the second half of the season. We've lost 3 key players to injury, and both central defenders to red cards. i have Evans down as my player of the season as well i want to be positive but it's such a disappointment. we need to buy quality attacking players or we're going to be lower half of the table next season

A close season of buying attacking mids, wingers, and strikers is required.

cobblers. in the first few games of the title winning season we leaked goals like a sieve. Ranieri identified the problem and rectified it, if he hadn't we would not have won the title. Sure he had a good base to build from, he didn't start from scratch but neither did he inherit a title winning team all nicely wrapped from Pearson. Retrospectively rewriting history to make nige look good 4 years later is very irritating. Pearson is a very good EFL manager and struggles in the prem.

Fascinating options on sunday. man utd only need a draw for CL regardless of other results. chelsea need a win, in case we win we need a win, in case chelsea win. wolves need a win. in case spurs win. Basically wolves and chelsea have to go for the win, so it should be an open game. We are going to be in a tight game because man utd don't need to win. 0-0 draw for us, and a 1-0 win for wolves, squeak into CL on GD. -

if this result stands it means all teams in positions 3-7 have something to play for on the last day, rather than being on the beach. -

brendan will shut up shop for the first 45 mins and see how the other score is. you can't win it in the first half but you can sure lose it. if wolves are stuffing chelsea he might try another 45 mins of defending, if they are drawing or winning or it's close he'll make us attack more. i expect 2 defending mids, defending wing backs and maybe vardy alone up top to start. There is no way he will 'go for it' from the whistle. I've got a masty feeling it will look good until the last 10 mins and then either man utd score or chelsea and we have to suddenly go into attack mode and can't. I am of course assuming chelsea lose tonight.
