  1. He isn’t world class nor do I believe he ever will be but let’s not lose the distinction between that and not being prem level. Being rapid with a good strike and cross, which he currently has, will be enough for him to be a functional prem winger. If he had everything he’d be playing for Real Madrid, he is still absolutely a class above us and has been for a while, he will go to a mid table club and build a very good top flight career for himself once he gets out of our mess, if you don’t think he will play in a top 5 European division I think you are a bit nuts
  2. His football marries being completely unable to defend with being completely unable to build any sort of attack without his entire 11 in the opposition half. Also king of giving away stupid unnecessary goals. His time at Rangers was catastrophic as was his time in the prem with Southampton. Extremely short sighted appointment as he will be alright as long as he has the best team in the league, but when we get promoted out of our teams depth we will be found out and won’t have the squad available to change our set up- basically what it has been the past 3 years
  3. Changed my mind lads take your time 😭
  4. Very fair points, and I do accept a lot of what you have said and do agree with your last paragraph in particular, but that also does lend into what I have said, the time it takes to plan transfers and the fact we will need essentially a new squad and will need to sign players to our new managers plan means that free agency is massive for us. Ideally I think you would want to be at the point now where you have an idea of the manager and can start planning and scouting specifically to his idea of our future and how we will set up, and ideally do so in plenty of time to be able to approach the higher priority free agents, I.e the youngsters being released from premier league teams. It is a complicated thing and if it were any other team I would be far more willing to accept it, but it is just another year where it feels we are doing the same things all over. Will be happy to hold my hands up and admit I’m wrong if it works out better. Would also argue with our limited resources and massive needs we will need to target free agency and free signings
  5. It would be if it were an appointment without thought, but they have had a very long time since relegation, since which a whole raft of teams have brought in managers and new signings, and we are still getting tweets about a charity match(after our relegation and prior to what is in all likelihood going to be the lowest finish in our clubs history) and we still don’t even know if our part time manager is staying or going. We are about to hit June, we need to be preparing at this point for pre season and putting a squad and playing style together. We are falling into the exact same trap of the past 3 years, and when we have taken time in that period to hire, they have been arguably the worst managerial hires across the entirety of the UK, let alone in our league. At this point with our process I do agree that we should just hire, at least even if it isn’t the right person which it wouldn’t be anyway, they have time to put together their own squad during this reset and sign some of the more sought after freebies
  6. Only two hours until my date with Jon, hope he is wearing something sexy
  7. Literally made very clear in the comment I made that I wasn’t fully able to place him and he rang a bell you weird guy, very contextually obvious that I wasn’t saying he was at seagrave talking details with Top and Rudkin over prawn sandwiches and polo highlights
  8. Lijnders ring a bell loosely, anyone have any idea if he is alright?
  9. If it’s Martin the season ticket goes back- I go to watch with mates but that crosses my pain threshold
  10. Have to imagine aside from Amartey and the keepers the rest are either in the squad or on loan to L2, no point keeping them around otherwise
  11. Turkish fans on Twitter seem to think Mavididi is signing for Trabzonspor, saw one mention a loan to buy for 20m euros which can not be right 😂
  12. Maybe we were waiting for Bristol to choose and we are getting the spare aka Skubala… we can dream
  13. Should be our first port of call, if I was working for the club I’d want a list ready for June 1st, if we can sign 4/5 cheap younger players for depth it takes so much pressure off of the rest of the window
  14. At what point is it more worthwhile having him around for the year and just letting him go for a free- if he is a key part, promotion is worth far more than 500k
  15. Really think we will try for McFarlane at Chelsea and the delay is us waiting for their season to end
  16. And the 4-0 was against a play off chasing super in form Southampton, and (may be remembering wrong) it was after a little wobble and felt fairly high pressure. Very confident he is going to do extremely well at Man City, similar vibes to Kompany going from Burnley to Bayern, he knows how to set up to win consistently with better players than his competition and low blocks every week
  17. Dewsbury-Hall was 23 on loan at Blackpool and Luton in L1, Braybrooke is 22 in L2, and in the tots, so he is at least on track with KDH, which worked out well enough for him. Players develop late sometimes, especially smaller less physically able players who have to adapt to men’s football
  18. Guess the idea would be to tie him down before he hits the free market and has more options if anyone truly wants him
  19. Agree with this, we have a habit of breaking other teams bad habits lately. Think with that squad any momentum probably kept us up
  20. More recent but I’d have Daka’s penalty at Watford. If we score that and got another win over the line I think heads go up and the atmosphere turns a bit less, and we probably survive
  21. If it’s a cheap deal he’d be a functional starter in L1 and good back up for the Championship if we get up on a free. If we are losing Kristiansen then I’d be happy to sign him and essentially use a chunk of VK’s wages for VK level play, with any fee we get on top. Positions like full back don’t need addressing until we go back up for now, you can survive with utter shite at full back in L1
  22. Agree with this. If we waited another week and got Rohl (or just paid for him) think we end up mid table. TBH I think with Corberan in the prem we tussle to survive, we have just made repeatedly awful appointments since Dean Smith. Only one worth his money was Enzo, do think that is where we should be headed again, coaches from elite academies/top clubs
  23. Two big ifs- if he makes it through the first wave of post season appointments if we actually have some money to spend (unlikely) as has been reported If those work out for us, it’s an attractive job rebuilding a team that should have the resources and players to walk the league (won’t do it but we do have the resources). I reckon we are waiting for the playoffs to end, could see us after Challinor or Alexander depending on how it shakes out
  24. From the bits I have seen I get a little bit of a KDH vibe from him in terms of his development. Wouldn’t be surprised if he broke our team or had a very successful L2 loan in the upcoming season. Think he ends up as a 10 but think he starts out as a backup wide option if he comes in to the squad now
