  1. Remember the 1966 world cup...the other teams knew the only way to stop him was to hack him down...he left the comp early on crutches
  2. Strong, fearless centre forward...very good in the air....gave 100% every match ...Chris Wood reminds me of him
  3. I backed us at 1500/1 with Corals Nov 1st and posted on this forum that we were way overpriced....for a fleeting moment i thought about the double with the baseball team i follow Chicago Cubs who were 50/1 for the world series ( i have relatives in chicago)but hey ho its all if only's...but it was probably the least enjoyable season i have had supporting Leicester...watched the final few games from behind the sofa
  4. Losing Kasper was a very big issue...not only on the pitch but his influence in the dressing room. Danny Ward came in and from a cold start was expected to perform to a high standard. With hindsight its easy to see now that he needed a run of games to get up to speed and build his confidence. Sometimes i think we forget that players are humans beings and not machines.
  5. Fair play to Brendan, he said the squad needed "freshening up this summer"...and he has done this with just one significant signing
  6. Grealish won that free kick at the end of the first half as they walked to the tunnel, haranging the ref over a dubious corner decision. The free kick wasnt a foul to me ..both had their arms up but Grealish threw himself to the floor and the ref gave in . Sometimes putting a ref under pressure works in your favour
  7. He has been impressive in his short spell here and will get even better with experience. One thing he can improve on is holding the defensive line with the rest of the back four. He tends to be 2 yards behind the others and consequently plays an attacker onside. Happened last night and led to the Leeds player somerville almost scoring
  8. Agree...the premier league is the highest profile sport in the world, and as such carries a higher significance
  9. Data & Performance analyst to Brendon Rodgers..." why not let Ricardo mark Tammi Abraham at corners" Rodgers " yes good idea, that should work"
  10. Diego Simone....fits that bill perfectly ...wonder if he has any ambitions re managing outside of La Liga .. has been at Athletico Madrid for 11 years, must be getting bored by now !
  11. Agree... they are a good side but we have a hell of a midfield...Youri,Ndidi,KDH & Maddison..my main worry is that under Arteta they know how to use the "dark arts" typical spanish tactics ie fouling, diving, playing the ref..Granit Xhaka is a master at this...whereas we dont
  12. Carrying too many players in our squad with no real hunger or desire. 5-10 million in the bank, medals in the drawer, no national team in the world cup to aim for and dare i say it no particular pride in their own performfance...not a recipe for success at this level
  13. 5 subs allowed now...start off defensive then change to a more attacking formation second half
  14. Think they will be v.motivated and well organised by Thomas Frank but we look stronger in every department than them. wouldnt be surprised to see Ivan Toney score but we should put at least 3 past them.Players like Thomas,Kelechi and Praet would be automatic 1st team picks for them For all the talk re players leaving etc. i cannot recall having a stronger squad in depth than we have at the moment. 4-1 win
  15. Comes across as a very intelligent guy and I think he has picked the right time to leave. Doesnt want to outstay his welcome and theres a young Dane to follow in his footsteps.Good luck to him and his family.
  16. To finish in the top 6 you need to score 60+ goals a season ..its down to how well we defend as to where we will finish in the table. ive heard of players setting themselves targets as to how many goals they should score in a season. My guess is Vardy 15+, Maddison 10, Daka 10, Barnes 10,Ineahacho 8,Tielemans 6, KDH 6, (Fofana,Justin,Ricardo,Evans,Castagne,Soyuncu between them)10..even if some fall short of that , i still think we will reach that 60
  17. Agree re no evidence of kicking on/maturing, that why i think he needs s manager whos prepared to kick him up the backside as he just seems to want to coast through his career. As for limited on the ball, we need someone with a bit of spite who can chase, tackle and win the ball, which he can do well. Reminds me of the story Robbie Savage tells about himself where 5 minutes before half time he received a pass from Gerry Taggart and then tried to beat an opposition player with a bit of flair that he never possessed. Duly lost the ball and from that the opposition went on and scored. He went down the tunnel at half time expecting the mother of all bollockings from Martin ONeil but instead O'Neil turned on Taggart "How many times have i told you do not f~king pass the ball to Savage"
  18. Think we need more of a John McGinn type player than a Douglas Luiz...fed up of us being bullied out of games..when Ndidi is on it he is very good but we missed him badly at the end of last season..a fired up Hamza should be able to do this destructive role but he needs to get a nasty side to him
  19. Always thought we could get a lot more out of him... ie a manager whos prepared to put a rocket under him Saw him make a diving block on Saturday against Leuvan and thought thats the first time i've seen a Leicester player do that since Wes Morgan retired. Came throgh the youth system and seems popular with the rest of the squad but looks like for whatever reason he is just prepared to coast along and collect his £60 grand a week. Maybe he feels he hasnt been the oppotunities he deserves, but he has got the attributes to make a very good defensive midfielder ie pace, stamina and aggression...shame to see him waste his career, like a goalie just sitting on the bench week after week
  20. Ozil has fallen out with Fenerbahce and looks like he will have to move on or retire. I know we like to buy young talent that can improve and possibly sell on but we did sign Cambiasso. At 33 years old he could play a similar role to Pirlo or Modric for us and would be a good replacement for Thielemans if he goes. I think Maddison and Dewsbury Hall would learn from playing alongside him as well. Remember his outstanding performance against us a couple of seasons ago at Arsenal.
  21. If i remember rightly, Leicester asked Peter Shilton to go to a Walsall game and give his opinion on his possible replacement. On his advice they signed Mark Wallington.
  22. Remember that day well..I travelled up to the Orient game on their supporters coach (i had two friends who were Orient Supporters) and then had to endure the journey back home, listening to their jubilant supporters. Felt sorry for Carl Jayes though, 17 years old and let a simple lob slip through his hands.
  23. Waited 40 years to see us win at Upton Park (missed the 1-0 when Darren Eadie scored) and that was their last season there. Remember seeing the teams line up before the game...and thinking WTF we have got a ball boy playing for us. Left the ground in disbelief at what i had just seen. Ngolo Kante
  24. He was also our best defender from corners..cut out so many when he stood at the front of the six yard box..we have never replaced him
  25. Gordon Banks was treated poorly by the Leicester board. With Peter Shilton wanting first team football they agreed to sell Banks to Stoke but refused to pay him money that he was due to him. Banks refused to leave and it was only when Stoke agreed to pay this money themselves that the transfer went ahead .
