I remember when the celtic fans were comparing him favourably to Virgil van dijk...shame it never worked out here
-
I remember his England game...Shearer and Guppy linked up well that day The term "whipping the ball in" was made for him.
-
Agree...James Mcarthur,Jordan Henderson,Marc Albrighton,John Mcginn..water carriers..all teams need these type of players,otherwise you are just a showbiz eleven

I remember one game in our title winning season where Kasper came out of his goal just to remomstrate with Mahrez for not tracking back.Think it might have been at Upton Park. But Raneiri brought in Danny Simpson ,an out and out defender to play on that side.

BR comes across as someone who tries to get the best out of his players by encouraging them rather than giving them the hairdryer treatment. But he has been let down badly by some and he needs to put a rocket under some of them. David Moyes has got the balance right in this respect.

and he put his arm up to claim for offside after the ball went in !

Brighton have started putting players on the posts at corners, what have we got to lose

Not been the same player since his friend Cengis Under was not signed after his loan spell came to an end -
Why is nobody on the back post for corners?

Agree...Ndidi should be at the front of the six yard box and Kasper should cover the area where Ndidi currently stands. -

The best i've seen at defending corners was Leo Ulloa..he stood at the front of the six yard box and cleared anything that came his way. With Huth and Morgan behind him blocking any runners(with somewhat dubious tactics that VAR would probably pick up on nowdays). All our forwards now are not particuarly tall or good headers of the ball, Vardy,Barnes,Perez,Lookman,Kelechi,Maddison and as such are not much use when it comes to defending corners. Maybe its time to find ourselves a big striker ? but this seems to go against Brendans style of playing or failing this we should play Vestergard and get him to guard the front of the six yard box. For all his faults ,we cant carry on conceding a goal a game in almost identical circumstances. -

Lookman has a lot of ability but is brainless. Today and against Leeds he has been looking across the backline of the defence and stood at least a yard offside. Put the ball in the net both times and looked amazed that he was offside. Does he not understand the rules ! -
Seem to remember he played really well when given a run of games last season. At 29 he would be a good signing for a number of premiership sides, just needs consistent game time.

Soumare was tracking back almost half heartedly against Sparta Moscow and it led to their goal. He also failed to to keep with his man at the corner that led to Arsenal's first goal. The intensity of the Premier League is on another level to the French League and he needs to step up in this department. Remember when Raineri dropped Mahrez to the bench v Norwich for not tracking back early in the title winning season, it sent a message to everyone in the team. You can almost excuse Mahrez with his talent, but lesser mortals not

Does anyone think the enigma that is 6' 4'' Filip Benkovic will be revealed..why doesnt he even get to come on as a sub ? just appears as a shadowy figure on the training pitch from time to time..would love to see him come on if only for 10mins sometime
-
We have never replaced Leo Ulloa on the front of the six yard box when defending corners..Jamis Vardy isnt the answer...Ndidi could do this role when hes playing but we seem to prefer him being in the middle of the box alongside Evans & Soyuncu.

I've noticed that with Thomas..nearly all his passes go either sidewards or backwards..thought this might change last night with Barnes in front of him..perhaps as he develops he may gain more confidence -
Agree..he is only 20 and at that age cant be expected to match the physicality of the likes of a Traore or Bowen, but compare Luke Shaw now to what he was as a 20 year old and you can see the difference strength and experience make. Ben Chilwell is a much better defender now than he was just 2 or 3 years ago. Give Thomas a good run of games in the Championship and i think he will develop markedly.

This is some seriously impressive investment by King Power. They have run the club on a sensible business footing for some years now, selling Maguire,Mahrez and Chilwell etc for a considerable profit, but putting in place long term planning for the future.

FA Cup winners - was that the final piece in the jigsaw?
drofmor55 replied to Spudulike's topic in Leicester City Forum
Agree, it was agony to watch those games. and would love us to reach a European final ..the likes of West Ham,Aberdeen,Villa,Forest & Fulham have done so , why couldnt we -
Benkovic is a strange one, there must be something going on that we are not being made aware of...his performances at Celtic showed he has got talent but then he couldnt even get a game at Bristol City or OH Leuven
-
Dont think this is just coincidence..he is an effective team player rather than an eyecatcher. In 1966 Alf Ramsey knew that Jimmy Greaves was a better player than Roger Hunt ,but that we were a a better team with Roger Hunt in it.
-
Yes i was there..the only goal i have been pleased to see scored against us..and likewise the greatest goal i have ever seen, just a shame there were no tv cameras there that day....but there were photo headlines in the papers showing leicester defenders left sitting on the floor
-
Would like to see Amartey play in this, he has played well this season..and he might even score again !
-
Agree with this...some teams seem to specialise in breaking up play and every tackle is a borderline foul..not bad enough to warrant a yellow card but effective in stopping the opposition..The Slavia Prague team a good example.Coufal(west ham) & Fred (Man U) also. Cant remember when i last saw a ref give a card for repetitive fouling.

Ndidi was poor on the ball..looked nervous every time he had the ball at his feet Soyoncu and Amartey passing it back and forwards between themselves were because Youri and Maddison were too high up the pitch, they should have come back and made themselves available. Kasper made two great saves and couldnt be faulted for any of their goals. Rice was impressive ,next England captain.
