He’s a Poundland Stephen Merchant
-
I’d rather have Wayne Lineker up front
-
If selling the 4 I listed meant we kept the rest would you be happy?
-
If we were able to sell Mads, Coady, VK and Ndidi (who are the only ones linked with moves so far) would people be happy with what’s left: GK - Stolarcyzk - New (Begovic) - Youth RB - Ricardo - Choudhury - Coulibaly LB - Justin - Thomas CB - Faes - Nelson - Okoli - Vestergaard - Aluko CM - Winks - Soumare - Skipp - Page RW - Fatawu - Mcateer - BDCR 10 - BEK - Alves LW - Mavididi - Monga ST - New - Ayew - Daka - Evans

How is that contradicting? I'm saying that lack of rumours prior to Marti coming in shows that he’s got a say in who we bring in
-
I’m hoping that we were waiting for Marti to come in before bidding for anyone. The links we have had recently indicate Marti’s been involved
-
He can’t be on that kind of money surely!? I had him down as a £30k a week player. If we can sell him now it’s a no brainer, he’ll go at the end of the season regardless and we have plenty of options at FB.
-
I’d say £30m is about right. Can see him doing well there and then getting a bigger move so a sell-on is an absolute must. Jakub, Begovic and youth team keepers would be strong enough for the coming season.
-
Starting to think our only hope is a Saudi team coming in for him
-
The difference between this and the end of last season is night and day. In the space of a week we have a clear plan, players look confident and we’re moving the ball with purpose. Really positive signs.

Unreal moment from an average player?

Gray’s hit in that 4-1 defeat at OT was an absolute worldie -
I’m guessing our players will get either 30, 45 or 60 mins each so essentially subs will get subbed
-
If he is I hope it’s not us
-
To be fair, he needs a good look at everyone. Some players will be nailed on to start under him, others will need to play themselves into contention. Some will need the minutes for fitness, we might be playing others to show potential suitors that we plan for them to be involved. This will not be the side against Sheff Weds. let’s just enjoy our first experience of Marti-Ball.
-
Good signing whatever happens. If Mads stays, he can be third choice combined with a more active coaching role. This also means our best youth keeper can get a loan move. If Mads goes, we bank the profit and use AB as 2nd choice. We’ve saved £80k odd a week with Ward and Iversen going so should be making a significant saving on wages whatever happens
-
I’d try him as an 8 before as a striker

Quite like the idea of Ayew coming a bit deeper and Mavididi/Fatawu/Monga going in behind. Play BEK if still here as advanced 8 pulling the strings -
Marti will be well connected due to the jobs he’s had around Europe. Really hoping he uses them to bring in some bargains as we can’t afford to overpay on average players again

Bilal El Khannouss (Stuttgart loan, official)

Agreed, however, if we get good offers for Mads, VK, Faes, Ndidi and Soumare coupled with getting Coady and Vestergaard off the wage bill the club might decide we’re under no pressure to sell. Whatever happens, I don’t think we should be spending huge amounts regardless of how much comes in -

Ipswich reject £35m for Omari Hutchinson - assuming he ends up going we need to use his fee as a benchmark. As another poster has said, Marti could well convince him to stay -

I think Hamza is perfect for our bench. He can fill in a number of positions meaning he can be used effectively regardless of the score at the time. -
If wages are reasonable and he’s not got any serious injury concerns I wouldn’t be against it. Would be perfect in the advanced 8 role and due to demands of the league can role-share with Page to give him minutes. His wages would be less than Soumares for context
-
A good place for him to start would be at fullback moving into a back 3. Would be perfect as Ricardo can then play on the other side inverting into midfield. We can sell VK (hopefully) and keep JJ, Thomas and Woyo as other fullback options. If they can then move on Coady, Faes and Vestergaard we sign one CB to play alongside Nelson, Okoli and Souttar (when fit). His future is at CB though imo. He’s got all the physical attributes to play there.

Not me I’m afraid! I appreciate the compliment though 😘

He’ll bring in Ange when he does. I reckon the Greek duo will be running the gaff by halloween
