  1. He also created a new word citing Jamie Vardy's longativity ??? Longevity is the word Martin,
  2. I'm not intentionally p1ssing on the collective chips, but did you see how Vardy finished the match? - he could hardly run and clearly had a problem with that persistent groin issue he has. I hope I'm wrong but I fear we see him again this season. Pray for our lord Vardy!
  3. I'm thinking had we gone out to Randers the consensus would have been "what a tin-pot competition, never wanted to be in it anyway" And if we win it, then next season "so glad we are not in that tin-pot conference competition, leave it for yanited"
  4. Indeed .... little old Leicester ??????
  5. Is this the guy who only liked one brand of yoghurt? Lethal from corners
  6. Perhaps now he could do plenty of good for the millions of innocent Ukranians with the excess wealth he has? He's got to protect his assets first of course by transferring them to a charitable foundation! We must let him get his priorities straight.
  7. Suppose by some quirk of fate we didn't have the best owners in the world but a Russian Oligarch with close links to an unspeakably evil head of state I'd been deeply ashamed where any honours and or achievements in football bankrolled by dirty money would be utterly worthless The club would be utterly worthless
  8. Isn't feinting a big part of Madison's game?
  9. Good to see people commenting on Luke's excellent performance. He is displaying all the attributes of a top premier league player. A bit of inconsistency is still to be expected at his age The plaudits after the match generally went to KDH and Ricardo which is fair enough but Luke was equally as good. It is brilliant to have Luke and KDH in our starting line up and both are totally grounded and impressive young men. We have the prospect of Braybrooke and Alves joining them over the next couple of seasons. Half the side could be "ones of our own"
  10. The issue I see with Barnes is his powder puff defending. Rarely see him going into a tackle with intent, if there is a contested header then he comes off second best On his day he is a fabulous player, but needs to contribute much more in the defensive aspect of the game.
  11. The genius thing about Claudio was that he had the courage to leave things exactly as they were. How tempting to revert to Tinkerman. He eventually couldn't resist in the following season and the rest is history That initial decision was the foundation for winning the league and he was the right person to take the pressure off the players until the end
  12. Like other people here I've been supporting Leicester for about 58 years We were like so many other clubs of our size and potential (there must be 30 of us) until the present owners came in - then everything changed We won the league - no one was expecting that, a magical experience particularly when the trophy was lifted at the season end. The celebrations were class. The European adventure The terrible helicopter crash which enhanced the already unique bond between the supporters and the Srivaddhanaprabha family. This relationship is truly special. 2 x 5th in Prem The FA Cup It feels different now We are one of the richest 20 clubs in Europe. TV revenue has tilted the odds more towards clubs like ours A £100M training ground An 8,000 capacity increase and massive infrastructure development next I don't get the impression the majority of the fans feel entitled (a few Herberts do.. mostly on here) - just grateful we've been alive to witness all this We are a top 10 club if you had to categorise it with solid foundations to push on One man, one family has enabled all this - what a fantastic legacy!
  13. Particularly creditable against a team featuring Walsh, Le Tissier, Brazil and Whelan
  14. Found this analysis for Shearer and Van Nistelroy. Alan Shearer The standard-bearer for overcoming long-term injuries. Alan Shearer recovered not only from an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury suffered in his formative years, but returned from ankle ligament damage while at Newcastle. His Premier League goal haul of 260 may never be bettered, and that was recorded despite being sidelined for at least half of three separate seasons. Shearer suffered his first setback during his debut season at Blackburn in 1992. Then just 21, the England striker had been signed for a British record £3.6million, and was in the midst of a campaign which had seen him score 16 goals in the first 21 games of the inaugural Premier League season. Disaster struck on Boxing Day of that year, as he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in a game against Leeds. Shearer subsequently scored 96 goals in 117 league games across the next three seasons. Not bad. Then came the second long-term injury. Playing in a pre-season game against Chelsea in the Umbro Cup in 1997, Shearer damaged his ankle ligaments, and missed the opening half of the season. With the World Cup looming the following summer, his hopes of making the England squad to feature in France was shrouded in doubt. Shearer struggled to regain his form instantly, scoring just two goals in 17 Premier League games in the 1997/98 season, and was forced to adapt his game from all-round striker to bonafide target man. The change went fairly well; he scored 121 goals in 255 games across the following eight seasons, this despite continuing to struggle with ankle and knee problems which eventually forced his 2006 retirement. Ruud van Nistelrooy ‘Manchester United have broken the British transfer record to sign PSV Eindhoven striker Ruud van Nistelrooy for £18.5m,’ reads the headline from the BBC Sport in April of 2000. Further down the article is the following sub headline: ‘Deal subject to medical.’ Quite. Van Nistelrooy had been lined up by United to become their most-expensive signing ever, replacing Dwight Yorke in more ways than one. But while United knew they were purchasing a clearly talented striker, they were also aware of the issues – or issue. The Dutch striker had not played for his club, PSV, since March due to recurring problems with his knee. United wanted the forward to undergo keyhole surgery to correct any lingering problems. The striker refused, citing his wish to play at Euro 2000 with Holland. United subsequently called a press conference, thought to be confirming the deal, but they instead announced that they were postponing it for further tests to be carried out. That was on April 25. Three days later, United’s fears turned out to be prescient; Van Nistelrooy ruptured his knee ligaments in a training session, and missed the next year. Of course, the deal was completed 12 months later, with Van Nistelrooy recovered from the injury. After such a long spell on the sidelines, it was expected that he would struggle to regain the form which had seen him score 111 goals in 144 games in the Eredivisie. Not a chance. He scored twice on his Premier League debut, and proceeded to fire in 95 goals in 150 league games for the club.
  15. I give you Alan Shearer, Ruud Van Nistelroy, Xavi, Zlatan, Roy Keane You could probably name a world class team from 1-11 and subs who have recovered from an ACL
  16. Just to add that the father of the boy in the red shirt wanted everyone to know that "Wes conducted himself impeccably and was a credit to himself and Leicester City Football Club" We've come a long way since La Manga and all the better for it. Professional applies both on and off the pitch.
  17. The most remarkable aspect of the documentary is the three shades of puke green Peter Schmeichel has decorated his lounge with.
  18. I met the father of the boy in the red shirt and white cap today. He said Wes was a top man. Every day asking all the kids if they wanted to play football with him and at night time he played the hotel staff when they had finished work. Wes confirmed he'd be back in Feb He's sending the boy a signed shirt
  19. This was posted on my linkedin thread. I've not see so much common sense encapsulated in a single post about vaccination since this pandemic began and i'm sure the vast majority of Foexstalkers will agree; and if it changes just one person's mind........ Matthew Wyles• 2ndChief Executive Officer at Hampshire Trust Bank I'm fully vaccinated w/booster and, no, I don't know what's in it. Neither this vaccine nor those I had as a child. Nor do I know the 11 secret herbs and spices at KFC. I also don't know exactly what's in Ibuprofen or any other painkiller - they just treat my headaches & my pains. I don't know what's in my soap, shampoo or deodorants. I don’t know the long term effect of mobile phone use, or whether or not the staff at that restaurant wash their hands. There's so much I don't know and take on trust. I do know one thing: life is short. Very short. And I, personally, still want to do things. I want to travel and hug people without fear. Throughout my life I've been vaccinated against many diseases: measles, mumps, rubella, polio, chickenpox, hepatitis, influenza, tetanus. I (and my parents) trusted the science, and I never had to suffer or transmit any of those diseases. I'm vaccinated. Not because I’m a sheep or to please HM Government….nor to make other people do it. But I don't want to: die from Covid-19 clutter a hospital bed if I get ill not be able to hug my loved ones not be able to travel & enjoy events live my life in fear. I can't say it with any greater clarity. I'm vaccinated for me and I wear a mask for you. Happy Christmas
  20. Had no idea he was colour blind
  21. Brendan has made the biggest mistake of all - DON'T CRITICISE THE SUPPORTERS The vast majority at the KP still support him and the players, despite the fact we have not performed well since last Feb (FA Cup excepted) Just watching MOTD2 and Tottenham's first half performance was similarly criticised but the difference is they came back to win - and did you see the Conte passion whipping up the crowd and his reaction at the end WOW! As has been said many times in this thread don't give us that over-achieving nonsense. You finish where you deserve to and as for financial strength we are in the top 20 biggest clubs in the world. An apology would be the smart thing to do as Brendan is usually smart and media savvy.
  22. I'd be worried if he hit the ground running, there's a serious risk of further injury there!
  23. And proud of the equal opportunities created for vampires; apart from film, tv and the blood transfusion service where are they supposed to earn a living?
  24. To me this result will always be 1-3 to Leicester! I'm hoping that second half performance will demonstrate that Lookman has to start, we can be much more incisive. Maddison's head needs a wobble and we need to find some stability and consistency in defence, albeit without Evans, Justin and Forfana. I'm confident performances will improve if we play those lads in form and find a system to support the inclusion of seniorman.
