  1. Just watched an interview with John Oliver about his show in America and how people decry him for criticising his adopted country. He says: "You can criticise something because you love it, because you want it to get better" The happy clappers seem to be under some impression that those of us who are critical are doing so just because we want to, because we get a kick out of it. Blind loyalty gets you absolutely nowhere, except in the clutches of those who want you to have blind loyalty so they can continue their agenda or gross mismanagement.
  2. Only came into this thread to find the weird killjoys who claim to be Leicester fans but hold a grudge or hatred against Pearson. Every single time Nigel is mentioned on this forum they come crawling out of the woodwork. Proper weird behaviour to still have nothing but respect and gratitude for what that man did to the club. A club in its knees and had reached its lowest ebb after years of mediocrity. Pulled us up by our bootstraps and pressed the reset button on this club... twice. Gave us 08/09, the great escape of 14/15, the emotions of 09/10 and put us in the position to win the Premier League. I refuse to believe anyone who doesn't like/love/adore/thank/appreciate NP for what he did in two spells here actually supports this club. History won't be kind to the anti-NP lot, especially the state we're in now. (BTW this isn't about the Ranieri/Pearson debate. CR is a legend in his own right, and the feelings, media coverage and way we were in 15/16 were unique to him and him alone. He'll always be the man who took us to the very top and for that he'll always, for me, stand shoulder to shoulder with Nigel (albeit for different reasons.)
  3. Yeah I can't see us being anything other than competitive in the championship just based on how big the gulf in class is getting. Maybe more hope than expectation but I think even with this shower we'd hover around the playoffs at least. Look at the way we dispatched QPR in the cup. That being said, there would be something extra depressing if we were relegated to League 1 ten years after winning the Premier League.
  4. This is bad for many reasons, but you know it's going to shit when the blue on blue starts in the stands. The true sign of toxicity. Usually you can learn from history as all of those bad moments mentioned have been followed by good times. Even 22/23 was followed up with promotion. Can't quite see the light at the end of the tunnel yet, though.
  5. Think you'll find that leaving the game early is heracy on here. Once you're in the stadium, exiting even one second before the final whistle is punishable by death or permanent removal of your season ticket. Seems to have died down a bit, this narrative, but the KPFC snobby lot exist on here still. I'm sure they'll pipe up when times are good again.
  6. This is the phrase. This. Couldn't have put it better myself
  7. Felt guilty about not going to this tonight. Couldn't be arsed if I'm honest. I'll get the guilt trip email from the club tomorrow or Monday asking why I didn't show up, but the truth is this football club has sucked any excitement I might have had out of me.
  8. Where's the fvcking snobs on here who didn't want Moyes and orgasmed at the thought of RVN gone? Quiet as a mouse as always.
  9. All three went back down in 97/98. Missing Crystal Palace. Missing Wolves 03/04 as they came up with us in 02/03 Ipswich didn't come up in 93/94 so shouldn't be on the 94/95 list. Palace did though so they should be there. Man City went down 00/01 after being promoted in 99/00. Missing Middlesbrough in 16/17 after they got promoted in 15/16. Crystal Palace didn't get promoted in 91/92 so shouldn't be on the 92/93 list. Middlesbrough should be though. I've not checked the other seasons out but just from the top of my head list list is quite inaccurate, even if the point about the gap widening is right.
  10. Exactly. And the pushback on here is "what are you doing about it" and it's quite tiring, because lots have done admirable things to try and do something about it, but they're still as pathetic and legless as ever. Nothing wrong with being a club shill if you're just honest about it. The supporters club basically are, the Trust should've just dropped the pretence ages ago. Confidential meetings where we learn nothing, mealy mouthed statements and the spin that they're making an impact. As competent as the club they claim to be holding to account.
  11. Not just targeting this at Blackburn, but any football club that gets salty about manager's making choices about their own career moves can firmly get in the hypocrisy corner and sit very very quietly. An industry which dispatches managers at a moments notice, whether a shiny new one comes around the corner, you go on a bad run or generally just feel like it. You get the loyalty you deserve. Fvck any bitter boardrooms who think any football manager owes them anything.
  12. Feel like every fvcker was linked with us when Mandaric was in charge and that 2007 period. Back in the day I used to be a right sad man and scanned loads of LCFC-related articles. Dumped them on Flickr ages ago so get a sense of the amount of players and managers we were linked with around then, was ridiculous: https://www.flickr.com/photos/lcfcseasonreviews/with/34322565561 (as an aside, you all might enjoy this one, too: https://flic.kr/p/Td89V5)
  13. Proper in the category of only watching RR & Wrestlemania these days. Really enjoyed the women's RR and the ladder match. Fell asleep during the men's RR and that was when watching it in mid-afternoon .
  14. Good luck to the weirdo "I'm alright jack" selfish people who are going to this. Enabling billionaires and watching us lose. What a point to prove 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
  15. I wouldn't worry too much, this user you've quoted is so far up Top's arse he's having a tonguing match with Rudkin. Don't feed those who would still be wearing their knee pads even if we were in the National League.
  16. Don't get impatient for the answer from him, he'll have to wait until the Daily Mail or right wing echo chamber tell him which ones that fits his narrative. Hope we hear soon though.
  17. I think some people seem to forget that players might just have other priorities. We always love to talk about Assou-Ekotto and how he didn't really like football, he was skint good at it. For him, moving to Saudi and earning a tonne of money would've been ideal. Some people just want to maximise their bank balance, and tbh that's okay? The majority want to win something but if Duran spent his entire career at Villa what would he realistically win? Maybe the Europa or a cup under Emery. He might have got a big move but who knows. Form tailing off, injuries can happen at any time. Essentially he's being offered the chance to earn £20m a year tax free for 3-5 years, there's no way his place in the Colombia team is at risk as one of their biggest stars, and he could saunter back into a Villa-level team in five years and he'd only be 26.
  18. Such a shame the Australian one was cancelled after two seasons. I really, really enjoyed both for completely different reasons. Also love that they just let them drive themselves to their missions, too.
  19. I thought the same, I assume they just want all away fans not on coaches to drink in Birmingham and train in/out as quickly as possible. Is there a more unwelcoming or restrictive city for away fans drinking (not counting a high risk/bubble) than Wolverhampton?
  20. The encapsulated problem. For me. Individualistic. It's exactly how they've been able to get away with this nonsense pricing, because someone will always pay it. There are plenty of people who, like you, can afford to go and can make the time, but they are rightly taking the high ground and refusing to pay a minimum £50 for a ticket to a fourth round FA Cup game on TV on a Friday night. It absolutely stinks, and when they inevitably get rid of the £30 cap I hope there's plenty more collective disgust than there is "I'm alright Jack".
  21. And it's worked to a tee. Look at them all in this thread. Very quiet over the last week but this PR piece has them crawling out of the woodwork to defend a billionaire scrabbling for credit.
  22. Like when an abusive husband buys a Givenchy handbag. All is forgiven, what was wrong with them in the first place?
  23. Great headline though, just as momentum starts to build against his increasingly terrible ownership of the club. Some would call it convenient timing...
  24. Yeah anyone who goes to this deserves to have their season ticket raised 50% and remove the £30 cap for them on away PL games. If you're willing to pay these prices then you're silly enough to pay anything.
  25. Yes, as others have mentioned, the whole issue of searches is completely inconsistent nonsense at the minute. I get the bag search, even if I still think it's a bit much, but the fact people are searched basically on the whim of the stewards is what sticks in the craw. If you're not searching everyone, then how is it decided? Every tenth person? The vibes you give off? The conscious/unconscious bias of the stewards? Cos they're bored? You do everyone or you do no one. You can't pretend you're taking our security seriously if you're not going to check everyone going in. All it comes across is as performative nonsense if you're not going to do it properly.
