In a quandary about Mexico game - part of me wants to go pub to enjoy the uniqueness of a 1am England game in a major tournament at the pub. That's fine, and a fair point, but there's no denying they were also absolutely abysmal against both Ivory Coast and Curacao, and I'm not sure why that seemed to be forgotten, especially as they were playing a hyped and confident Mexico team in Mexico. It is a shame with their track record going in they weren't any better - I'm being harsh but the tournament would've been a damn sight better for them being in that qualifying form.

Honestly I don't disagree at all with this. I don't think GS should've led us into this tournament. The issue I have is the complete trashing of 2018, 2021 and 2024 as if we were complete shit. Maybe we didn't play great football but we got as far as we ever have in years and years, and the assumption from some that the magic key to success was anyone but him was always rocky.
