  1. The whole scenario is a powder keg. Right wing nutters who lack education and comprehension. Easily susceptible to lies, rumours and their pin-up idols encouraging them whilst those idols take their money and direct it all from another country or a nice big comfy house. It's a shame that they couldn't even wait until the vigil had been done before they caused the carnage they so craved. I dare say many of those people there yesterday, and some on here based on the attitudes we've been exposed to, are more gleeful than angry about the events on Monday. Gives them the chance to spout their nonsense, go out and riot, snort the white stuff, be racist and have a scrap all whilst having a "reason".
  2. It's compelling isn't it? I'm finding the same with volleyball. The indoor volleyball is absolutely fantastic. Think it helps that all the archery/volleyball I've seen have been close games, but they're such a great watch!
  3. Can I be really lazy and not doing my own research. Am thinking of going to a game this weekend. Anyone know Leicestershire based teams playing at home worth popping along to see?
  4. Quite. One of my favourite college football hosts is a brilliant, balanced, educated and accomplished presenter. On the podcast he co-presents he's said several times that he's never had a passport, and may only need one for the college football game they play in Dublin. He cris-crosses the country every year without one and doesn't need one. He's 58 years old and seemingly has no interest in leaving the country. Really widens your eyes at the attitude tbh.
  5. Good luck to all the England watchers tonight who are secretly desperate to lose so they can blame players and particularly the manager as they live in perpetual negativity, have a pleasant evening. For everyone else who actually wants us to win, enjoy every second because this era of semi finals might not be what we want each time, but the anticipation and build up is lovely. Miles better than the preceding decades, anyway.
  6. The lefty lefts and the righty rights of this forum uniting in their hatred of Labour already. You've got five more years to keep falling in love with each other, all whilst your quality of life and public services actually have chance to improve finally. Enjoy it
  7. This is so shit. I basically had this four years ago and ended up buying a house that was miles better than the one that fell through. Feel deflated but feel determined to start again and keep going. It's a long game but it does end well for you... eventually
  8. You and the ones on the right side of history keep to your principles. The rest on their knees unzipping the fly will inevitably get burnt one day.
  9. The usual lot will be along soon to spout this and see nothing at all wrong with it. Same zombies will be down the shop getting their mitts on this grubby, ugly new shirt, too.
  10. Yeah it's just gonna get lobbed around soaking everyone so people can either film it for scenes or try to make as many LIMBS as possible. Plus you'll inevitably get the cup chucking we've seen in this Euros, too. Football fans are, in the main, arseholes, so this hopefully won't happen.
  11. Glendenning is definitely marmite. I can handle him but he can be very hard work. Max offsets him definitely sometimes. On FW and Duncan Alexander (who is a bit like Michael Cox in the smug stakes sometimes) I've always had this irrational theory that James Richardson isn't a massive fan of Duncan's. He can seem quite dismissive of him sometimes, or quite bored of his attempts at humour. Probably complete BS though.
  12. Devoted listener to this, never noticed it though I bet upon everything I will from now on. I tend to find that Carl Anka on that pod always tries to start a point with an inflection that attempts to make it really profound. Such a shame about that pod tbh because I find it really far behind Football Weekly, and their Euro pod has become incredibly "matey", too
  13. See you all in two years when we're inevitably let down after all the hype, hope and expectation.
  14. Then they need to take it up with government. Housing allocations are enforced on local authorities and Blaby have to allocate land for employment and housing. They also have a requirement to help the city with theirs. If they don't then govt can step in and do it for them. Their ire is misdirected. I call them nimbys because I guarantee 100% that these people would not give the slightest shit if this hub or homes were in Sharnford, or Glenfield, or Coubtesthorpe. They just wouldn't. They'd be relieved it wasn't Enderby, and that's why a nimby is. Only cares when it's anywhere near them. I fully agree tbh that we shouldn't be tacking on houses to villages. It's not sustainable. Problem is people scream at that, but then scream at the thought of large, sustainable developments like the proposed Whetstone Pastures scheme or New Lubbesthorpe. So where do these homes go? NL is a sustainable development that will house thousands of people and is a nice place to walk around and, importantly, have facilities in place when completed. It's gotta go somewhere because the councils have to. Whilst I'm on this train, I wish a council or councillor had the bollocks to sue someone accusing them if brown envelopes for defamation. Would shut that pathetic accusation up, too.
  15. The issue is that they should've tried harder in 2019 when it was being allocated in the local plan. As soon as it was in there they had no chance. This nimby nonsense has been so tiresome, and could've cost the council so much money in appeals after they turned up and pressured cllrs to refuse it. Infrastructure is needed, and the relief road would be welcome for sure. But the instigators of that group seem to spend their time opposing anything. From Wimpy Park to this to the 800 homes at Santander/golf course* they are very emotional. The worst thing is the wilful misrepresentation of cllrs and council staff in this, tbh *Honestly their opposition to the 800 homes I don't have a massive issue with. They're doing it at the local plan phase, like they should've done with the hub. Still feels very nimby though.
  16. Nice to find someone else who actually has some common sense about this hub (assuming you're referring to Enderby). The noise and nonsense around that has been an utter joke.
  17. Corbyn cultists desperate for a Labour government to fail so they can say "told you so" because they're only actually any good at saying "told you so" or shouting from the wings of irrelevancy. One day in power and a Corbyn govt would've shit themselves almost immediately.
  18. This has Survation predicting Reform to win Mid Leicestershire. Holy moly* EDIT: That's the only one of the many polling companies referenced, the holy moly is for dramatic effect.
  19. When you get excited for new kit updates and it's just sales pitch posts from reseller of fakes. Disappointing tbh
  20. Similar to that American film from 1943 that was going round the other day (was it on here as well?) about spotting fascism. Start with populist nonsense and ratchet up as your popularity increases. You'll get away with more and more as people latch onto you. I suspect there will be a fair few people who were just a bit disenfranchised with Britain being in the European Union who will now, years on, be stoutly pro-Russian and doing Farage's work for him on everything. Who knows where it'll end. Agree though - he does it brilliantly and he knows exactly how to sucker these types in. There's money to be made, there's adulation to be taken and there's attention to be garnered. It's almost intriguing to see how far his cult of personality will go, and what, if anything, would topple it? In some ways his greatest con is convincing the working and middle class that he's just like them or one of them. In reality he never has been, doesn't have their interests at heart. He's a user but he says the right things and activates that unhinged fear in the brains of so many. In terms of seats, I've been fascinated by this. I read something that his voter demographic isn't split evenly enough to take seats, though who knows what this true figure is. Loads of us were complacent on Brexit night, and 17m said out. How many have really drunk the right-wing kool-aid? I think we'll be shocked at the # of votes, though seats will be very very minimal.
  21. I did not have Farage v Daily Mail on my election bingo card, tbh. What will the Mail readers do, they'll be in agony over their favourite paper v their eternal and great leader
  22. But I thought every other decent team in the tournament had been attacking, defending and tactical masterclasses who blew away their really difficult and hard opposition, and it's only England who have been below par??
  23. People like that get to vote, as well. Maddening isn't it?
  24. I don't think they've ever claimed it's random. There's a huge amount of logic and planning around the fixtures and it just makes sense for teams to play at certain times of year. We played Liverpool on Boxing Day in 1994 (H), 1996 (A), 2015 (A), 2019 (H) and 2024 (A). There's clearly a reason, similar to why we've played Ipswich Town a lot in January over the years. Everyone is so pathetically quick to throw a tin hat and shout conspiracy for no reason when in fact it falls that way for a reason.
