  1. Same imbeciles probably also detest VAR and expect perfection from referees when in fact they're human, just like players who might make a mistake 🤷🏻
  2. I paid £140 for a new battery just on Tuesday. Had to be done on my driveway but £45 callout fee and £97 for the battery and the 10 mins it took to replace. Granted it's a car not a van but I mean still...
  3. Just to note that on both of those matchdays (Good Friday & Easter Monday) they have live games involving us, Ipswich and Leeds in the same order: 12:30 - Us (Bristol City A & Norwich H) 17:30 - Ipswich (Blackburn A & Soton H) 20:00 - Leeds (Watford A & Hull H) Might not matter at all really, but the whole narrative about "going first" and others playing later to chase based on the result could be interesting
  4. How the internet seems to have turned into water rescue experts since that poor lad went missing in the canal last Sunday
  5. Fair few variables for this game and when it'll be played: Pick order is ITV, BBC, BBC, ITV. We're definitely going to be third pick by BBC Man Utd-Liverpool has to be a Sunday due to Europa, meaning that the Man City game has to be a Saturday BBC will probably want to avoid the Six Nations games they have that day (2:15pm kick off). They might stick the Wales-Italy game on BBC2 though. Suspect they'll wait till 5:30 for the Man City game though West Brom are at home on the Saturday, so West Mids police may force the Wolves game not to be the same day BBC have Comic Relief on the Friday night, meaning only ITV are likely to use the Friday night slot if it was going to be used. Feel it's unlikely either BBC/ITV want to put any QF games on their secondary channels So we could have Wolves on the Friday, Man City Saturday evening and us on the Sunday with the Man Utd-Liverpool game. Also wouldn't rule out a three-game Sunday and us getting some sickening 6pm kick off.
  6. Cue the comments under here with terms like "whitewash", "how convenient" or anything that essentially makes it out to be a cover up. And yet, with no verified information as to why the investigation was carried out in the first place, everyone has found Horner guilty. In this day and age no information leads to a vacuum, filled by scurrilous rumours and speculation. What's quite amazing in the world is that people seem to espouse and like the term "innocent until proven guilty" until it's someone they don't like. Anyone of any intellect would go "I am in no way properly informed on the details of this investigation, therefore can only take the judgement at face value." Pretty sure that's not going to happen in this thread though
  7. Here's the common sense. Honestly the hoops council contracts need to go through just to get passed internally there's little chance of corruption. Same with planning applications. Brown envelopes being the classic accusation. Wish a Cllr or council would take someone to court one day for these lazy smears tbh, they'd clean up. This is the problem though. Whether it's "SOULSBY CORRUPT" or brown envelopes, or "we want our council tax back then" when services are cut, the lack of knowledge and wilful unwillingness for the public to understand what councils do or how they work is the massive issue. Councils aren't by any means perfect. Some council officers aren't either, but when you see some of the eye-watering costs of things like adult social care, SEND, SEND transport, the drain of staff from specialist positions and ZERO increases basically from the Govt in terms of income, councils will inevitably struggle. There was an FOI a few months ago which revealed that in the county one child in the care system with complex needs costs around £700k per year to look after. That's not cos the Director's mate runs the company that houses the child, it's because the care system is grossly expensive and that's the market rate. There's another stat that for every foster carer a council secures, it saves them £500k per year compared to a private fostering company. Why? Cos numbers outstrip demand so the market's price adjusts accordingly. The county council have already basically come out and said roads will get worse cos we can't afford to fix them properly. They're doing what they can but even they recognise it's not perfect. When Leicester goes pop all the anti-SPS will be jubilant, blame it on his vanity projects and cycle lanes blah blah but in reality the worse off will suffer because councils cannot cope with the rising costs of things as well as lack of government support.
  8. I think I made this point over a year ago on there, but it's one giant circular thread. Same points, same criticism, same gatekeeping over and over and over and over again after pretty much every match. Locking on to people leaving early has also made it even more insufferable and circular, especially as someone made the point it's been happening since Filbo days.
  9. This is the thing. I accept that lots of people who have profited from the conservatives in power would happily vote for them again. But I cannot comprehend that "normal" people on average incomes who need public services like the NHS will honestly look at the last 14 years and the current state of the country and say "yeah you know what we need, another five years of this." Surely even the most dyed-in-the-wool tory should realise you need to have a spell not in power after so long. Regroup, recuperate, try and be less bloody unhinged and work your way back up.
  10. Bashing the BBC Bashing Labour Royal picture Delusional headline about Britain Proper full house from the Express there
  11. In time, just like that Deeney moment, we'll come look back at the Cov defeat with a wry smile, if we're not already. The more we impress, pull away and leave them for dust, and the more their fans seem to get full of nostalgia over the win for ultimately no reason, the more amused we'll be.
  12. Just came to post about this. We're getting to the point where people seem to actively LIKE getting wound up, upset and angry about things. Team of the week rage is almost a desperation move
  13. Why do we want to put 275,000 people worldwide out of a job, just out of interest, 7,000 of whom are in the UK? Not sure what I missed to want to put so many people out of work?
  14. People in 10 years time. "Did you see the council do that ridiculous thing?" "No?" "Yeah it happened like three weeks ago, a mate has just told me he read a 340 page council report on their website." "Oh, no, I didn't hear, there was no coverage anywhere." "Well everyone trashed local journalism to the point it was no longer financially viable and we got rid of the BBC so there's literally no scrutiny on local democracy anymore because big media doesn't give a shit about it" "Oh. Well I still hate Peter Soulsby anyway lol." Leicestershire Live and Reach are not perfect. They absolutely are not. But careful what tf you wish for because when it's gone it ain't coming back. When you don't hear about local court trials, local issues, council decisions and council scrutinising, you'll whine and whine and whine about it but no-one gave a damn when local journalism was dying. The reason LL is so crap now is because it has to cater to the lowest common denominator. It's been brow beaten for years. If people did actually pay for it in decent numbers it might be able to sustain itself, change its model and cater better to local people for local issues. Instead it gets castigated for trying to get some more money in the coffers whilst it tries to fight its seemingly inevitable demise.
  15. Again to reiterate to Everton fans, if you think the league is so corrupt why are you still in it? Escape to the sanctity of the EFL and renounce your promotions should you ever get them. Stop holding your sad little cards and wearing your weird hoodies and do something. Resign from the Premier League. The crying and wailing over this is absolutely unhinged. These rules are fine until they're applied to you then it's wrong and corrupt. Misrepresenting and misunderstanding the huge complexities of the Man City case, also, is really annoying.
  16. I watched the Aus version last autumn. It's actually insane at how incompetent they are. The main person is Paul x100 imo and the select few who are taken in deserve everything they get. The ending is brilliant though. It really is an infuriatingly good watch. Brilliant series. Been cancelled in Aus though after two seasons which is a shame, enjoyed both.
  17. Hang on. I've got no real horse in this race tbh, but why is that choice so binary? If we played "really entertaining" football (whatever the definition of boring and really entertaining is idc right now) why does that automatically mean we'd finish seventh? How do you know we wouldn't finish top, or second, or playoffs? Or is it to push the narrative in disagreeing against Oz?
  18. Going for the bingo card on this one in reply to this. "Everyone else is doing it" "That website is lying" "We need as much money as we can to meet FFP, I don't care where it comes from" "Bet you'd rather see us in League 2" "Who is it even harming?" "So what?" "Top made us PL Champions you traitorous bastard"
  19. The tories over on the Tigers forum salivating at the prospect of this already. Shouldn't criticise too much though, a good portion of our fanbase would be hammering the Saudi flag emoji if we were in similar position.
  20. Amazing isn't it. Stick a football club logo on someone who has committed a criminal offence and fans come flocking to mitigate or defend. Happens all the time with all fanbases. Luckily even the most ardent won't support the worst crimes, but failing to provide a sample and the words "mistake" come popping up.
  21. That's more societal than the smoking ban, come on now. Smoking is at such a low level, especially with younger people. If pubs, bars and clubs were still smokey clouds I guarantee people would be voting with their feet and keeping them empty. Pretty sure smokers couldn't alone keep those places going. The rise of drinking at home, cost of drinking and socialising not taking place in those places are also contributing factors. Keeping pubs alive was not a reason to keep exposing innocent people to second hand smoke.
  22. Apparently the celebrity rumour has been debunked already but it's likely they'll want to do one at some point. I'd much prefer them to have Taskmaster style contestants and level of "celeb" than reality stars who will inject the overselling hype they're used to doing in their own show. I'd suspect you'd get a smattering of comedians of Jason Manford level, the odd reality person, maybe a strictly dancer and couple of presenters like Stacey Dooley.
  23. The only thing that's giving it any kind of attention is Ronaldo, and he's only keeping it relevant for self promotion purposes. Other than that, all the big names including Neymar and Benzema have fallen into complete obscurity. I've said in the past I'm not that bothered if players go to earn the mega millions. It is a career at the end of the day. But more fool them if they, or the Saudi league, expected anything other than what's happening now.
  24. Gotta say there's something about Nick Siriani unnecessarily aggressive barking at officials that winds me up quite a lot, so agree with this.
  25. So you're saying they manufacture it so that the big clubs can get relegated, but ensure they won't get relegated? Isn't fixing the league around what the big clubs want exactly not what we want here? Power and money to the biggest clubs (who we know will run with this) is again exactly not what football needs right now. It's bad enough as it is under UEFA, never mind what happens when it's concentrated in the hands of the big teams who will be in charge. They'll squeeze and squeeze and squeeze. I'm not sure what big team/anti-UEFA pill you've swallowed, but it's quite powerful isn't it?
