We know that netenyahu would probably want to continue the aggro for political reasons or at the very least get a capitulation from Hezbollah (which I can’t see happening either). my point is that it’s tough to see how this resolves without escalating further.

Then netenyahu has to calculate what constitutes the biggest existential threat to Israel. this all comes down to Iran - how much do they want a war in s Lebanon. It could be that they feel they can protect their ongoing nuclear developments by ensuring that Israel are distracted elsewhere.
