Direct from PL website... They are: - Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time. - The maximum number of loans registrable in the same season is four, and, under no circumstances, shall more than one be from the same club at any one time. - Premier League clubs cannot loan to another Premier League club a player they have acquired in the same transfer window. - A Premier League club may loan not more than one of its goalkeepers to another Premier League club.
-
That's from 2023. Rules changed again at the start of this window.
-
"It is worth noting that these restrictions don't apply to players under the age of 21 or "homegrown" talents, who are defined as players who have spent time at their current club or another in the same country for at least three years between the ages of 15 and 21."
-
Buonanotte is u21 and Zaha is homegrown. Neither would count as one of the two loan registrations.
-
Nah, it's just in general but having dug into the rules a little, Buonanotte wouldn't count as one as he is under 21 and Zaha wouldn't count as one as he is homegrown so we could still have two more.
-
Vardy, Mavididi, Fatawu and Zaha on the counter attack!
-
Looks from that like he could also play a deep lying playmaker role (which I'm sure Cooper will have is play beside a CDM.)
-
Yeah, I'm unsure of that myself but from my interpretation of the rules, he would have had to be under 21 AND have played for BHFC for 3 years.
-
Would he be more the out and out CM?
-
Well, atleast if we get this and Buonanotte done, that's all our loan deals used up and anything else will be permanent deals.
-
I've always though we needed a Striker, a LB, a winger, a CM and a CAM. This guy is either going to be the CAM or the winger. I hope it's the former as it's not only his supposed best position but I'd want the winger we sign to be comfortable on both wings to give us more options.
-
I might be wrong but I think Buonanotte IS the #10 target. Any Brighton fan I've seen talk about him has made clear its his best position and he's by no stretch a winger.
-
Yeah, sure. Not taking a chance on these types of signings means we can't progress. That's a fair comment but it also means that if he flops we aren't out by millions with a dud on the wage bill so we won't fall further into the hole either. Plus, if he does help keep us up and doesn't cost a lot to do it then next season, we will not only be better off financially but we wont have a points deduction hanging over us and will be able to attract better players.
-
We've only got two out and out wingers. Mcateer, Alves, BDR and this Buonanotte lad can play there but none of them are actual wingers.
-
Maybe, but he'd also cost well over £10m and demand more in wages which carries a far bigger risk than this guy, all off the back of his one and only good season at a level below what we will be playing. If this guy fails, it's back to Brighton with him. If Szmodics fails, we are stuck carrying him along with all the other duds.
-
If he turns out to be a "baller" and it helps keep us up then who cares? Job done.
-
I like that the IP has said we are still hunting 3/4 more players on tip of this because I think that's about right. This. LB. Winger. CM. Striker.
-
I honestly couldn't give a toss if we are helping develop Brightons players. All that matters is improving our team, right now. This season and from the little I've seen of him, I think he would be our best starting #10 at this current time. I like #10's who also work hard as well as adding creativity and he definately appears to do that.
-
I would have liked him here, he's a good player but seeing that makes not getting him easier to swallow. He is NOT a £30m player. He just isn't. Yes, one goal/assist every two games over 122 is impressive but I also don't think it translates well to a team who won't have nearly as much possession and are playing against teams much better than them. As his 3 assists and 0 goals in 12 UCL games demonstrates.
-
Just to add some context to those 60 league appearances... it's 2465 minutes. That's a total of 27 full games. Over 3 seasons. He got the same amount of PL game time for Spurs that Dennis Praet got for us.
-
He's a weird one. Never got a proper run at it uo here. Never looked happy. I don't know if he just didn't settle but something is off. Would be a risk that I would have taken last year but not this.
-
Selling a player for €5m then having another club you own pay much much more for that same player in the same window isn't what I'd call "making too much sense."
-
All their surnames begin with a music note so someone who's name starts with a G or a E.
-
The claim that we only have around £20m left is clearly nonsense. We know that we were willing to spend about that on Soule so we are to believe that he was to be our only other signing?
-
Close the transfer section if that's the case.
