More signs that the academy is starting to work - never ever a £12m player

I am not sure about most fans but I am in the Stevo camp - I do not care as long as we get rid of as many of this shower as possible - I in 40+ years despite watching us through pleat, taylor times etc have never felt more disconnected to our club than now - the academy is starting to work and the model of developing your own to either be in the first team or ship out for money like Chelsea is a way to move forward. A starter for me would be to get a team on the pitch that I can at least get behind - I do not want to see any of Faes, VK, Soumare in our shirt again - I can cope with Winks, Daka and a couple of them if they want to stay and be part of our recovery....the likes of McAteer were never good enough which is probably similar for Thomas but at least they tried when selected. Hopefully this is the start of a significant clearout now MC has had time to have a look and there can be no way he has not realised we basically need new fullbacks, a centre half, a central midfield and a striker - we may not get all of that but if we can get rid of some of the problems we can move forward with youth too if needed - I am not convinced all of our youngsters are quite ready or as good as some on here think but I do genuinely believe that whatever Top is as a Chairman (maybe out of his depth and certainly not a business man like his father) that he wants success and he will be ambitious to get us back - he may be under constraints around PSR and yes, some poor decisions have been taken but also the rules have hit us harder than anyone because we dared to try and compete with the Top6 and failed to sustain it!

Whilst I completely agree unfortunately the club is rudderless and we could see back in April that basically you could sell the lot but the recruitment team have shifted only a fraction of the issue - Marti is probably aware that we need to shift about 6 more but benching or reserving them won’t help matters - we need Bilal to go to provide some flexibility I would imagine then we could ship out basically everyone bar the kids and Fatawu which no one would disagree with but just can’t see it……we won’t be able to judge him until he has rid of all the experienced entitled idiots……this season is a right off already and we need to do what Nige did by clearing out all the twonks and bringing in hungry players like James, Drinky, Etc alongside some youngsters but it was all about building an identity which we definitely don’t have now - its really sad to see how we have fallen and 3 games in we can all see its a car crash AGAIN!!!

We need midfielders more than a striker imo - getting the ball to a striker and having the balance defensively and attack wise we have no options at all - send Soumare on loan, sell winks if he does not want to be here and take Skipp and put him in one - we need 2 midfielders at least !!

We are too quick to build youngsters up as Alves broke into an injury hit squad very young then had a terrible injury before recovering and playing 20 games or so in the champs in a relegated side where he was average. Defenders and midfielders so young need to be top top quality to physically and mentally be ready to play under the expectations we have especially with such limited men’s football experience - Monga maybe an exception due to his unbelievable talent but we want promotion and some of the youngsters just need to play - be it league 1 or 2 some like Alves just need to play. Like Nelson he is not ready to play top end expectation championship football and needs a loan - than less we write the season off and bed in youngsters in the belief over time we can get up.

Whilst having potential we have lots of those already in Evans, Monga, Alves, Jospeh, Page, Aluko to name a few - I would much rather us sell off those that we can raise funds for those who do not want to be here - if that means we have funds for one or two players then get the right players - I think a quality striker is critical and probably one who is slightly more proven even if overseas otherwise we will stick with Ayew and Daka plus a loanee!

Over Bilal and Justin - both likely to leave - I would drop Skipp too but maybe Hamza could play as he must offer more

Monga has to start to get a full debut plus if he rips it up we can take him off after 60 minutes - need to give the lad a proper run. He needs careful management as Alves was over hyped and his injury has not helped his development - otherwise I would go stronger as he can learn more about them and with 5 subs it can still be managed - we need to get into a habit of winning and also he will know which are likely to leave !

You cannot play Nelson and Okoli together as they are both not as good at passing as the manager wants - Okoli looked poor positionally and was awful on the ball - Nelson has the potential but whilst I despise them both Vesty and Faes are better players - if we do a proper rebuild I agree Nelson should play more but we will be in for a transitional season if they do that across the team

I would rather have Daka in Soumares place but is not going to happen - players don’t just move position without a good reason and McAteer has less ability than BS imo - both are rubbish!!

Great post and you could have added that has been the case for the past 2-3 years and we need to bring in players who either short term get us up and we only sign them for a max of 2 seasons or players that can grow like Bilal - tough to find but can be done with James, Drinkwater, Knockaert, Mahrez all proof of it from 12 years ago - we need a similar plan and policy to recruit! marti will need to have a clear vision !

Ayew looked better when Daka came on as he had more space - still shoots far too much when better options on but when you have him, Daka stretching the defence and Bilal plus the wide boys we have some attacking threat - games at home will be difficult because everyone will come and sit in so we will have lots of possession. Width from full back over lapping and finding space will be a premium - unfortunately Thomas and Justin added little.

Apart from his feet as he put it out about 6 times - Mind we had a world class keeper who used to do that and he won the prem!

As always Wednesday fans were superb - over the years they are consistently in the top 3 for noise and constant singing

It’s not about being a snowflake but he’s a complete tossr who thinks he is way better than he is - and if he cared one jot over his time here we would support him - his lack of self awareness having been instrumental in two relegations and believing he’s above us all is what gets under my skin

I think he's the most likely candidate to get a loan with option deal, be lucky to get a £1m loan fee mind you but we'll then probably look to a new signing below £6 to be no worse off for the season. edited to correct it Ric - he’s doggo and will celebrate like promotion if he goes

Yes an elite elite sportsman and a business transformer who actually has invested in the area properly - time will tell I have a feeling Davies maybe a quick learner but getting the blues up will determine his real qualities - I fancy them and ITFC this season to be the powers in the division.

Interesting how people interpret things differently - i was quite impressed with his tactical awareness and he’s quite bright - Wagner and Brady will get Blues to the prem very quickly and will have a big impact in Birmingham in regenerating a part of the city - love or loathe the personalities they know what they are doing and the single minded dynamic leadership was refreshing.

We need to be slightly careful as there first half team was an experimental 11 with only 3 or 4 starters - although I was impressed with Okolio and Thomas who both looked good whilst what can you say about Abdul !!!
