  1. Is Maddison representing us as a Premier League or Championship player? Just for the Leicester players who've represented us at international level from the lower tiers stats.
  2. Not sure if this has already been said up thread, but it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if we'd stayed up, and Villa hadn't made Europe. I know that's two if's, but not outrageous ones. Would he have really seen the move as a step up? Or, had it just gone stale here for him, and he needed a fresh challenge, even if it was on a similar level?
  3. I agree with all that, and we were mismanaged in comparison. I still wouldn't be at all surprised if Brighton don't maintain their lofty position though. Newcastle on the other hand have the revenue fom a larger ground, and significantly none of their stars want away. They've been able to sell the dream of a top seven to their players, where we never could. If Isak had been at our place, he'd be on his way. All this with a lower wage bill. So even though we throw more money at it, our stars; Maddison, Tielemans always wanted away at some stage. I think we'll always be middle sized, and with that there will always be a possibility of relegation. The Premier League is just too good. I'll keep my eye on Atalanta and Sevilla's progress.
  4. If we were destined to reach the heights you talk of, with relegation a thing of the past, why couldn't the likes of Mahrez, Kante, Maguire, and Fofana see that? Surely they'd have a better understanding than most that it was about to become the top seven now instead of the top six. Like I've said above, Brighton already going the same way, with two of their key players set to leave.
  5. My understanding is covid hit King Power badly, and that filtered down to the football club.
  6. And yet many are saying we are in a financial mess, so not quite sure if your launch pad is structurally safe. The top six are never in danger of relegation. I don't think we'd achieved that level. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Brighton, Villa, and Brentford were fighting off relegation in a year or so. A section of their fans won't be contemplating the possibility of relegation right now. You could argue the first seeds gave already been sown at Brighton with them set to lose two key players, just when they need them to stay and push on. Remind you of anyone?
  7. I genuinely do not understand the financial situation at the club. I wish someone with real knowledge of it would explain. So many posters on here trying to make out we should have become this progressive club that was challenging the top six. Really? If that's the case, then we have money. Others saying we had money to buy players when Rodgers wanted them, it was just that our hands were tied with financial fair play. If we are that big then, why can't we buy our way out of the Championship? Or maybe we're not as big as some like to think, and maybe relegation was always a possibility. For example Liverpool will not go down by next season or the season after, but Brighton could. Have we got money; yes/no? If it's no, then why, when we were touted as giving very rich owners? The picture is very confusing.
  8. You've got posters having a go at a woman who works in the ticket office, people wanting a fan's letter to Top to tell him to f off. People condoning old men getting punched in front of their grandkids. Half of it is not even about the team. Not good. I think some of our fan base need a dose of the Championship to get some reality. Some Johnny come lately's have been spoilt. It's been a poor season, and mistakes have been made. We all know that. However, when you've supported them as long as I have, you know that relegation is part and parcel.
  9. There's some embarrassing and ridiculous threads/posts tonight across the forum. We're all low, and that's understandable, but the toxicity is terrible. I do normally enjoy reading some educated, funny posts on this forum. Hopefully it's in the moment. We're all still fans, and always will be.
  10. We don't know who will stay, who will leave, or who will retire in the summer. For example it might be the last time to say thank you to the legend that is Jamie Vardy. Hopefully you'd agree he deserves a clap. I don't know the circumstances but if it's true, it's appalling.
  11. Going to stick some money on Everton to stay up to soften the blow. Just got to get the optimum amount, so if they don't, it doesn't tarnish the celebrations.
  12. Surprised Amartey was selected ahead of Ricky P. and KDH last night unless they're injured. I presume Soyoncu was injured as well?
  13. Same thing may happen if we score early though; go all defensive. I'd hope we'd go all out for a second goal but it wouldn't surprise me if we dropped back. I'd be happy with an early lead though!
  14. I still think we should have tried to take the game to them more last night. I accept it took Leeds out of our survival equation, and put us in theirs. Imagine needing to win and have two other results that have to go in your favour. So I do get that, but I still think it will mean we'll fall short, whereas a win last night... If we do stay up though, we'll have to be able to compete more with teams than what we saw last night, or we'd only be putting off relegation for a season.
  15. Surprised at the general reaction that it was okay. We had to win that and we only tried to do so for five minutes ar the end. But for the post, and a couple of good saves it could/should have been 5-0. We all know Everton will beat Bournemouth. We've just sealed our fate. To be honest though do we want to stay up if we're watching teams tickle our tummies for 85 minutes? There was effort, from most. That's it. Disappointed with that.
  16. Hardly working though. They've hit the post twice.
  17. Can't carry on like this. As we get more tired, it's just a matter of time. Ndidi done very little. Presume Mendy injured. Have to go for it at some point. We need to win. Even though we've two up front, it's like we are playing a lone striker, they've had so little effect. I'll say 3-0.
  18. Surely not going for a draw tonight. There's no point in doing that. You need it in your hands on the final day. Got to go all out tonight.
  19. Best player on the bench 🤔
  20. I do know what you mean. I grew up in Leeds, have lived all my life in Leeds, but supported Leicester since 1974, when I adopted them following a school project. I was nine and the teacher had said we had to write about anything, but said she didn't want all the boys writing about Leeds. Being football mad, that was the green light to still write about football. I picked the next club alphabetically, and there you go, nearly 50 years later. My dad and brother are both Leeds. Edit: Curious. Did you have a connection, or just adopt City for some reason?
  21. My five year old grandson hasn't got off to the best of starts as a supporter. This is his first real year of following teams, and he's still undecided between Grandad's Leicester or Dad's Leeds. At the moment he's favouring Leicester. I'm trying to steer him towards Leeds, as it's just easier for school with his mates, and getting to matches. I thought if one team went down it might sway him. May well be both. Tried to get him to follow Forest and Everton just for the last three weeks but it didn't work. Certainly the luck not with him yet.
  22. If we can't stay up, I really hope Leeds do. Sick of Everton. Really is time they had a dose of the Championship.
  23. I remember us being hammered 5-1 at Leeds and the guy on the tannoy said "is there anybody here from Leicester?" Silence. I don't think there was. I was in the Leeds end with my dad. 🤦
  24. A bit like Python's four Yorkshiremen sketch but trust me 1978 was worse. "We used to dream of having eight wins." We'd been a fairly stable mid-table team under Jimmy Bloomfield when Frank McLintock took over. He increased the average age by about 10 years, brought in a load of his old Arsenal team mates and....oh dear. We even lost to Portsmouth in the first League Cup game, and Walsall in the second FA Cup game. "We'd be 20 NIL down before we'd even kicked off, have 15 players sent off, an't referee would award a penalty against us every 10 minutes. Aye and police would thrash us with us scarf on't way owt." Seriously it was worse. One commentator actually queried if we'd had our name changed by deed poll to "Leicester City NIL." In a family of Leeds fans, I adopted this club in 1974, and I've seen 2 League Cup wins, an FA Cup, and a Premier league title. If I'd stayed with Leeds I'd have seen one title. If I'd picked Newcastle, I'd still be waiting for anything. It's what we do, win the second division/Championship. We'll be back!👊
  25. The survival door is slightly open again. If only we were in a false position, and capable of getting something tomorrow😕
