I guess….as much as I loved Heskey in the day, I think Vardys got a bit more in the legs even at this stage of his life. Just feel like it would give us a chance to scope the market during the season

Would a 6-month deal work for both parties if MLS is his destination? If the money was right now were moving on some of the other higher earners it could come to something - keeps him fit, we have another striking options who just so happens to be the most decorated player in our history. win/win for both as when he goes we might have some room for maneuver in the january window

Do we go into this coming season, without any new incoming players?
SB87_LCFC replied to Sly's topic in Leicester City Forum
I had a look on Spotrac this morning to look at last season salaries and some of them made me feel physically sick if they are correct. We stand absolutely no chance of offloading some of this dross as they won't be willing to take pay cuts elsewhere. If these are accurate, given the relegation wage drop clause of 35%, currently we have the following players on these salaries this coming season Winks - £58,500 Soumare - £52,000 Ricardo - £52,000 Daka - £48,750 Ndidi - £48,750 Coady - £48,750 To add to these high wages, all apart from Wilf are in the final year of their respective deals. I cannot see anyone wanting any of them for any type of transfer fee, knowing they'll likely get them on a free next summer. With the set up we seem to have adopted for the first couple of friendlies, there seems to be an indication we are going to tap into the academy as we might get a transfer ban. We are crying out for a no.9 who can play into Cifuentes style of play, but we may have to adopt a false 9 or go for broke with Jake Evans, Stephy as a make shift striker or throw it all on Daka (God help us!) -

I totally agree on this, but if rumors' are true and he is one of those tossing if off, I'd sooner he be shown the door. -

Premier League has charged LCFC with an alleged breach of PSR
SB87_LCFC replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
Until it's set in stone we can't make any judgement calls. PSR and breaches is a lot of old nonsense as other clubs have been breaking the rules for years and getting away with it. We get what we deserve, when we do, we wipe our mouths and move on, let it be lessons learnt to the idiots who've got us into this mess. If Dorsett is accurate and it is 9 points, I would certainly see that as a win, but I don't think it will be the end of it, I think behind closed doors we expect a transfer embargo too, which is why we are seeing a lot of the kids in pre-season. -
To me I agree it just seems as if KP are of the mindset about other clubs and their conduct 'if we cant beat them, join them' which is a poor mindset to have. It just really sets a worrying tone for what is to come. None of us really know what the financial situation in the club is really, but when your owner is worth £3.5 billion it odes make you wonder what's going on.

So many bang on points in this thread, the buck stops with him as the owner, but I do have some thoughts When Vichai bought the club Top was 24, he was young, perhaps didn't know a great deal and it strikes me that he never had any intention of taking over from his dad, so he just went with the flow and waited to see what was going to come of it - for all we know, Vichai probably wasn't sure what was going to come of the club and how long he would be here for. We also don't know what Top's football knowledge was/is like in terms of players and the game itself. With his dad gone, he had nobody to guide him, so he has had to go with the people his father trusted, which I feel is where it all went south and he hasn't got the heart now to be cut throat because he's too naïve. I feel a lot of the issues stem from recruitment, we can argue the internal running of the club is a lot to blame and I'm not disagreeing, but the football pitch is a separate entity and if you bring in the right players and the right blend for a manage, it breeds success. Since COVID are high spend on players has been something of a disaster, Youri - £45m Ayoze £30m Castagne- £17.8m Vestergaard - 17.6m Fofana £33m Daka £25m Soumare £20m VK, Faes Souttar - £45m Skipp - £22m Bilal - £20m Total - £275m (approx) For a further kick in the nuts, the ridiculously high wages on players like Bertrand, Ayew, Coady, BDCR and the fact we covered a high % of Edouard's salary from Palace last season. We missed out signing Lookman permanently, we didn't have the funds to sign Madueke from PSV when we had the chance to for a fairly reasonable price and then only being able to bring in a back up full back in Woyo in January after promising Ruud finances to add to the squad. RVN wasn't capable of keeping us up, but at least if he got his own players in, we may have stood a bit of a chance. In terms of the previous blueprint, we bring a player in, make a massive mark-up and register the profit into good areas, this has gone totally out of the window and nobody seems to know why. Two out of the four highest transfers walked away for sod all, while Chelsea must owe us a bucket load cos they can't get Fofana fit! The only real profit we have made in the last 5 years was on the sales of Barnes and Dewsbury-Hall. Does anyone know if we got compensation for Trey Nyoni when he went to Liverpool? I heard it was something like £10m? I just think Top is out of his depth, been badly advised, by people who are looking at the football club as a business - The same reason Man Utd are in the mud!

Could well be some legs in Vards to Newcastle, Wilson leaving, they'll need someone as back up to Isak as cant see them just settling for Osula whos unproven at PL level. And the iconic no.9 is now vacant there unless they hand it to Isak

If you became the new manager ,would you?
SB87_LCFC replied to demon_dog's topic in Leicester City Forum
For any of us who have ever played football manager, the current challenge the club faces would be one hell of a quest! For me; - Request a meeting with the board and insist on P45's for Whelan and Rudkin (not without making sure a set of fans are down the road ready to give him a kicking) - Appoint Ricky P Captain - Tie Andy King down as no.2 and bring in Chris Powell as First team coach, put Robert Huth in as DOF and bring Sharky and Wes in to support on player recruitment and scouting. - Get overview from AK on dynamic and player attitude, anyone who is lazy or late for training, messing about on social media et al, fine, fine again and eventually get rid. - Ship out Faes, Kristiansen, Soumare, Skipp, Ayew, BDCR and Daka - Inter-squad 11 a side, to see who's up for it or who's there for the reddies. BRING BACK VARDY! -
Some English fella just been turned down by Genoa.....might be worth a look
-
Again seems like they don't have the faintest idea what they are doing. We need a full shake up of things, re-install some identity to the club, integrate those who actually know the club and have desire to make an impact on it. If Top can't be bothered or is being wrongly advised something HAS to happen! Kingy is here in a coaching capacity, you have Huth who has a university degree in Sports Directorship, we let Morgan join Forest as a National Scout, why cant he be part of our set up?

Be interesting to know what wages he is on, if that may prove a stumbling block to move him on? Should never have got him in the first place, when Fofana went we already had Soyuncu, the alleged fall out with Rodgers well and truly done us. -
Ruud Van Nistelrooy - Sacked - Official
SB87_LCFC replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
Timing is questionable, he should of really been moved on at the end of the season so things could get moving ahead of next week. I would echo some of comments I have read that the buck doesn't just stop with Ruud and he has been treated horrifically by the board, false promises, left him to fend for himself, what did they expect? Him to get a kit on and keep us up? I said on another post, the Enzo promotion party was only to paper over the cracks that were clearly visible from the season before. High transfer fees, wages and possibly agent fees for mediocre players, no focus on a clear direction post Vardy or even a plan B when we had him - Daka from memory had one good game for us in Europe and Tom Cannon was bought and sold faster than he could get to 5 goals for us. The recruitment of 33 year old Jordan Ayew, Bobby Reid and Odsonne Edouard on higher salaries just shows how bad things have got. Think the writing is on the wall for Top to sell up, reading the KP situation with their new chief exec coming in as well raises alarm bells. As for the manager situation, not overly sure Rohl is the right way to go, I think we need someone with experience and the ability to balance the books and the dynamic in the squad at the same time. Dyche for me, despite Percy's comments in his article, Wilder up until last season had the ability to get Sheff Utd over the line, could he do it here? Either way whoever comes in has a mammoth job on and for me it has to be someone with experience and authority. -
Bilal El Khannouss (Stuttgart loan, official)
SB87_LCFC replied to lcfc_forever's topic in Transfer Talk
I think a season in the championship could have a positive effect on his career, at just 21, he's got time on his side, but echo what some others have said if we are in THAT bad a situation where we need to sell and he is happy to try his hand there, then it is what it is and its another ship that has sadly sailed. I don't think anyone's performances last season justify a huge price tag, but for some context it was a slow start here for Bilal, Cooper seemed to favor Buonanotte, then when RVN came in he was given more of a chance to play, not sure if the comments that he wanted him at PSV were true, or he is an avid FM player. He didn't play a full 90 until we played Man City in December - by this point, the damage was more than done from a team perspective. We saw flashes of quality, also saw a bit of grit, not scared to put tackles in or take a booking - not something we would see a lot of from our previous no.10 - he'd sooner push back his hair and pout if someone else took a free-kick. -
I guess its the market now though isn't it, considering we have Soumare as one of our highest paid players speaks volumes!
-
Have nothing against Ricardo but cant disagree here

Stephy Mavididi (no real rumour, some clubs "interested.")
SB87_LCFC replied to Tuna's topic in Transfer Talk
Would rather he stays, but if we are in the proverbial shi* then perhaps we need to take in as much as we can for players who can generate decent revenue. echo some of the other comments about that we would need to have a contingency plan that Monga et al will feature more regularly. -
Would happily see his high wages off the bill....bye!

Crazy to think a fair few years ago Wilf was courted by some of Europe's top clubs and we were all talking him up and now we do the opposite.....how can we be so fickle! He has been plagued by injuries, but I think it's wrong we criticize a guy who has played over 300 games for us and has been one of our better players over the last 10 years, I think we need to show the guy a bit more respect. By any stretch of the imagination was anyone good enough last season, but this a guy who Leicester fans have openly regarded as 'one of the best in the world in his position' not so long ago. Nobody was good last season, but the vibe at the club was wrong and that was still there from when we were relegated 22-23 - Enzo's appointment and that title winning season just papered over the cracks.
-
Think it goes without saying we need a massive shake up from the current crop - it isn't ideal nobody seems to know what the situation with the manager is either Looking at some of the free agents Nathan Ferguson has just been released from Palace, if we can get him fit he can play anywhere across the back line. Kyle Walker-Peters was linked in January and hasn't signed a new deal with Southampton Neal Maupay was talked about before and I know some were dead against, but can we be that picky given our current forwards consist of Daka and Ayew? PSR stuff aside if we had money I would be looking at Hayden Hackney from Boro or Jack Rudoni from Cov as an option in midfield, Rudoni scored 10 goals and got 12 assists so not bad numbers and Hackney has featured for Englands u21s a fair bit. Josh Sargent might be a bridge too far but I have always rated him at Championship level. As a curve ball, would anyone go for Paul Mullin? Unhappy at Wrexham, they have just signed Ryan Hardie and I think he would be the type of player Leicester fans could warm to.
