Marti Cifuentes appointed new manager
Claudio Fannieri replied to Tuna's topic in Leicester City Forum
Way too early to be calling out the manager reminds me of the early days under O’Neill where we were looking patchy and far from convincing then after 12 or so games it started to click and the rest is history. Give him some time he is making mistakes but I think long term if given time we will progress under him. -

What did Soumare do wrong tonight, he was very good arguably our best player. Mavididi was good first half, Fatawu had one of those games where his decision making was all over the place and as good as Riccy P has been he was poor tonight, Faes was criminal for the goal. But most will focus on players like Mav, Soumare etc as it suits a narrative. oh and Carranza offered even less than Ayew. -

I have been really impressed by him so far this season but have to say half time and 2nd half in game management was as bad as I have seen so far this season. We looked a bit desperate and disjointed 2nd half after a decent first half. Taking JJ off was a big mistake in my eyes hopefully it isn’t an injury. However I am a million miles away from doubting him or calling for his head. Long long way to go. -
He pressed the ball, it was a brilliant touch by the striker round the corner …… Faes could have engaged him and hoofed him into the middle of next week or he clips have fouled him and took the yellow, instead he went to ground and didn’t even engage a tackle it as like a 6 year old frightened of getting hurt.

We have played some cracking stuff so far and only for a Faes brain fart we have been head and shoulders above West Brom who now have something to defend. This is the most fluid we have looked all season.
-
That was disgraceful from Faes

This is our 7th league game of the season there is 39 to go after tonight, not sure we have ruined any chance of Nelson or any of the other young upcoming academy players developing into starters ready for the next couple of years. Remember this isn’t just about talent, it’s physicality, in game intelligence, mentality all things we don’t necessarily see as fans, as we are not party to seeing training or the sports science stats and data. think some need to calm down a bit as there are some serious over reactions given that 16 year old Monga and 17 year old Page have both started already this season. -
I think some of the comments about red flags regards Marti are a bit over the top to be honest. Yes I get some people are frustrated that certain players are still in the team and others aren’t in the squad, however we are not seeing these players in training. Just my thoughts, Soumare is only still in the team because of Ramsey’s red card. Page as promising as he is, isn’t ready to be a starter in the championship, he is very lightweight and needs to develop, he is 17 years old, it would be crazy to start him in a game like this away from home. Nelson is in competition with Vestergaard and whilst has a higher ceiling, Jannick is in possession of the shirt and has had a very good start to the season. As for Ayew, I think Carranza isn’t ready for 90 minutes yet, and Daka is muck. Monga is better suited off the bench for now.

I don’t have an issue with Mavididi starting as I think it suits for Monga to come on later in the game against tired defences, with Soumare it’s frustrating but I also understand why he is keeping it the same as last week as we look really solid out of possession. I have a feeling Mavididi will fire tonight and Ayew will have a decent game. -
Agreed I think Carranza is being eased in plus Marti and backroom team see the players day in day out and maybe they are just not ready to start yet. Personally I would love to see Carranza leading the line and JJ playing alongside Winks. But I don’t see the players every day, whatever team he selects I will back him and hope we push on and get the result.

Reminds me a lot of Vardy in that respect, once he gets a goal or assist he will be flying again. What we have to accept with Stephy is he goes through these runs of 5/6 games without making a telling contribution and unfortunately when he is on this type of run in general his performance is well below what he is capable of. Vardy went through similar runs of form and when he wasn’t scoring or assisting he could largely be anonymous but as soon as he got a goal he would usually go on a decent run. Whilst very different players in this aspect they are very similar.

Agreed, Faes can absolutely throw in the odd brain fart or 10 a season but his ability on the ball and to carry the ball makes us so much more dangerous in possession especially when teams sit off us. The trouble with Faes is he has been so vocal about getting out of the club it has damaged his relationship with the fanbase and that is always going to be a difficult thing to repair. Hopefully Marti has been able to have a similar influence on Faes has he has with Winks and both players will be fully reintegrated in to the starting XI and both will be fully committed as we are such a better team at this level with both of these players in our starting XI. -

I agree for all the frustrations thrown at Ayew, Daka has shown he is not the answer, in the games he has played some part in he has still looked so woefully out of his depth even at Championship level. Other than the fact he can run around a lot he offers absolutely nothing and Ayew is head and shoulders above Daka in overall ability and what he offers the team. -

Looked really good however as others have said he will be better when played deeper alongside Winks with Carranza up top and Ayew dropping a bit deeper until Ramsey returns. -
Jordan Ayew - NEVER PLAYING FOR LEICESTER AGAIN!!!
Claudio Fannieri replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
I was fuming when we signed him, thought it was a terrible move. However this season I have really warmed to him, he works tirelessly for the team, his hold up play and ability to protect the ball, link up play and win free kicks to alleviate pressure is excellent. I also think he is an excellent professional and definitely a calming assured character to help younger players such as Page and Monga. He has been a victim of us not having a decent enough 1st choice striker and is reluctantly having to play there, and please don’t say Daka because the truth is, Ayew is a better more solid selection than Daka ever will be. I think Carranza’s cameo yesterday and hopefully the last 2 weeks of acclimatising to his new surroundings will now give Marti the option to play him up top and drop Ayew deeper into the shadow striker /attacking midfielder role where I think he will excel. -
As a goalkeeper the mistakes will always be magnified but overall he is a very good keeper, his distribution improved massively yesterday and his shot stopping is usually top drawer whilst his commanding of his area at set pieces is excellent. His only area of weakness would seem to be low shots down to his right had side and where he parries them.

Looks a decent addition, really good movement and linked up play really well. Think he will do well here. -

Not sure he should too be honest, he is a 16 year old who is an immense talent but it’s a massive ask and expectation to put him as a starter this early in his career with the pressure of being one of our main men. I think these 30 minutes cameo’s against tiring legs are the perfect way to grow his confidence and develop him, however fully expect to see him having more and more of an influence and game time as the season progresses. -
Couldn’t agree more first 30 minutes thought he was bang average at very best however especially in the 2nd half I thought he was good, moved the ball quicker and was more positive and dynamic in possession. I think the damage has been done with him, like Skipp, where even when they do well they will be slaughtered.

Have a look at Southampton and Ipswich both having pretty horrific starts in comparison to us who are arguably had the hardest summer in terms of moving players on and being severely restricted in who we could bring in and also the backdrop of a number of players who are still here wanting out, Marti is doing a very decent job in making us competitive and also creating a decent atmosphere within the squad. we look solid in defence and hard working, whilst the patterns of play and attacking intent is improving week on week. it’s not perfect but we are moving forward positively. -

Not sure what your point is, where do you think a respectable position would be after 6 games with 9 point deduction that we haven’t yet received or has been reported as being that high. -

The over reaction on here you would think we have just been turned over 3-0 at hone to our local rivals rather than been the better team in a 0-0 draw where we missed 2 or 3 great chances to win the game. Madness.
