  1. Lovely conversation. No need to ask them any questions, just set them off. I remember as a teenager LCFC sometimes used to train down at George Street preseason. Shilton would go up to the top pitch after the main session had finished and let us give him some shooting practice including pens. We didn’t put many past him.
  2. Big risk playing Ricardo but got away with it.
  3. Whoever decided to play the 0-9 before the game needs to apologise to us & Soton. Disgraceful show of disrespect & may have made a difference to some of their players.
  4. What a ball from JV.
  5. Given the subtext of the article he should stick to Mumsnet in future.
  6. Anatomically the shoulder is part of the arm.
  7. Just re-read the match thread from 06.02.2016 (page 330 if you’re interested) in preparation for a tumultuous day. COYB
  8. This is a gamechanger. Where is the CL final being played in 2021?
  9. What happened to the Bunnymen? I love this forum.
  10. You only find out how good a team (or individual) is when they are under pressure. The 15/16 side demonstrated just how to see out a title challenge unlike many notable teams before them. If the current team finish in the CL slots & we keep the team then buckle up - there is one final chapter in this great story left to be written. It ends with the CL final 2021.
  11. I'm 62 later this month and it's a 200 mile round trip to the KP for me. I have only once left a football ground early when as a kid I was dragged out of Filbert Street by my Uncle George five minutes before time in order to escape the rush. Imagine my despair as barely fifty yards from the ground the roar when up signalling without any doubt we had scored the winner. Never again. We all know how many goals are scored in the dying minutes of a game. There must have been plenty of fans who missed Ulloa's 'earthquake' goal against Norwich in 2016. I hear all the reasons and arguments for leaving early. It really isn't a case of good supporters/bad fans. However, despite my earlier post regarding the impossibility of understanding human behaviour I would like someone to explain to me why 'beating the traffic' is better than the unqualified joy of seeing your team score the winner with seconds to go.
  12. I think one of the reasons why there are so many threads on this topic is the OPs are desperately trying to understand why fellow human beings do not think or behave in the same way as they do. Having spent most of my working life trying to comprehend human behaviour the only conclusion I've reached is that you can't. Even if you ask folk why they've behaved in a certain way some will lie, others will obfuscate and a fair proportion will have no idea why they've done something. EE did a survey in 2016, small sample size of 2000 and found fans leave an average of 7 minutes & 37 seconds before the final whistle equivalent to one and a half games missed each season. 40% gave the reason 'to avoid queues'. So even improving transport infrastructure will not help 60% of the time if the respondents are to be believed. It isn't just us, it isn't just football and it isn't just an English phenomenon. Neither is it new. As for those who come to the game and spend all the time on their 'phones ...
  13. 11-0 ... and Watford thought they’d had a bad result at the weekend.
  14. But, at this of all clubs, it is difficult to put a limit on what can be accomplished.
  15. I spent most of my working life trying to understand human behaviour. Impossible. Folk do what they do. Sometimes they do the exact opposite of what any sane person would do. Some, of course, are insane! A fair proportion, when asked, don't even know why they've done what they've done!
  16. I was at that game. First glimpse of what was to come over the next fifteen months. Our performance that day was unlike anything I’d ever witnessed from a Leicester side.
  17. Think John Percy has a great future as a royal correspondent.
  18. Fanks. Is he new?
  19. No. Un giorno all’improvisso has been completely bastardised by the scousers. The original L’Aquila version is better but the Napoli version is simply a beautiful, haunting song. I’d like to hear Bocelli sing it one day.
  20. News just in. Appeal going ahead. Messrs. Hunter, Harris & Keane are on the panel apparently.
  21. Can someone tell me how JV was supposed to stop his leg following through after winning the ball?
  22. Glass Half Full perhaps? Steve, were you down the Town the day John Charles scored for Merthyr?
  23. Page 159. So what is setting City apart .... this isn't luck. It's a team packed with talented footballers who are playing like they're fans. Nailed it. This was the difference.
