If you drop down but are on a sound financial footing, you can probably just carry a squad which is too good for the division and hop back up as a mid-table Champ team. We are not in that position. Fire sale will get rid of bad characters but will also starve us of quality. I'm expecting us to finish somewhere between mid-table and playoffs.

I think we'll finally see the player exodus we've needed for a while. Players will be willing to drop wages to avoid playing in league 1 and we'll be forced into selling players below previous unrealistic values. There's no floor to where we can drop if the higher ups keep their blinkers on but I think it's extremely unlikely we drop again (admittedly the same was true 12 months ago).

No, he should have been sacked sooner. I really worry about how a Cifuentes team would have handled the deduction. Think form would have plummeted under him too. On the managerial side we've made the same mistakes we made in 23: hung on to a manager for too long, left a caretaker in charge for vital games, got in a poor manager with no skin in the game beyond a limited number of games. Glad that internal review meant we learnt from all of our mistakes.

I wouldn't mind the happy clappers half as much if they actually did generate a decent atmosphere at home games.
