1 We sign a class right back in January. 2 We avoid any further injuries, and Mads/Winks/N'Didi and even Soumare are available for the rest of the season. Hang on though, are we about to lose Daka/NDidi/Soumare with that tournament thing.....? 3 RvN will have seen where we are weak, and hopefully can address issues. One more thing. Some posters keep trumpeting our promising young players like Alves, Golding and Cartwright... maybe they can make a difference? It doesn't change the fact we are one of favourites to go down. RvN will certainly earn his money if he keeps us up.

I think this is why Hamza's in there. They may switch if JJ can't cope.

Maybe they've got that transporter thing working from Enterprise/?

having a coffee in an expensive chain bar. The coffee is rarely better than elsewhere, and the prices are horrendous, but it gets me out of the house and able to relax, take in the scenery (not talking shrubbery) If lucky there'll be some decent music playing, particularly in Joe&theJuice.

A nice cider in the Thornbury Castle here in London today. Although a lot busier than it normally is daytime, still able to find somewhere to sit - in fact it's top of the list for anyone in the Marylebone/Baker Street area wanting a civilised place to drink with a good chance of a seat. Other places in the neighbourhood get over-full most evenings, but because the Thornbury is down a side street it usually escapes being crowded....I said usually, but sometimes the Friday band can bring in the crowds.

Interesting theory. When astronauts take a year long journey to Mars, will they adapt to sleeping most days? I should change that, they won't have "days" out in space.

Yikes. Balls of steel.

Summer months I tend to wake up 5.30 or 6am. Not because I need to be up, just my body decides it needs to get up. Winter time it tends to be closer to 7am. Strangely I can get myself to take a nap in the afternoon, but it's very rare I can keep sleeping in the morning. Anyone else find they wake up early even when they don't need to?

I think they must be trying out different ways of annoying customers. An item I ordered had 5 different days of potential delivery. The first day we were promised a delivery before 9pm! Somehow we made sure someone was around all day, and with the password code they specified was now essential. Of course they didn't show up. The second day they didn't show but claimed to have tried around 11am. The third day I was out, but my wife was in. The delivery guy actually got as far as the door with the item, but refused to hand it over. Apparently the password code had been changed. We then had another failed attempt (fair does, on that day we were both out). Eventually, and with yet another password code, the delivery driver arrived and handed over the item.

From a selfish pov, I'm not so bothered about numbers of just eat delivery drivers, but I am concerned about hospital staff, care workers etc. I don't mind if more Brits can be encouraged to do those jobs (and perhaps persuaded from jumping to better paid jobs in Saudi or Oz), but equally I'm fine with migrants coming here to do those jobs, whether they be from India, Sudan or Italy. But one thing is 100% certain - the likes of Farage/Tice/Anderson/Jenrick who are promoting the anti-migrant hatred will never help in such jobs - they are too busy feathering their own nest.

Don't be so glum. We'll probably have destroyed the planet before then.

Things You Wish You'd Never Have To See Or Hear Again

I try to avoid any groups that consist of over three of the same demographic. Doesn't matter if it's young footie fans, middle-aged women or young girls. Once you get over three of the same ilk, their mob mentality takes over and they become unbearable. -
It'll probably depend on how badly local transport has been affected. If its an area where you're getting trees blown down and obstructing or crushing cars, then the police may force a postponement, whether it's yellow warning or not.

Ridiculous prediction. We've got quite a good record of grabbing a consolation goal. 1-3

Just finished Unruly by David Mitchell. An enjoyable and informative read, that really made me re-think the legitimacy of the Royals in this country. I had thought that bar the "War of the Roses" and perhaps the Anarchy, that the various rulers were fairly secure in power and that power passed smoothly through the generations. It appears not, and there were often pretenders to the throne, and various Dukes and foreign princes vying for power. Obviously not a book for the serious historian (which I'm not) but it's given me a better grasp of the history of English rulers, from Viking times up to Elizabeth I. The type of book that Bill Bryson could have written (I mean that as a compliment). And it includes Lady Jane Grey as well as the Princes in the Tower. Plus Robert Dudley, so plenty of Leicester links.

We should move Christmas Day celebrations to January 6 (like some European countries). That way another two weeks of dark winter will be over and we'd be closer to brighter Spring days after Christmas.

Talking about the US political system, it always seems strange they have such a long transitional period after electing the President. You could understand a couple of weeks to show the new administration the ropes... Here in Blighty the new PM can be in Downing Street within a couple of days. Weird.

Not sure that Coady in is quite the victory we're hoping for.
