I think I'm in acceptance mode now. Yes the high spots were good while it lasted, and it was a great feeling beating big clubs like Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea. All memories now and we have to adapt to a different level.

The secret behind Wetherspoons' ability to charge low prices, is they try and keep busy for long hours. They're often open from 8.30am to midnight, and although mornings aren't quite as busy as peak time, they're earning all the time. Other establishments will only be busy for a few hours and have to earn enough (to pay the rent/rates/heating etc) in those short hours. Of course Spoons also use their purchasing power to try and keep costs down, but those extra hours contribute to paying the bills and thus making a profit at the end of the day. I think T.Martin is a total chump as regards his political views, but in terms of running a business he's succeeded in a sector where many have fallen by the wayside.

I'm always a little surprised that people like to have takeaways delivered. Nah, too much risk of buying close to a peak. Better to drip feed monthly purchases, then you buy more units when price is low (and vice versa). Do it via an iSA and get tax benefits! Agree with fresh air and exercise. Plus learn new recipes to cook at home.
