  1. IIRC they've won nothing since the 80s Clough years. We'd probably be insecure if we'd won nothing for 40 odd years.
  2. If Trump does seize Greenland, what's to stop him doing the same to another strategically-important island - Gibraltar? And if anyone tells him there may be oil in the Falklands...
  3. I'm staggered at how successful the extraction of Maduro was carried out. He was protected by massive security - although some are claiming there was inside collusion.
  4. Awesome stuff (if for all the wrong reasons). For some reason I'm reminded of when Germany sent its special forces to recapture Mussolini after his fall from power.
  5. See also the attacks to take out the Venezuelan regime. But it' not just a case of simple corruption, which is bad enough. The right-wing US people pushing this are hoping to re-establish the US as sole world power, by taking out two key allies of China and Russia - Iran and Venezuela. This month will show us what the future will look like, and it could be horrific.
  6. Starting to see some quite disturbing allegations about a certain Prince. There must have been crimes aplenty over the last decades/centuries by folk in power. Mind you we were warned about all this by Mr Icke.
  7. best wishes to all. Be kind to one another, modern life can be stressful. And don't overdo things!
  8. On my drive to/from work there are a few miles with single lane (most is dual carriageway or motorway). I generally go a mile or two over the speed limit, so I’m not blocking traffic behind me. However if I get a narky driver up close behind, I make sure to switch to a couple of miles below the speed limit. Returns the favour…
  9. Heh, I've started getting youngsters giving up their seat for me on the Tube - I often retort with "I may look old, thanks, but I'm still a teenager inside me" Mind you it's over 6 months since I got the tube.. Exercise? I try and do plenty of walking. But running or 5-a-side football are no longer realistic thanks to various leg issues. Diet? I try and eat one healthy cooked meal a day (generally meat + 2 veg, sometimes soup/stew). My appetite went down for some months after I had a bout of covid, but I'm eating more now. A weakness for unhealthy stuff like chocolate and lattes, but nevermind. Drink? Yes please, but my appetite/tolerance is very low. Extremely rare to have more than 2 drinks a day, and I'm dry several days in the week. I have a very early start and doubt I could make it if I drank the night before. Things that have changed over the years - earlier bedtime and a need to get 7 hours minimum. I don't buy music anymore, but I understand young folk don't either. Not so keen on meet-ups or parties - prefer the local old man's pub, or perhaps have a couple of friends around for cheese and wine. Oh, wine/port are staple drinks, never used to be. Rarely bother with television, although when wifey wants to watch a film or series on netflix or IPlayer I'll see some of it. biggest change is I realise that I've wasted big chances in life, and not always appreciated what I had. I can't change the past, but where possible I try and help out those who are struggling and/or need a bit of hope. It's a tough life out there for many, let's spread a bit of goodwill (again if you're in a position to do so).
  10. Russian sub taken out in port by an underwater drone.
  11. My horrible feeling is he's going to be snapped up in the transfer window. No doubt for a big fee that we can't use on bringing in a replacement.
  12. It's very good for remaindered books imported from the US. Does it beat the top Waterstones or Foyles? Not sure, but certainly the best value
  13. Like the way Zelensky visits a place Putin claimed had been seized. Real courage, if a little foolhardy.
  14. He got caught staying out late, so now he's been grounded/
  15. I suppose the cost has been a deterrent, but a few decent tram lines into the city would really enhance life for everyone.
  16. I can read a map you know! And isn't modern music rubbish...? Etc.
  17. Maybe a connected point, but it seems obvious (?) that the big gains are to be made from US stocks as opposed to vanilla funds mainly invested in the UK. The disadvantage is that corrections can be also bigger, plus currency changes can make things worse. I find most of what Musk spouts off on non-business issues is ignorant garbage eg every village in England is like a Hobbiton under attack. Yet his way of creating new business is awesome. Seriously thinking of getting a piece of Tesla.
  18. This one really had an impact on me. Never mind the Velaquez or Goya classics, this one makes the Prado museum in Madrid a must-visit.
  19. This. I thought Middlesbrough would batter us, but it wasn't so.
  20. A closed one (the only one in the village). Would save me a fortune.
  21. Bournemouth are on the south coast and also in the Premiership. A bit hard to hate retired pensioners though (or maybe not...)
  22. She speaks highly of you though!
  23. I suppose this is a good example of my "clutching at straws"
