  1. Some decent jibes in there. But a club that’s got money? Poorly informed on that point.
  2. Stuart Broad: How I turned my pubs into a £4m business This may be of interest (one of his pubs is in Swithland) and gives hope that pubs can survive into the future.
  3. Sounds like Braybrooke is coming on strong. Not looking good for Alves. It's a tough profession to make it in, even if the rewards can be huge.
  4. no doubt he's had a couple of big lay-off payouts too - more than most of us could earn in several lifetimes. But am I jealous? is the Pope a Catholic?
  5. But you could go out with two bob, drink 6 pints of mild, eat fish and chips and still have enough pennies for the bus home. (Except the last bus was 8 o'clock in those days).
  6. For me, it's try and help others and/or give a little hope wherever you may be. It doesn't matter if you're not in the top 10% or have few skills. Most of us don't. But the feeling and confidence you get from helping others out, will help you feel your life hasn't been such a waste - well it works for me, hope it can work for you.
  7. There are certain times in my life when I lost my bottle. Anna D, a couple of interviews, and a very good but demanding job. For quite some time I blamed/hated myself for losing the plot, and I'm sure it impacted on my health for many years. I just wish I'd been more resilient at those times. As for learning a language or other skills, I've found out all it takes is time and discipline. Having said that, it does get harder as you get older.
  8. yep. I wouldn't put that down as a card offence, but stupid to put it as a possible decision.
  9. but at least we will have a change of left back! Baby steps, baby steps...
  10. You'd like to think players like Ricky and Abdul would feel quite loyal towards Leicester, given they've had their not insignificant wages paid through long periods of injury.
  11. New to all this, heard one or two mentions of eToro - most will probably know what it is, but I didn't. Stumbled across this video (part of series) and it looks very interesting, may be of use to others out there? Of course if people like me are getting interested, could be a sign it's all about to crash..
  12. Without giving away too much detail, water companies already have small teams that are busy in summer and drought periods, checking up on places that may be using large amounts of water that hasn't gone through their metered supply, such as fruit farms and golf courses.
  13. With the money behind them they should try and get someone like Nuno, ie someone who will know how to cope at a higher level if they ever get there.
  14. Can’t argue with his MotM given he got two goals. Personally I’d have gone for Madeuke who was outstanding on that right wing.
  15. Why do so many drivers make a meal of turning left? You can understand to an extent making a right turn (but please take advantage of any extra lane so those behind are not blocked).
  16. Not sure it's wise to go calling people from neighbouring cities "rats". Given the original Roman name for our own settlement.
  17. They know how to get a new boss in quick mind. Even if it isn’t the right appointment…
  18. Great summary, and kind of reflects my opinion of the city (although I've not been often in the last few years). I feel there needs to be some kind of concept walk, like the Bermondsey Beer Mile, that can bring footfall to differing parts of the centre. it doesn't have to involve beer - for example maybe an Asian fusion tapas stretch?
  19. Incident involving hazardous material leak at Terminal 4, Heathrow. Reports of several people falling ill after breathing in toxic fumes
  20. I never got the chance to meet him, but still sad to hear of the passing of Jonathan Main. A LCFC fan who ran a successful bookshop in south London. RIP
  21. Bet you wish your girlfriend was hot like his!
  22. A fine boxer and athlete, but had the misfortune to be around a rich crop of heavyweights when at his peak.
  23. Nothing definite as yet?
  24. Hate to say it but he's exactly the type of annoying goalkeeper that ManUre need.
  25. Much as I loved going down Filbert Street, it added to the impression of little old Leicester, particularly when numbers were capped at around 20k. Of course nowadays the season tickets seem to sell fast, whether we had a good or bad season.
