  1. Learnt on another site, apparently the Civil Service had a nickname for Liz Truss - Daggers. Short for Dagenham, ie two stages beyond Barking.
  2. Wes Streeting is a more extreme version of Starmer. Very clever, very capable, but with huge question marks over certain deals/donations. If Reeves has a good budget, she may be a strong contender. Burnham would be a popular choice, but is he a MP?
  3. Given that employers shy away from even interviewing older applicants with no long-term sick history, can't help feeling this is a red herring.
  4. Confirmed.
  5. If true, gives us half a chance.
  6. Interesting. You expect Cooper to be making such a decision next summer? I actually hope you're right as it means he's turned things around and kept the club up.
  7. Had a quick visit back to Leicester mid-week and have to say I was quite impressed compared to my memories of old. Had a coffee in a lovely place on Cank Street - Chloe Goumet - and although I resisted the cakes due to gluten issues, I thought the place was marvellous. Good to see shops functioning again in the Arcades which is another hidden gem of Leicester. As I was based near Welford Road I popped into the Bricklayers Arms (well it's now called the FoxHut bar). Seemed nice enough but the place was empty, hope that's not always the case. Couple of busier options on Millstone Lane. Plenty of pedestrian zones in what seems to be marketed now as "Old Leicester" but I have to admit to being surprised by cyclists whizzing by in adjacent cycle lanes.
  8. I'm not so sure - they'll probably get Tim Martin to organise it.
  9. Canonbury another option.. Not been in too many Stokey pubs but heard good things about the area. Kentish Town is worth the effort I feel, Tapping the Admiral is a good option as is the Grafton (but a bit pricey/luxurious). Others have raved about the Pineapple but I've not had the pleasure.
  10. Sounds like the best part of town!!! Certainly more options than Humberstone Gate (unless that's improved a lot lately)
  11. Great stuff, thanks. Hoping I find at least one open on Tuesday so I can quaff a cider. Otherwise would have been forced to Spoons High Cross.
  12. May be in Leicester this week. Best pub near Newarke Street? I'm thinking Millstone Lane will be a good start?
  13. The one thread of hope I cling to is that Cooper needs to start showing results, otherwise his career is over - no one will want him at their club if he's failed to get any wins here. So against the evidence I'm hoping he turns things around and starts winning a few games (ok not Arsenal that's asking too much).
  14. Anyone think we can nick this?
  15. The one thing that may keep Cooper here a long time is we have no obvious candidates (who'd want to come here).
  16. Yep, let's see how this team performs before having our habitual meltdown. A bit of a gamble to introduce El Khannouss now, but maybe he's impressed in training. I'd have stuck with Buonanotte and then try El K as a sub if needed.
  17. Years back the tapes in the series Mission Impossible "This message will self-destruct in five seconds"...
  18. Not a bad effort was it?
  19. I agree, they seem capable of scoring goals, but they are as big at bottle jobs as us at the moment. Therefore we will need a team (or bring on subs) that will create goal chances and put the pressure on Everton. I'm not as anti-Cooper as most here, but this game will show us if he's capable of putting out a winning team. If not, we may as well bite the bullet early and start looking for the new boss.
  20. All down to his diet apparently....
  21. Insurance in case we do get relegated and have to sell the good players?
  22. Everton to challenge Leicester for the Bottle Cup.
  23. They won't be outdone by our bottle-job... Concede the two goals already
  24. It's reported that Bounanotte is recovering from a groin strain, so maybe just a case of saving him for games to come?
