Don’t even know what to do after yesterday but something has to change back to 4-3-3 for me. Hope madders and Chilwell are back for this but not convinced given they didn’t even make the bench so if not would go for Fuchs and Choudhury at least he’ll give us some passion and bite. Would also bring Morgan in not convinced by either him or Bennett but feel like we need Morgan’s leadership now. Realise it’s harsh on Iheanacho but not sure how we squeeze him in without going 442 and not sure we have the players to play 3 at the back with all the injuries and suspensions. Barnes - Vardy - Pérez Maddison - Ndidi - Tielemans Chilwell - Evans - Morgan - Justin Kasper
-
I agree think it was the wrong decision from Brendan to bring Nacho off for a midfielder only invited pressure. But the meltdown was all the players doing, they’d still barely mustered a chance until schmeichel hits it 10 yards into Ndidi, we give away the pen and concede. Long ball söyüncü should’ve closed solanke down, schmeichel should’ve saved and söyüncü goes and gets himself sent off. Brendan certainly needs to take some of the blame but was mainly blaming the players for the shambles Of chucking that away
-
Absolute embarrassment, blame the players more than the manager absolutely gifted Bournemouth all of their goals. Players don’t even look like they want it. Never been so disappointed watching us play just chucked champions league away Kasper and Söyüncü disgraceful
-
Way I read that is vardy Kelechi Perez fuchs tillymans wilf albrighton Söyüncü Evans Justin Kasper would’ve preferred it in a 442 but flexible options with that lineup. Let’s go
-
Need a result here. Id go: Vardy Iheanacho Barnes Tielemans Ndidi Pérez Fuchs Söyüncü Evans Justin Schmeichel Not massively opposed to the 3-5-2, but in the end think the majority of the team picks itself with Maddison and Chilwell out only decision is between Bennet or Praet or Barnes/ Gray/ Albrighton. Depending on if we go 3 at the back, or 3 in midfield or 4-4-1-1/ 4-2-3-1 as above. So went for the attacking option as I think we’ll need to break them down and think we’ll be fine with more attaching wingers with more of a flat back four. Hoping we can get an early goal for a change, and then can look to catch them on the counter with Vards and Barnes pace like against Palace.

I felt like we started with a lobsided sort of 3-4-1-2. Perez was certainly playing centrally just off Iheanacho and Vardy. Albrighton often played with JJ just inside him and further back and Chilwell basically had the freedom of the left hand side but with no support. The graphic below shows how lob sided we were with YT often filling in to the LB slot to pick up the ball to encourage Chilwell further on. Diagram almost looks like a 4-3-2-1 with MA quite central but I thought it looked like it was supposed to be a 3-4-1-2 imo. Hence I think it’s unfair that Chilwell has received so many pelters for his performances this year given that he’s received very little support defensively on the left all year ie. Barnes in front of him or Maddison who would usually end up inside anyway. Not a dig at any player just think Chilwell has struggled sometimes this year because of being isolated and from a lack of support. Eg. Had no option but to try to take on the Palace winger and FB or cut inside for support on Saturday.

Just pray that even if it’s overturned it’s still a 1 yr ban, think we need the CL to maintain our squad, the extra dosh and to attract the next level of players we need as well as the prestige and the European tour -

Thought the same at the time re. Should’ve been Vards off not Kel, but in hindsight given that we were 1-0, made more sense to keep on Vardy for a potential counter attack with his pace, which worked wonders with his 2 goals and hopefully now added confidence. Also keeps Kelechi fresh for Tuesday -

Pure relief. Am I the only one who thought we were playing 3-5-2 from the off tho? -
Agree would be tempted to play Dimi but not sure about Zaha up against Dimi and JJ on that side.
-
Nacho has to start imo and given all of our wingers seem out of form gone for a 3-4-1-2. Not sure about JV starting but think if AP partnered KI they’d both be dropping deep to link up play getting in eachothers and JM’s space, need someone to stretch the defence. JV - KI JM BC - YT - WN - MA CS - JE - JJ KS Just need a proper shithouse win to get our season going again.

Anyone got any ideas on what the likely outcome of Man City’s appeal is? Looking increasingly important for us and Champions league next year. 3 of us, Chelsea, Wolves and Man U given our starting position and we’re still in with a decent chance. 2 of the above and I’m a little less confident.
-
Absolutely desperate for a win. Trying to convince myself that: - We are 3rd. - 3 points clear of 5th. - With the best goal difference. - And only 6 games to go. We can still do this. As desperate as we’ve been recently I still believe it can’t last forever and we will manage a couple more wins and maybe a couple of draws to hopefully get us over the line. And as good as Man U and Wolves have looked I don’t believe they’ll be able to keep it up and win all of their remaining games, they will surely slip up at some point right? Just don’t want to take it to the last game vs Man U not sure my underwear could take the strain. COYF

Agree with some of the other posts on this thread. Think Nacho has done pretty decent when he’s played for us this season and imo is capable of leading the line for us, in a similar mould to Firmino being able to drop slightly deeper and link up play (dare I say it could even be a better suit for our system going forward than JV). Would just need more elite level wingers/ attackers alongside him, which we should hopefully targeting in the summer anyway
-
Think we need to try something different just not sure what that is.. Not sure about 3 at the back or a diamond With Maddison likely out I’d be tempted to go with a 4-2-3-1, and a front 6 of: Ndidi - Tielemans Gray - Perez - Barnes Vardy or give Vards a rest and keep to the 4-3-3/ 4-1-4-1 think Iheanacho provides better link up. Praet - Ndidi - Tielemans Perez - Iheanacho - Barnes
-
Wondering if it’s a diamond like BR used in his Lpool days. Vardy - Nacho = Suarez - Sturridge with Gray/ Sterling with license to roam behind and then a midfield 3 of Maddison a bit deeper similar role to Coutinho. And then Ndidi and Mendy holding in a 4-3-1-2 formation. Saying that could be anything 4-2-2-2/ 4-2-3-1 with Nacho wide or Maddison wide who knows.. .. Who cares COYF

How frustrating is Dimi every time I start to write him off he puts in a decent cameo and I begin to think what if he could manage this on a regular basis
-
On balance thought we probably looked the better side but they probably had the better chances with Kasper keeping us in it with a couple of vital 1 on 1 saves earlier on. Think we just lacked a bit of creativity and incision in the final third, especially from out wide with vardy looking pretty isolated. Would go with Gray over Albrighton for the Brighton game after his cameo. But overall we didn’t look bad just think we lacked a bit of cutting edge hence the need for a top quality, next level sort of right winger in the summer imo.

Good article, highlights how balanced our side actually is. So much more balanced than the 15/16 season relying pretty much solely on Vardy and Mahrez. Our goal contributions in all comps this season is pretty even across all our attacking players. Vardy - 25 Perez - 12 Barnes - 14 Maddison - 12 Tielemans - 12 Iheanacho - 12 Even the likes of Ricardo, Chilwell and Ndidi have chipped in with a few. And best of all most of those are under 23!!
-
Obvs depends what happens with the remainder of the season but I’d go with the below. IN: CB - Malang Sarr on a free. £0 (Alternatively would take Demiral or Aké if he can be got for a decent price eg. If Bournemouth go down. £20-30mil.) LB - Bertrand (as back up if Fuchs leaves) £5-7 mil CM - Lallana £0 RW - Neres, or Bailey £30-40mil. Out: Slimani/ Amartey/ Silva/ Gray for c. £25mil Net Spend: approx. £40mil. With Fuchs and Mendy possibly to leave at end of contracts. And loan out the likes of Benkovic, Knight, KDH, Luke Thomas etc to Championship clubs. Mix of relatively cheap experience and youth. Thoughts?

Any ideas what the score/s and teams were @Bert?
