  1. Nick Cave being there seems a bit random. Never had him down as a royalist.
  2. My stepdad has had MS for over 20 years. Not sure what his initial symptoms were but I think he had to have a brain scan to confirm things. This was back in 2001 so can't really remember. He kept on working for quite a few years after the diagnosis but had to give up maybe 7 or 8 years ago as mobility got more difficult. He can barely walk a few metres now so its a wheelchair job to get him about, he also has only partial hearing on one side due to MS. Think there are different severities of MS and has a grading system, he's at the worst stage now unfortunately. NHS have dedicated MS nurses and there is a MS therapy centre close to the KP (Freemans Common) so there is support if you're based in Leicestershire and MS is diagnosed.
  3. Maybe those of us who didn't get it at 3 will get it at 4pm instead, GMT and BST mix up, let's see.
  4. I haven't received it either, bloody useless

    Amazon

I recently worked in a John Lewis warehouse, was very tight security. Everyone had to take their shoes off and pass through an X ray scanner everytime they left the warehouse area, random locker checks as well. I assume this Amazon scam is in the van though and not done at the warehouse.

  8. Big Nige at 14/1...
  9. Harringworth Viaduct (aka Welland Viaduct), longest brick viaduct in the UK at over 1.1km long with 82 arches. Carries the railway line between Corby and Oakham.
  10. You'll pass through lots of villages on the route. How many still have a pub these days I don't know. Best map I found to plan it was this... https://ldwa.org.uk/ldp/members/show_path.php?path_name=Leicestershire+Round
  11. I did the round in 2021. Highly recommended and a good way of seeing the county. Its a 100 mile circuit and I did it over 9 legs I think. Fairly easy to get to your start and end points by a bus route to Leicester if you haven't got a lift. Its signposted well and goes to a variety of places... lots of farmland so best to do when the ground is dried out a bit.
  12. Often get Typhoons out of RAF Coningsby flying over Melton and it definitely sounded like them when the sonic boom happened. The plane with the radio failure is being escorted to Stansted now
  13. It made my house rumble in Melton when it happened. That's probably what caused it to be picked up by seismic monitoring.
  14. I did the Leicestershire round over 9 stages in 2021. Did the same as you and planned a route using the buses, I live in Melton though so often had to take 2 buses out to the start point and 2 back home. Living in Melton made the Rutland and eastern part of the walk slightly easier though.
  15. The Arriva app is rubbish, and the information screens in the Haymarket and St Margarets bus stations just show timetable arrival times, not the live times. Total pot luck as to whether the bus turns up or not these days.
  16. Been using Arriva buses around Leicestershire the last few weeks and the amount of buses either not showing up or breaking down mid journey is ridiculous. Think they're having a big recruitment drive at the moment as they are short staffed.
  17. ITV showing the closing ceremony, BBC aren't
  18. Yep, the B52 is being upgraded with new Rolls Royce engines to extend their life by 30 years. That's about 100 years in flying service by 2050.
  19. She is taking part in the WC opening ceremony tomorrow apparently.
  20. The north curve was dug up many years ago and the land sold. Its now an industrial estate. That just leaves the south facing curve from the Burton line onto the midland mainline, as you say any trains from the north has to reverse at Knighton junction to access the Burton line. Freight trains that currently use the line to the quarries near Coalville already do this..
  21. Boris is probably pissing himself watching all this unfold from his Caribbean beach. He earned £150k for a 30 minute speech a few days ago too.
  22. Nearest pubs to Twin Lakes would be in Melton Town centre, or a drive out to local villages like Scalford or Waltham on the Wolds. There's the Round Corner Brewery in the livestock market, not sure what food is like there though.
