  1. His conviction was a sham from the get go. High profile case. Kent police just needed a head on a stick
  2. Dreamland. The CRIL campaigner has said as much. It's the UK doing what the UK always does best. The easiest, cheapest, path-of-least-resistance option. Give 'em a train track to Derby, that'll do.
  3. It's far from an unpopular opinion, it's bang on. Any normal business would relish the opportunity to spread it's customer base. It's future proofing supportr numbers and insures against being overly reliant on the same people year in year out. A business is safer with 1 million customers paying a pound than 1 customer paying a million. But, to me, it's clear that Whelan has taken the (wrong imo) long term view that we need an England Women type support and atmosphere and, in her eyes, become the friendliest , most inclusive club to follow. Nice sentiment. Understandable logic. Wrong conclusion. Wrong execution.
  4. He has this nice move when recieving under pressure facing his own goal where the ordinary move would be to pass back to keeper or a first time square to, say, right back.... both of which the pressers are expecting. Instead he kinda scoops the ball towards his own corner flag and in doing so, buys himself a few yards and a few seconds. Really clever get out of jail trick
  5. Exactly this. Except I was always a fan and put my head on a block (counterbalance to that I'm wrong about many players, Macateer this season especially) Faes is simply light years ahead of this level.
  6. I put that point in my post. Hard up fresh immigration don't tend to spunk their hard earned cash on overpriced cocktails and a kebab
  7. Always liked Evans for us, but he's got a really dislikeable side. When he joined us from West Brom, he didn't appear to give a shite about them either. Got pissed, rammed a taxi, got relegated ...never mind eh, I'll join Leicester.
  8. That's not right is it? England rugby are an usually good tournament team. Regardless of form, England are a complete nightmare to play against, unless it's the final. What is it? 5 finals?
  9. VAR is an abomination. As much as we all take this seriously and billions are involved, it's just a sport, just fun. If billionaires don't want to risk everything on human error or chance, then buy real estate and ignore sport. At the absolute most I'd accept VAR if the ref - and ref alone - asks an assistant if there's any obvious reason to disallow a goal...and unless there is an obvious reason, the infield decision stands
  10. Isn't JJ the one at risk here? Faes, Vesty and Coady might be the three
  11. I'm enjoying watching him play but also annoyed that he's been mismanaged for the two or three years prior. He'd been set up to fail by Rodgers. Asked to perform an appalling fish out of water routine. And then frozen out by the man who'd persuaded him to join then consequently vilified by supporters. Would I have him in the PL? I'm not so sure. But he's waaay overqualified for championship level
  12. The two fellas commentating for Rotherham on the stream I watched repeatedly referred to us as 'premier league side'. I commented on it at the time. They are right. It's absolutely grotesque that we are in this division. But it's a test of sorts and let's enjoy it while here.
  13. Remarkable how young he is. When I lay into a player, i forget half of them are kids
  14. I think he .might be better suited to the Ricardo role than Ricardo. Ricky gets robbed in midfield too often for my liking. Hamza is a more natural fit for midfield when we have possession (ie most of the time) Hamza obvs isn't a right back but he can make the recovery runs far better than Ricardo. I think JJ for Doyle and Hamza for Ricky immensely improves our defensive unit as we the have the pace to recover from turnovers
  15. He played Kane on the wing. After the lad (at the time a lad, had done very well at Millwall up front) .... Pearson was scrambling for a result at the time (did t we go from a comfortable second place to a 12 game streak without a win?) ....it wasn't Pearson's forte dealing with that.
  16. Believe it or not, some of us rated him even then. True I had no idea he'd be turn out to be that good, but the mismanagement of him wasn't Pearson's finest hour.
  17. From what little I know of them, they were garbage last season under Moore. Fluffed automatic promotion and we're largely outplayed in the final against 10 men. Simply a lucky punch got them up. A waste of a promotion space. I actually really really dislike them as a club. They seem to think they are 'big'. I'm getting on a bit and in my time, They been in division 3 and division 2 all through the 70s and 80s (a fairly even split too, wasn't just the odd season in the third) then had 7 or 8 years in the PL during the peak of sky renovating the game and after that brief spell, have since spent all their time in the second and third tier. What a useless club for a city of that size.
  18. Not to me. I rate him.
  19. Classic FT, raving about a player they've never seen (and his signing triggered a ton of disrespectful abuse for Wilf)
  20. Mate, I agree that it needs chasing up. FT are presumably hoping the good starts masks their impotencey. But but, as a few posters have said on this thread, it's time to stop sniping from the side, join it and effect the change. I'm loathe to criticise anyone - FT, parish councillors, Jehovah's Witnesses - who at least have the gumption to put themselves out there.
  21. You kinda defeat your own point. It is true. He scores goals, as you point out. What you mean is he's not a prolific 10 a season man. But not many defensive players are tbh.
  22. I haven't followed the story closely but I'm gonna guess that the development will be financed by investment bonds and those bond vakues are in the peripheral development of retail, residential and leisure. Until that sorted and then buyers found, there ain't no development
  23. Not related to this thread directly, but what a sh2tshow this country is for infrastructure (London apart) HS2 needs to be done properly in full or not at all. Plus, the works should've started north to south, not south to north. Plus it should've lined to the hs1 line at Gravesend and Stratford. As per, we are gonna have a high speed line from central Brum to an anonymous Middlesex suburb. And that's it. And micro projects like the knighton curve can't be paid for because of it.
  24. I think he tried to hard in those last few games for us. Tried to keep us up on his own. The intent was well meaning but part of being a pro is having to do the right things at the right time. Trying to win games by beating four men yourself wasn't that.
  25. First time I'm watching Madders this season. I wanted him to bust a gut to get back to Odegaard in the build up to the goal. He didn't. I wanted him to make an angle for the kulchewski(sp no idea) winger. He didn't. I loved him with us but he's a luxury player in the modern game, int he?
