l love that football phrase, 'show us your medals'. It's all about silverware. Three trophies in that PIC, and another two sat in the stand. Not bad in 22 years, eh? If Claude can now add the holy grail, the FA Cup, we may as well jack it all in.

Good business nowadays is down to the likes of talented administrators like Susan Whelan. That's a compliment, not a dig. I think any prior questions over her role were largely due to her perceived lack of personality and charisma. But those traits are so very 20th century Quiet, diligent, process driven strategic management means we have a very modern 'leader' whose actions speak far louder than her words. She's my kind of chief exec

Ben Chilwell: A possible star in the making
Paninistickers replied to davieG's topic in Leicester City Forum
Totally agree. He's miles and miles the best full back in the country. Few people outside if Leicester know this yet. And this comes from me, who insisted that schlupp was a better option til the start of this season. once his delivery tightens up - and it will - the lad has absolutely everything you could possibly want in a full back. Ashley Cole level. I hesitate only a little when I say this, but if he carries in he's gonna be amongst the best in Europe. -
Pure guesswork, but the tone and wording has Susan Whelan written all over it. Very detail orientated. Ultra respectful of Thai/Buddhist traditions. Sensitive, and a little surprised even, at how the fans have reacted. Was it Henry Winter or Rob Dorset who wrote about her clarity and decision making in the minutes after the crash had been impressive?

Players talking to BBC/Stringer - Its Time!
Paninistickers replied to ozleicester's topic in Leicester City Forum
It's not a club enforced party line though is it? IS appears welcome at press conferences and commentary box and by the manager. I presume it's an independent voluntary boycott by the players. The OP is probably right though. It's time for the players to ,'be the bigger man' and end the boycott. In work and in life sometimes you just have to deal with people you don't like. IS is an amateur broadcaster. A citizen journalist (at best) Lacks intellect. But is clearly a talented chancer who's maxing out his life. Fair play to him in that respect. -
That's what got me thinking. The occasional long haul I've done, I've suffered badly from jet lag whilst away (largely that I'm a creature of habit by nature and actually find being away from Europe slightly unsettling) ....but slept like a log on my return. Early nights all round for the players tonight!
-
Not that this is important, or even interesting, but my brain is wanting to work out the plan to combat jet lag for such a rapid trip. I'm guessing the players were advised to stay on UK time. kipping on the sarurday flight over, bed about 5am local time sunday ' lnight' whilst there ....and then only sleeping during the latter half of the return flight.

It rings a bell to me that Cambiasso didn't wear a poppy. I might be wrong though.

Premier League Thread 2018/19 stuff it in here.

Worrying start to the prem this year. Nobody has been able to lay a glove on the top 5. And if an appallingly ran man utd had even a 10% increase in performance, they'd be unbeaten too. In recent seasons, Palace could be relied upon to floor the big clubs at home. West Ham too at Upton park. Swansea even at the liberty....Spuds and liverpool struggling for at least one match per season every year to us. I think a part if the problem is - us included - we all try to be man city lite....playing out from the back ...Surely decent coaches could/should work out game plans to nullify the big guns? -
I think it'd be a nice touch if a 'football side' representative - Rudkin? Puel? - attended the poor girl's funeral and the chap's too whilst put there. Same goes for the pilot and his girlfriend co-pilot.

Just wanted to echo this. We each are moved in our own ways, but that little clip on motd of Wes delivering to the entire staff a pre match rally did it for me. I'd love to have a still picture of that.

Yes. I always did. So much so, I stayed in the concourse on one occasion. And to think I have to fill out risk assessments at work for the most menial of tasks

This again. Such a dignified family. I feel terrible for them.

Leicester v West Ham- Pre Match Thread
Paninistickers replied to dayday's topic in Leicester City Forum
Exactly this. Upper Mid table teams always churn out a superb performance after 3 or 4 shockers. I fully expect an absolute thumping... -
As always, we all read what we want to read. Reading between the lines, I thought the article was more opinion piece....and a largely supportive one, quoting his vision and ethics. For me, that's two respected journalists (sharpe and percy) now who have both recently stated how pleasant, charming even, Puel is in private. This personable side is, of course, the side the owners, Rudkin, whelan and the players see. If I was to bet, those briefing against him are more likely to be disgruntled players... King, Simpson, rentaquote Albrighton (for the record, I like all three of them ....but it'd be human nature for them to dislike Puel and nitpick at his weaknesses)

Surely the no. 2 is all about dynamic? There's no archetypal no. 2. I watched the man city Amazon doc. Arteta the supposed no. 2 seemed peripheral. Pep had however total trust in his water polo best mate who had nothing to do with tactics at all. Bonnevay's CV and twitter appear a bit underwhelming. Comes across as a senior league style proper football man. Man's man. That said, I was glad to see Puel get rid of Appleton. He came across dreadfully on radio and TV. Plus, he was easily suckered into discussing mahrez's move and the benefit of him playing for a big club. I'dve sacked the cant on the spot for gross misconduct for that Alone

Ben Chilwell: A possible star in the making
Paninistickers replied to davieG's topic in Leicester City Forum
I'm a recent convert. I had a feeling after Lille and Man U he'd 'clicked'....beforehand I was bemused as to what the fuss was about him. The lad oozes class. He owns the whole left side of the field for us. Overlaps and attacks but amazingly pops up in his defensive position moments later. And don't even appear puffed out. The biggest clue to his talent is his ability to tackle without tackling. He hardly ever has to 'put a foot in'. Because he doesn't get in a mess. He shows the winger down the correct blind alleys. It's the epitome of modern day defending. -
I've hardly ever posted on foxestalk, so feel somewhat dirty for chipping in on a thread which indulges my negative, bitter side .....that said! I really dislike the charity three peaks challenge / London to paris bike rides / kilimanjaro ,and other middle aged endurance bollox etc etc. I'd rather the walker / cyclist / climber manned up and just admitted they just fancy the challenge and that the charity element is incidental ( and usually a pre condition to joining an organised tour rather than any specific interest in cancer research) If they really fancy the charity, just quietly and modestly donate £5k on the credit card (a sum most middle aged dudes could afford at a pinch) and don't bother with the facking trek. Unpopular view, I accept.

1970s - Enderby Town vs LCFC Help
Paninistickers replied to bluefox_69's topic in Leicester City Forum
Oh yes, forgot about him. Mark Hallam it was. He went in to be a very decent conference striker for Tamworth. After him.was Keith Scott...who moved on to Stoke at league 1 then championship with them. It was helluva conveyor belt of local football talent for the decade or so before they folded. -

Hopefully the description of 'senior league grizzled semi pro' was taken as a compliment.... It was meant as one! -

You obviously went down there when I did. Saffron Lane only hosted three or four games though as blaby Winchester road wasn't quite ready. Drainage problems persisted and ended up with United having to to play the last 9 games in 13/days. United remarkably won every single game to steal a promotion to the southern premier (level.6)/along with a very strong VS Rugby and Merthyr Tydfil (welsh cup winners and played a couple of uefa cup rounds the following season) The team was mainly made up.of the best senior league grizzled semi pros - - real tough nuts/---....the forward line of Keith dakin, Cohen Griffith and Dave Putnam was championship standard and blew teams away. They three of them.were nigh on unplayable at that level
