This makes no sense

I’ve always, always been someone that likes to stick with managers, and I’ve always felt Rodgers deserved the opportunity to continue at the helm and turn this around. But even for me I think it’s time now. the football is dreadful, the excuses worse, and the good feeling that became synonymous with the club has disappeared. This doesn’t feel like the same football club as 2 years ago. I still believe Rodgers is a top manager but it isn’t working anymore and SOMETHING needs to change quickly. If you can’t beat this dire Saints side at home what’s the point. Thankyou Brendan but it’s time.

Wesley Fofana - He is no more - finished - forgotten.

The issue here, in my opinion, is that even with a £100m bid, it doesn't necessarily allow us to spend that money on the 2/3 players we need. The squad is still too big and the wage budget still stretched so even with a massive fee we probably won't be able to do much business. What we need is multiple, big contract players leaving, not 1 wonderkid. -
Some of the Danny Ward hate here is very strange! Commanded his box well, made a few good saves, and couldn’t have done anything about either of the goals. He was not the issue today!!

I like Soumare but think we should have taken the money and ran here. If we're being honest, we'd have to sell multiple fringe players like Hamza/Amartey to get the funds we could have got from a Soumare deal. Those players are not really wanted by other clubs so I can't see it happening. It's a bit of an embarrassing move given he's only been here a year, but we actually half decent depth at CM, with Praet and Mendy, even more so if we used some money to get a RW which would allow Maddison to be in the mix there too. Given we need funds, I would have liked to see some being accumulated here. Would much rather lose Bouba and potentially gain another CB/RW than the squad stay the way it is.

We need to be brave second half. We can beat these. Come on boys

Think Gallagher scored 2 against Palace one game, both from about 30 yards out.

This was the day after I was born. There's a great family picture knocking about somewhere of my mum holding me at a day old on one arm, and the Mercury in the other, with the headline "Love And Claridge" across the front. Safe to say I was born into supporting the club!

Credit where credit is due tonight. Changed the game and fantastic assist. Well done Ayo.

Lucky lucky lucky at the end there, but we’ve been much better today on the whole.
-
A massive positive today is Maddison. Looks like he’s back to his best. We’ll really need that whilst Youri is out.
-
How can you expect to get anything out a game of football without a progressive ball playing player. A front 3 that all want to run in behind and not a single player that likes to play those balls centrally. Where is Maddison??

this is absolutely elementary stuff. so so easy for Chelsea. We are in big trouble unless something dramatically changes this year.

People have a right to be upset and frustrated by recent performances. I certainly am. Defensively we’ve been awful and some of the decision making from BR has been very strange. But if last year has taught us anything it should be that no matter the attacking prowess, defensive problems can massively affect the whole team and the mentality. Look at Liverpool. People have a right to be frustrated but let’s face it, losing Evans and Fofana has hurt us big time. Brendan can turn this around but realistically it’s going to be difficult whilst those two are out. To those that want him gone, who do you realistically think we can get in that is better?

This is papering over the cracks. -
It’s always a long season. Plenty of time to turn it around. Keep the faith.

Get in! -
Is there actually any credible source saying he’s out long term or are people just getting worked up over nothing? I’ve seen nothing.

Smokescreen for Dan James.

Disappointing that we haven’t secured a marquee RW signing again this year, but if Lookman comes in then it’s an improvement of the options we have at those positions. If Barnes starts having a good year then realistically we only need someone on the other side that’s going to get 10+ G/A involvements, and Lookman is capable of that. He’s not going to set the world alight but he’s still relatively young, BR is a manager that gets the best out of these types of players, and he’ll do better than he did in that Fulham team. I’m as disappointed as everyone that we haven’t gone out and got a Berardi/Madueke type player, but it’s clear the club haven’t got the money for it now, even if that’s come from signing Soumare/others without addressing the clear problem spot. Let’s back the lad and hope he proves some of us wrong. If it’s only a loan then it’s really not the end of the world if it doesn’t go fantastically.

Ah yes forgot about JJ. Definitely concerning but given how well we coped at the front end of last season with countless injuries, personally I still feel confident that we can still play at a high level. This time last year we were all feeling pretty pessimistic about the injury situation and it worked out okay in the end! Of course this year teams are probably stronger, but after two games it’s hard to gauge how consistent West Ham, Villa and the like will be. Going to be a ride for sure...

Are our defensive injuries even that lengthy? Forgive me if I’m wrong here but aren’t we expecting everyone apart from Fofana back after the international break? 2 games is a really small sample size to be making any kind of changes to our expectations, whatever they are. I don’t think you can predict any clubs fortunes at this point!
