  1. I used to watch him at Spurs and think what does this guy actually contribute. Offers nothing offensively and very little defensively - he's just sort of there. He's just a poundshop version of Harry Winks. Then we signed them both! I know people will read this and think, 'yeah, yeah'. But I swear it's true. They both need a stronger, more physical defensive midfielder next to them and don't offer enough offensively to make up for it. We've signed a squad full of players with massive weaknesses. Most recruitment teams then sign players to minimise those weaknesses. Yet, we've signed players who expose those weaknesses even more. The spine of our team is horrendous and why we're in the position we're in. The most frustrating thing is: even though he offers little defensively, it's more than every other midfielder. He's one of the few that will put a shift in and try and do the things he's not very good at. If our defenders are out of position he will at least try to cover for them.
  2. Yeah, you're right. But we all knew Daka and Ayew were limited. I'm not sure how anyone thought we were getting promoted with those 2 up front. Anyone over 6ft who could head the ball I'd have been happy with. I think the fact he was free might have helped people accept it. The fact he cost money I can sort of understand why we didn't. Just anyone over 6ft with physical presence and I'd have been happy.
  3. He did so much running on Tuesday night he might have struggled for energy today. He really did put in a shift on Tuesday night. Looked knackered at the end. Both him and Winks are so frustrating. As soon as you think they've turned a corner and might have a good run of games they have a stinker.
  4. It's mad that the best striker we can give this guy is Daka. Hull signed f***ing Oliver McBurnie for free at the start of the year and he's the third highest scorer in the league with 13 goals.
  5. I mean. Are we not over analysing this a little. Him and his team are out of work and bored so they went to watch his old team for something to do. He's probably just bored. And now he knows boredom at home is more entertaining than watching us play.
  6. For as bats**t crazy and insane as she is. She isn't some cult member that changes her mind with whatever Trump says. She is consistent and a true believer. She genuinely believes in America First. It means leave Ukraine to fight it out, but also means leave Israel to it too. She also genuinely believes in releasing the Epstein Files. But she's still a crazy conspiracy theorist and was a Sandy Hook and Parkland denier.
  7. It'll never happen but after today I'd quite like to see 3-4-3 given a go. Just to see what happens. No idea if it'll work and it's a risk. At least we'll know. Begovic/Jackub Okoli - Lascelles - Nelson Aluko - James - Skipp/Winks - Thomas Fatawu - Daka - Mukasa Just give the front 3 licence to attack. Tell the rest a clean sheet is a priority.
  8. He hasn't played much in four years. He used to be deceptively quick, a bit like Wes Morgan. In 2021 he came 5th in the Newcastle squad for speed. But he was noticeably slow today. Could just be he's not match fit. We haven't really seen enough of him yet to judge.
  9. Not a fan of chucking on kids in a relegation battle or playing players out of position. However, he's so bad currently and offers such little end product it really wouldn't hurt. He's absolutely done as a footballer.
  10. It is relevant though. Cause people make excuses for him and over look his mistakes. Then Okoli gets all the blame. There's a reason after every game Okoli's thread has pages of posts but nobody posted in Nelson's thread for a month. Neither of them are good enough currently, which is why we've conceded too many goals. I agree Nelson is better. But they're not judged equally.
  11. He is not much better. Currently he's part of a defence that concedes on average 2 goals a game and he doesn't stand out at all. Someone pulled up the stats in a different thread. For defensive headers, interceptions, blocks and other stats per 90 mins - Okoli is better statistically. Nelson is just lucky he's an academy graduate. A lot of people bigged him up earlier in the season and can't accept he isn't living up to it, so make excuses for him, or ignore his mistakes. Nelson is much better on the ball though. They both need an experienced defender to help them.
  12. There's no way people are paying money for these lot. I don't fully understand PSR but you have to sell at a certain amount or it goes down as a negative. And even if they did meet our valuation, no one is matching the wages they're on. I don't understand how we sell some of this lot. I think we're stuck with them in League 1.
  13. You can't reason with KPFC but it gets to the point where a chant of "careful what you wish for' constantly for the 15th and 16th minutes (league winning years) would be welcome. It almost needs to get a little toxic in there. It's simple, not too negative, but gets the point across. They've cheered this on for years, now they can own it.
  14. He can't throw these weak characters under the bus too much publicly cause they'll down tools or throw their toys out their pram. But he's saying the right things here. Saying he expected more, we were out fought, didn't press enough, it wasn't good enough, we have to make things happen, etc.
  15. I wish we'd stop doing this. Blaming a manager because he's not picking players who've never really played before. Our players are s**t. Aluko has done nothing to show he deserves to start. Everyone wanted Marti sacked cause he wasn't playing Nelson earlier. Nelson's come into a defence that ships on average 2 goals a game and doesn't stand out at all. We actually conceded less goals when we had Faes and JV back there. Our squad is s**t. It's just taken far too long for a lot of our fans to realise.
  16. Makes me laugh on here Okoli makes a mistake and everyone's like: "he's s**t, get him off, sub him". Nelson makes a mistake and it's like: "Awww, poor baby, did you make a boo-boo. Come here, give us a hug." Okoli has better defensive stats than Nelson this year. I get Nelson's an academy graduate. But when are we going to have a proper conversation about him. He's part of one of the worst defences in the Championship and doesn't stand out at all.
  17. Our defence is always a bomb scare. It regularly concedes 3 or 4 goals in one half. They're s**t. They're not just going to magically get better. But now our midfield is actually trying to protect them. But at the expense of attacking. Which means boring football. But it's better than shipping on average 2 goals a game like they were.
  18. We've all complained that our defence is our weakest link and we need to shore it up. In this game we are. You have games like this - or games where you score 3 in one half and let in 4 in the other. Sometimes you need games like this.
  19. This isn't great, but we're not getting ripped open like we were a few weeks ago. We're a lot more compact. If we play like this and get a moment of individual brilliance from Fatawu or Mukasa I'll take it.
  20. One good thing about Winks is he will run back there and get the ball off Okoli to help him. He also goes back there and you can see him screaming at him telling him what to do with the ball. One of Okoli's and Nelson's biggest weakness' is they don't communicate with each other. I don't think I've ever seen either of them actually talking when the camera is zoomed in on them. Which for CB's is bad.
  21. This is definitely true. I have relatives who are hardcore Republicans. Anything to do with Russia/Ukraine or a conflict which might actually come back on them they run from. As soon as they think it's a war with Afghan/Vietnamese 'farmers', etc or someone far away with no real power. They're all for it. They're very propagandised. They don't have anything like the BBC. There's a reason why up until 2009 the media were banned from documenting soldier's caskets returning. Even Hollywood films lie. Films like Zero Dark Thirty, Lone Surviver, or American Sniper all distort the reality, or flat out lie. Talking about 9/11. I remember visiting USA pre and post in 9/11. A lot of Americans were terrified, even months after. They were genuinely scared, for the first time in most of their lives they felt vulnerable. It's funny, if you go there now; 'apparently' many of them didn't really approve, or had concerns with the Iraq/Afghan war. Which is a lie; it just didn't go how they thought it would. I will say though. USA are going after all China's allies and showing that China won't have your back if it kicks off.
  22. It's not all that surprising we haven't chucked on an unproven 20 year old attacker given we've been trying to close out the last 2 games.
  23. Don't think I've ever seen a bigger case of a players legs going. He just can't run. Can't believe he had the audacity to ask for the number 9 shirt at the start of this season. Has there ever been a bigger downgrade.
  24. The only player you can drop is Winks. Which is a shame now he's decided he's bothered. Skipp is the only midfielder who will read the game defensively. He makes blocks and covers defenders when they're out of position. Obviously we can't drop Mukasa.
  25. People will only remember the pass that Okoli made leading to the goal. But he made some really important blocks from cut backs in the first half. And scored. It wasn't all bad.
