Adding Cullen (a potential large chunk of our budget) and McCarthy is completely on Russell TBF. Not addressing the squad imbalance is a collective effort but I will never stop saying that Cullen was a completely unnecessary signing. We already have non-physical 10’s in Chaplin, Reid and a lesser extent Alves. We need physicality more than ever, yet other than Kanga, this has not been addressed in the slightest.

Totally agree about his odd ability at dismissing any of our/his flaws when discussing the “national press’ agenda”. I know that any manager has to have an ego, but the best ones are humble enough to know when you need to change tact/way of playing.

TBF, I actually prefer that than Rowett last season. To begin with, I liked Rowett’s brutal assessment but then it became clear that he offered zero accountability for the issues, under his watch. He had a lovely time in Lisbon whilst paid by us though.

I understand what you’re saying (I’m far from defending the club) but no other League 1 club also sells players for 20, 16 and 10m like we have this summer. I hate everything about our club but finally the wage structure should be more aligned to a bottom half Championship club which is what our current reality is for the foreseeable, that’s us some how getting out of this muck league.

Genuine question, if we do actually move on Souttar, Faes, Stephy and Hamza. Who would be left on a PL contract? Skipp? Thomas? (Who surely signed his extension on more modest wages).

Hamza is, and always will be a DM that can’t read the game. Often walks around yet some on here say his “work rate and physicality are his best strengths”. He can’t pass a ball, only ever makes one of those “big tackles” as often caught napping. That’s before you mention his disgustingly large salary and off-field antics. Get him gone.

Nope, not having those long diagonals. If he joins, he’ll have to have it drilled into him that he has to under hit passes into an inept Skipp, Thomas or Okoli.

I’ve been very vocal about the signing of Cullen. A completely unnecessary signing with us already having Reid, Chaplin and Alves all currently at the club. It’s hard to feel sorry for Martin when he has likely blown a very large chunk of our measly budget on the anonymous Cullen. It makes you think how awful Rudkin/Glover would be on FM, it’s borderline sabotage at this point.

It’s mental isn’t it? Imagine being his size, yet having the same physicality as James Maddison. He plays like the NBA players in Space Jam after they’ve had their talent taken away.

You beat me to it. Just get him away from the youngsters. Horrendous attitude, his time here has resulted in back to back relegations, he’s tainted. But above all, he’s pony and makes me miss CB’s under the Levein era.

Happy to DM but feel out of order naming and shaming but it really blew my mind when listened to it. They commented on booing at 2-0 down but doubled down on the fans leaving early and finished by saying “we stayed to support the team until the end. Whilst, they didn’t just stay they stayed and clapped them” 🤯

Awesome to hear. I’m looking forward to it gents. As for positivity, I listened to a different LCFC podcast and they were praising people staying late and clapping the team off. This type of nonsense sums up how passive and accepting of continued underperformance a large % of our fanbase are.

Call me old school but a CB should be able to defend first and foremost. The basics include decent marking, strong in the tackle and pretty good in the air. If you have good recovery pace, absolute bonus. Okoli has none of the above and a hideous modern day CB too! I actually preferred Paddy Kisnorbo at CB.

100% this. Some on here were easily pleased by offloading Winks/VK (still our player) and paying off Jannik. We’ve had another stinker of a window, Martin bringing in pathetic and feeble 10’s/reserve GK’s as they’re mates. We’ve haven’t been a consistently good side since Ndidi. Kante, Ndidi are modern DM’s that we should have never shied away from.

Throw in Corberan the summer before. I still think if he joined over the rancid Cooper, we’d have turned out so differently.

I think you’re being too kind to most managers. They have pre-determined substitutions and very rarely deviate away from this. In a nut shell, they are arrogant coaches rather than managers.

I’m not defending Martin but not sure Okoli has any strengths.

I thought that Souttar was given a raw deal here. Nope, he’s just bang average and I’m not having “he’s a good guy”. The lad has absolutely downed tools, people excused his pre-season performances but he’s been awful in all 3 competitive games.

Definitely a mates club forming. Any other manager doesn’t sign McCarthy and Cullen for starters.

Can we pay an Italian team to do a full medical!? They always find random issues, he must have some type of aging condition .

You won’t see me disagreeing but Martin isn’t faultless in all of this. Let’s repeat my theory, we get a half decent manager in….do they sign McCarthy, Cullen and co?! Simple answer is….NO!! The manager has clearly had his say with pretty much all the signings minus Bristic. We needed physical, athletic players yet we sign more weak, short players with zero resale.

Going from Fofana to Okoli within 24 months sums up our demise. It’s like driving a Rolls Royce and then hiring a clapped out Ford Sierra.
