Amortisation is over 5 years now, but as you say, the contract length is irrelevant once it's over that threshold. -

Or it tells you Fulham don't offer more than 2 year contracts to over 30's as seen with Willian. In fact Ream, 36, Contract expires: Jun 30, 2025 Last contract extension: Dec 29, 2023 Cairney, 33, Contract expires: Jun 30, 2025 Last contract extension: Jan 2, 2024 Willian, 35, Contract expires: Jun 30, 2024 Contract option: club option 1 year Last contract extension: Jul 17, 2023 Jimenez, 33, Joined: Jul 25, 2023 Contract expires: Jun 30, 2025 Contract option: club option 1 year So it doesn't mean we've overpaid, it means he'd prefer to get the security of a 3 year contract instead of 1 or 2 and continually adding a year which only benefits Fulham. -
Agree. Enzo probably wanted Italians through the door. Pushed for Casadei, tried for Sensi, and like you say the scouting will have been done under Enzos watch.
-
We're not. We're playing 343, only need 2. We got Winks, Hamza, Soumare, Ricardo, McAteer!
-
Though I agree with the sentiment of not paying stupid amounts for a shirt, given that wearing the shirt is a sign of support (rather than a style choice, generally) isn't buying a knockoff totally pointless? Wouldn't you be best served just keeping your money?
-
Well that remains to be seen.

Pepe is a free agent! -
And that's why we're paying 17mill for one and nothing for the other.
-
We can use both.

Yeah but we also had the likes of Doyle, Casadei and Yunus. None of which have been determined to be worth buying or getting back in. So it's not as simple as just buying young and getting quality. If you add Cannon, then that's 1 in 3 that are deemed good enough. And they were mainly loans. If we go out and buy 3 young players with last seasons strike rate, only 1 will be good enough. DCR might not be very exciting but he's at least shown something at Premier league level.

For the naysayers, think of it this way, he was Fulhams 3rd highest goalscorer. So if nothing else, we've hindered an opponent. Also in regards to him joining us over Fulham being down to wages, I'm pretty sure Fulham operate an over 30's policy like Chelsea used to whereby they only offer a single year once you've gone over 30 years old. Pretty sure they did that with Willian. So we could in fact have offered a lower wage but game him a longer contract.

We were all quite confident before that Mads would be the big one next, but there is a chance under Cooper he doesn't get to showcase one of his biggest strengths for a keeper with his distribution. It's going to be interesting to see if Coopers tactics utilise Mads kicking ability to the extent it was under Enzo.

We have Ricardo, Vesty, Coady, Winks, Vardy all have lots of Prem experience. Faes has a bit, Hamza has a decent amount. And then there's Ward! We may retain Wilf, so possibly a bit more there too. That's 4 or 5 starters all with experience. Don't really need any more do we? Interestingly Skysports lists Martin Keown (as well as others) in our squad, so that's loads of Premier League experience. https://www.skysports.com/leicester-city-squad

I am holding out hope that Cooper sorts him out and comes good. In the same way I'm holding out hope that Gareth Southgate somehow develops tactical nouse and get an England side to put on a display that doesn't put you into a coma.
-
Not that I'm advocating a move but given he's just been playing in Spains second tier I can't imagine he's on much.
-
Ah but don't forget he'll be playing for a better team than the one he provided 9 contributions to. So if you do the maths:- level above divided by step up in team multiplied by his previous ratio equals..... 73 goal contributions by Christmas.
-
If he does come here I'm afraid I'm going to have to insist that he wears shorts.
-
No sh!t?

Lemme stop you there.

Well what's his realistic market value and expectant wage? If he wants a crack at the premier league we don't have to offer him a big wage and if we're not keen on him in a years time sell him to a champ club for £5mill or something. Pull an Atletico!

"And that's how I was conceived"

Well the price is right. But that picture makes him look like a crack den regular, can't have it lad.
