  1. Nobody has ever radiated head boy/hall monitor energy as much as Horner.
  2. Piastri showing that he is prepared to hold in there vs Verstappen is an important box ticked. Easier said than done but it seems like that is the only way to get his respect.
  3. Piastri could absolute walk this, he seems very confident this year. Norris already in his own head and it looks like his one lap advantage is either gone or drastically reduced.
  4. It's a track he has always been good at but I am sure he will take a lot of confidence from being faster than Leclerc over several runs. Classy session from Hamilton.
  5. I hadn't thought about it like that, interesting comparison. Piastri has been impressive on Sundays rather than Saturday. Quali performance has been one very sided with Norris clearly quicker over a single lap. Monza just stood out to me - Norris said on DTS that if he had have expected it he wouldn't have let it happen but if the roles were reversed I am not sure Lando even tries that move. The one on Leclerc at Baku was great too. Perhaps both need to improve on the part the other is stronger at to be world championship quality.
  6. Out of interest what makes you think this? I can't think of him as anything other than a multi world champion, seems to have a killer instinct that outside of Verstappen most of the grid don't have (not sure if Lewis and Fernando really still have this). Iif their car is as fast as testing suggests I expect the biggest storyline this season will be the wheels totally coming off the Norris/Piastri relationship. I'd be surprised if both are still there next year.
  7. Maybe to try and turn a painful memory into a positive one, I'd suggest the Troy Deeney game was the beginning of our glorious era. If we'd have gone up that season we wouldn't have ended up with several key pieces of the puzzle (Mahrez, things really clicking for Vardy) and it really lit a fire under the team in the following season. The 4-2 home loss to Spurs to miss out on CL qualification again was the last chance to keep it going. That money might have helped a lot and without it the bill had come due. We did win the Charity Shield a few months later and had the Europa run so I'd consider it to be the 1-0 loss in Rome.
  8. Weren't we also considering Rod Fanni before we signed N'Golo?
  9. Not to go all 'modern football' but the sport is absolutely full of these types of one dimensional wide' player who can have one good game in six. When it works it's great but they are often taken out of the game by the opposition and they offer very little else when they can't come inside. Mavididi definitely fits that mold.
  10. Homefield definitely helps. I do think a rule change is needed to try and cut out fake slides - that's not just Mahomes but a fair few other players too and has been happening more often this season. I doubt they are likely to pass any rules that might make it easier for defenders though.
  11. 3 out of 4 really good games this weekend, last night was great. I do think Barkley should win the MVP award but he clearly won't. Ravens made some horrible mistakes - Jackson was clearly the best player even with the fumble but that won't likely be the narrative. I do like this Bills team though and hope they can beat KC next week. I've felt this way over a few years but this weekend definitely made me realise it - I haven't disliked a team as much as the Chiefs since the mid 90's Fergie Manchester United. At this point I'm just wanting anyone to beat them and the threepeat would be horrendous.
  12. Weird how opinions can be so different. I think Brady has been so bad on commentary that I'm already forgetting how great he was as a player. It's like watching a game with someone who only has a passing knowledge of the sport which is bizarre.
  13. I don't know how on earth you stop that. Sell out to stop the run and you get diced up by Jackson. Stop Jackson and Henry will takeover. They have some really dumb losses this year including to the Browns and the Raiders but it looks like they have sorted their defence out since then.
  14. Everyone and their dog was on the Chargers going into this one, I didn't see a single prediction for a Texans win. So naturally the Chargers are Chargering. Even Spurs would be envious of this.
  15. Rams game has been moved to Arizona, unsurprisingly. Can't imagine it will be easy for the players to be focused on the game with what is going on in LA though.
  16. Dom Taylor lost his spot in this year's tournament as he failed a drugs test so they must do. Not sure how that works - imagine it is a random selection rather than all of them.
  17. He is paid 42 million to do literally one job - carry the ball over the goal line. Having said that, it's up to the coaches to set the culture of the team so players being dumb reflects on them too.
  18. Jonathan Taylor fumbling the Colts playoff chances celebrating too soon on the 1 yard line was my highlight yesterday. Colts didn't score again and Denver scored 24 unanswered. Not looking like there will be much jeapordy in the playoff race this year - Seahawks/Rams is probably the only close run thing to play for now other than seedings.
  19. Quite surprised the extent to which Russell defended himself given his position in the grand prix drivers association. Interesting his comments about 21 too because at the time I think a lot of the younger drivers weren't bothered and were friends of Max having known him for a long time. Both Norris and Russell seem to have changed their tune a fair bit this year - maybe because they are less threatened by Lewis nowadays but also because they have had more first hand experience competing against Verstappen and know how frustrating that can be. It is good drama though, and like all good villains they are the lead characters in their own stories.
  20. Can we clone Jameis Winston and have him quarterback all 32 teams? The sport is so much more fun with a bit of risk taking. 497 yards passing, four TDs but with three interceptions and two of those were pick sixes. Shame he will probably lose his job to Watson next season.
  21. Five managers, a horrible accident, two top six finishes, an FA Cup, a european semi final, Charity Shield win, a relegation and a title win/promotion. What a crazy seven years.
  22. This is a nice idea in theory but I don't think it would work in practice. Players already have far more job security and earn more money than managers which makes commanding respect from the squad difficult enough as it is. Add in a yearly rolling contract and they'd just be treated like a supply teacher. If a manager did do well you'd also expose yourself even more to them being poached (at least we got compo for Enzo) or having to give them a long contract anyway as they would have all the leverage. Fanbases wouldn't stand for clubs letting a talented manager walk away either.
  23. I would be more worried if they didn't want to go on a night out together. I haven't really felt that the players weren't up for the challenge but when we get results it usually seems in spite of the manage not because of. We have had a cooper out thread on here before a ball was kicked, so hardly surprising the squad think he is crap too.
  24. I'd agree and I think Daniels took the league by storm and looked so comfortable immediately. He hasn't looked the same since the injury though so it could be closer than it should be.
  25. I'm a Bo-liever after last night. The best thing about this season as a Broncos fan is seeing Nix getting gradually better each week. He learns so quickly and rarely makes the same mistakes twice, just seems really smart. With the Bengals losing the playoffs are definitely in sight. Good to see the Bills deliver their now customary regular season win over the Chiefs - they just need to figure out how to do it in the playoffs now!
