  1. From what has been said by Chris Whitty today, who knows more about this than anyone on here I'm sure, it seems that there was a remarkable underreaction.
  2. No idea, I was a frontline worker. You?
  3. House arrest
  4. Doubt it. I saw Filbert pull up to the KP in a 1984 Austin Maestro.
  5. Holiday is pretty rubbish. Just over 3 weeks when Bank Holidays are taken into account.
  6. Is it a horror story where the world suddenly turns vegan?
  7. Of course it's real. The mistake people are making is they're assuming the number in brackets after the name is their shirt number, when obviously it's their age.
  8. Did you have your two front teeth pulled out? No? Plastic!
  9. Says the man who bought Foxy Peter.
  10. Unforgivable. I apologise
  11. I think the big tell that they will be safe is their hugely superior goal difference. Kind of turns the 10 pt deduction to a 9 pt one.
  12. People on here have said far worse about compensation they've been offered by football clubs.
  13. It seems that the EPL or the FA have said, "let everyone play a few games, see how well Everton do, and then deduct them a number of points that drags them into the relegation battle, but not quite, since the teams who came up are so bad."
  14. Some people might think this sentence is quite long, especially if I were to use really big words such as antidisestablishmentarianism, which my spell check suggests is not even a word, quite erroneously, as it is commonly thought to be the longest word in the English language, even though it is actually pneumonoultramicrosvopicsilicovol, which once again my spell check is underlining in red and so therefore is equating unequivocally that neither is this a word that is found is usage by the denizens of the British Isles and indeed much of the world formerly colonised by the erstwhile mentioned people, renowned for their vast empire on which the sun never set, but which is now a mere shadow of its once influential power as a world state. But I digress
  15. The important thing to remember is this... Hamas DOES NOT = Palestinians Israeli Government DOES NOT = Jews
  16. Job Interviewer: How do you explain this 4 year gap in your CV? Interviewee: That's when I went to Yale. Job Interviewer: Well congratulations, you're hired! Interviewee: Thanks, I really need this yob.
  17. Just finishing off The Long Cosmos by Stephen Baxter & Terry Prachett. 5th and final book in the Long Earth series and I've loved it. Essentially humankind learns to travel between parallel Earths by "stepping", an endless chain of differing earths that have developed separately and so are very slightly different. However, it's only our earth that has humans on it, though some earths have humanoid creatures living on them. It's an interesting idea, well worked. What would humanity do, given an infinite space to easily expand into? Would governments lose their grip on their people? Would wars stop, when it is so easy to just "step" away? How would markets cope with a sudden infinite source of raw materials. The world's the two authors create are imaginative and mostly very different for our earth and the creatures that inhabit them are weird and wonderful. I've basically hoovered up this whole series in one go (I read the first book, then saw a box set in The Works for £10), and loved every page of it. Recommended.
  18. I wonder if the government realise that if they manage to stop the small boats there will then be a glut of poorly cobbled together light aircraft crash landing over (and possibly into) the white cliffs of Dover.
  19. On the bright side, that's only £18.75 an hour.
  20. Weird how all commentators have said wafer, but a silent, but nonetheless not inconsiderable minority, have voted teacakes.
  21. Can we have a whip round everyone? I need £20m...
  22. I'm always amazed at how many TV pundits have Leicester City connections. Gary Lineker Martin O'Neill Martin Keown Dion Dublin Pontius Kaamark Robbie Savage Emile Heskey Alan Smith Steve Claridge About 10 years ago all these were regular football pundits, not so much now.
  23. I've often wondered why people imprison cats in their houses just to satisfy their own selfish, and misguided, desire for affection. Your cat doesn't love you! It just wants, to go outside and kill stuff!
  24. I've never met your grammar, so how could I make her laugh?
