Dean Smith was a disaster, temporary or not - the bloke should've been nowhere near the club. Definitely more a slight on the board and the self-imposed restrictions they ended up placing on themselves rather than him, but he was way out of his depth and dropped points in a couple of very favourable games. Sven also, god love him – was shit, wasn't he. Loan team of 10/11 was fun and he made some important signings but if Nige didn't clean up his mess there's every chance he and his tenure are looked at very very differently. Pearson getting us straight so quickly definitely prevented Sven's time here being very damaging.

I don't even expect a manager to come out and openly criticise the ownership, but I always find the tone of the comments they make really weird and a bit much. By all means talk about a working relationship, projects, ambition etc. But if you gave me one guess which club in world football the quote "You feel comfortable around him, there’s definitely no fear, but a lot of respect. He’s got a big aura. You can be yourself" came out of with regards to ownership I don't think I'd need another go. The local as well as club media don't help of course, they definitely fish for this type of stuff.
