Not sure how you work out £5.5m then was worth £9.5m now. The guy was our record signing at the time by nearly double the previous record. One of the reasons with the Akinbiyi disappointment was the chances he missed. We were making chances for him, especially in that second season, but he just kept missing. There’s one infamous game against Liverpool I remember where he should have had a hat-trick but missed three sitters basically.

I’m delighted with that. I’d have a team kicking shit out of us down as a loss all day long, especially given it was a team that (to put it politely) is in transition. They ground it out though. They stood up to the opposition physically, especially the young kids. Yeah Monga was quiet, but he stood up to someone at times literally kicking lumps out of him. We also defended well especially Hamza who I thought would get rinsed by Campbell beforehand. Obviously still a little to work to, especially personnel wise before the window closes, but I guess I’m just delighted to see a bit of fight.
