I know it's often said but I really can't see him doing Saudi. I'm convinced he went to Villa so he didn't have to have family upheaval. He always spoke openly about being family first etc. Perhaps they're all a bit older now and easier to move but I really can't see it.

I'm just talking about from Sky's perspective. It's another chance for them to fill the pre game stuff with easy content around the owners. Also there's so many TV slots to fill now we're naturally going to be on loads. I think people just need to realise 3pm is now what 5:30 or 12:30 was a few years ago.

I have a question on this, how do you resist the temptation when you look at a FAT transfer budget just waiting to be spent I think i've just got through my biggest achievement on a save of only signing 3 players in a window and currently have £40m left in the pot.

This was a point I made earlier in pre season, it's alright having 6 or 7 very talented young home grown players around.... until they get poison in their ears from the 'pros' and watch them acting like clowns and not caring..... learned behaviour. We need to get the bad eggs out before they corrupt the future.

I'm less bothered about these agreements on transfer fees. The one in July is entirely different, it's secured against future income that only materialises if we are immediately promoted. If we're not then it's secured against parachute payments and then.... property...

I mentioned on here a few years back i'd been told he doesn't buy into any strength and conditioning work, to the point where he cancelled the redevelopment of the gym at Cobham when he was there, basically says players can do that in their own time. Makes more and more sense now to be honest. Every team he manages looks slow, they're easily bullied off the ball and they fall to pieces as soon as anything goes wrong.

Certainly seems like it. I wondered also whether it's just this absolute desperation to sign people who have played in the division before. Like everyone is so terrified of getting relegated they think the only solution is people who know the league! I'm sure there's plenty of creative accounting involved too. I wouldn't be surprised if we're now obliged to do Leeds and West Ham a favour either now, in Jan or if we're promoted!

Feel like the majority of the Prem have just given up on scouting, not sure what's going on this summer.

There's a lot of good sides in 2 Bundesliga these days, whilst they're not getting tough games week in week out, there's plenty of tough challenges. We need two or three attacking options in the next season or two, versatile ones like this work for me, he's not going to be first choice striker.
