Not a chance. That success is in the bank forever. I genuinely thought we were going to be relegated in 2017 though and that would have tainted it to an extent because we would have become a laughing stock and a future pub quiz question as relegated champions. Our demise since has been so rapid, so shambolic and so utterly avoidable that I feel cheated out of what might have been and what should have been. It feels las if we our paying the price for our success now. The title win so unlikely that it was created with some kind of Faustian pact and the debt is now being called in. Or as if Wes Morgan had a painting in the attic slowly turning into Wout Faes.

No because historically we have always been a big fish in a small pond at this level. We just need to cleanse ourselves of this squad of horrors. Once we have done that, I don't know what the future holds but will most likely revert to mean.

I think the biggest difference between the 2023 campaign and this one is that Enzo managed to arrest the malaise that hung over the club from the Rodgers relegation team straight away. Marti has failed to do this and although I still maintain we have much more quality than almost any Championship squad we have no team spirit. We have a team, not worthy of the name, that is just going through the motions with players wanting to get this season over with so they can sod off.

Erm Exactly. Maybe it's misguided, maybe its shortsighted, I wasn't advocating for it. I was simply making the point that the criticism that people wanting relegation were not proper fans was unfair.

That's unfair. I don't want L1, but any that do see it as part of a process of renewal. We all want what us best for the club.

I think I know what OP means. L1 was the nadir last time. The point at which we stopped falling and began an upward trajectory again. I don't want L1, but it feels like we have further to fall and I'm keen to get this part over with too.
