Am I being too pessimistic for the new season?
Les-TA-Jon replied to SkidsFox's topic in Leicester City Forum
Southampton in decent shape - have had Will Still in place early. Have sellable assets. Ipswich could be good too but risk of losing McKenna? Sheffield Utd got 90 pts and should have gone up Wildcards of Birmingham (111pts and momentum from last season) and Wrexham. We are the least settled of this lot. Obviously question marks over manager and squad is currently quite unbalanced, plus a host of players on final year of contract and no real investment in the club but there’s too many variables between now and end of the window but I don’t think Top 2 is a safe bet -
Is there any evidence either way that the link between the squad and Top was only through Vardy?

Ruud Van Nistelrooy - Sacked - Official
Les-TA-Jon replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
At some point this week RVN would have genuinely needed to know if he should be flying back to the UK or not. That could have genuinely prompted this. -

I mean, that's hardly controversial is it? I imagine RVN was in europe holidaying or at home or whatever. Pre-season is due to start on Monday. So today/this weekend is the time to travel back to the UK. Video call to save everyone the bother of travelling makes sense. -
They seem pretty confident. They've said they're on course to have the largest ever revenue in the Championship for a non-parachute payment club.
-
Book value of around £15m, so no point in selling unless it's £30m+ I don't think anyone pays that this summer.
-
From what I can tell it was 26th June in 2024. It's 26th June this year too
-
Maybe it's just slow season because lots of executives, players and agents are on holidays, but I'd have thought there'd be up to 5 PL teams sniffing around
-
When though? At the end of the PL season, when the club seemingly can't afford to sack RVN? Or for this coming season, giving BBM the preseason and window and then potentially having to start again with someone else mid-season, repeating the same mistakes again?

Stephy Mavididi (no real rumour, some clubs "interested.")
Les-TA-Jon replied to Tuna's topic in Transfer Talk
Book value of approx £4m I don’t think we have the money or the recruitment system to rely on a complete firesale but unfortunately we pretty much have to consider sales for any of our players, so long as the fee is ‘correct’ -
Were any of them 32 and with 1 year left on their deal though?
-
Book value of approx £2-3m. Will Rangers pay that much? Might have to accept a small loss, to get the wages gone, but we can't do that with everyone...
-
If RVN isn't the man for next season, then I'm not sure his No.2 going is much of a loss?
-
Why the heck do Cardiff even want BBM?

Premier League has charged LCFC with an alleged breach of PSR

Thought I'd missed some news just then... -
Shocking to think there's only 3 or 4 names on that list that give you any level of excitement or offer any sort of quality

I thought Ranieri retired permanently?
Les-TA-Jon replied to Sionnach gorm's topic in Leicester City Forum
To be fair we fired both Ranieri and Rodgers when threatened with relegation. -
Could be anywhere from Oct to Apr that we actually get a punishment...

Being a bit slow for news, I had a trawl through old topics.
Les-TA-Jon replied to Flappit's topic in Leicester City Forum
Every season I always like to look at who is bottom of the PL after 19 games or so. And then you say out loud "That team is going to finish mid table and then win the league next season" It sounds absolutely mad, but it's what we did. -
Point is, we can't do this with every player - otherwise there's no money for replacements.
-
My calculations - it's all internet guesswork of course. 8 out of 25 players with 1 year left too. I think we'll struggle. We've been terrible at shifting players for a long while. Rumours of new relegation clauses being inserted into contracts, but then how, and why would players have accepted them? If that's the case that there's big reductions in wages, then maybe it strengthens our position on trying to get rid of players with 1 year left. But it's not just about getting a transfer fee that matches the book value to avoid a loss, it's also about getting a fee that'll create profit, to reinvest in replacements. It's hard to see who will be paying more than the above figures...

Wout to Monaco (loan with ~€8m option, official)
Les-TA-Jon replied to CloudFox's topic in Transfer Talk
I'm sure he'll be desperately keen to leave - he must know he's not liked. -
Weird isn't it, especially when clubs happily pay for signings and player wages
-
I think unless he wants a big final pay day, he'll prioritise whoever can give him PL football.

Why is 2nd June now seen as some magical line in the sand? Most people can see that we take our time and that clearly, the club needs to identify, talk to and potentially negotiate with multiple candidates. That takes time. Also, don't a lot of people predict that we have to wait until July to knock any costs into next accounting period?
