If he plays again then Ruud will lose a lot of the goodwill he has from the fans. If he can’t see that then I don’t see how he’s going to succeed in management. I dislike hyperbole, and I’ve sense checked myself here, and still believe it’s as cut and dried as that.

Why??? He should just say “yeah that wasn’t the best performance” and never play him again. Defending him lets the fans and the squad know that failure is acceptable

I absolutely agree with you…. Usually this would be my point too. However with Ward it’s astonishing that he’s in the 1st team squad, let alone played… and that message has to be made to the people picking him. But, however much abuse / booing / displeasure Ward is getting, Rudkin (and now Top) should be getting more.

Any hint of “Board out” or “Rudkin out” chants??? I couldn’t hear anything on TV??

No. You naturally play differently trying to not expose your rubbish keeper. You also have no idea what he’s going to do so you try to compensate for him. It destroys the plan, it causes confusion, it causes individuals to make errors as they aren’t quite where they would be with a decent keeper. It’s a team game, with fine margins between finely tuned teams…. To have someone so shockingly bad in that machine effects every part of how it runs

He attacks the ball really well, makes loads of interceptions, but if it doesn’t come off then he gets rolled and he’s the last man… so it becomes a chance. He’s also reasonably tidy on the ball but as a CB gets concerted pressure and sometimes robbed of possession, again leading to a chance. I think he needs someone covering him, and that’s not always possible at CB…. So… would he not make a decent CDM??? Blood and thunder run around winning the ball back and laying it off??

Superb effort, desire and press. Yeah mildly chaotic, but the only thing Ruud could have wished for in 48 hours is desire. The patterns, the plan, the quality will come with coaching. Happy times, I feel like we’ve got our Leicester back!!!

Big improvement in intensity, desire, putting a foot in. He’s not going to make the players world beaters in 48 hours but there’s such an obvious improvement.
