We’ll get the Patson Daka against Spartak Moscow turn up in the second half and win 4-3.

Russell Martin, please save us 🙏🏻

No worries, completely agree with everything you’ve said mate. Many on here have mentioned those bunch of names over the years, unfortunately we now find ourselves back in a position where they’ve become unrealistic again. Schmidt was linked with the Leicester job ages ago, of possibilities last summer, he would’ve been right near the top of the list for me. We missed the boat on Hutter during his Bundesliga period. If you want a more intense pressing style, it might be a tad early for him, but I’d consider John Mousinho at Pompey. Statistically 3rd in the Championship for PPDA, while he has also shown he can be flexible in terms of styles.
-
This style would be my number 1 choice above all. Even though they’ve dropped off lately, Bournemouth under Iraola have been one of the best teams to watch in the Premier League this season, intense pressing, players grafting and giving 100%, imo it’s the style that is most fun to watch. No chance of getting him now, but I mentioned Matthias Jaissle when Rodgers left. His Salzburg team were incredibly fun to watch because they pressed intensely and busted their asses. Give me someone like them over a Russell Martin type any day.

The curse of Ding Junhui strikes again. Unreal turnaround from Higgins though, from dropping outside the Top 16 in September, to now going to The Crucible as 3rd seed.

Southampton under Martin. 1st - Passes Per Sequence 1st - 10+ Pass Sequences 1st - Build up attacks And the 2nd slowest in the league for direct speed, funnily enough only Hull City under Rosenior were worse. The more stats I look at, the more I’m leaning towards Danny Rohl or we look abroad.
-
Last season in the Championship. 10+ pass sequences… 2) Leicester City - 875 1) Southampton - 1042 Martin ball would have our fans reaching for the bleach.

As I mentioned in this thread last week, possession is all well and good in the Championship, but recent history suggests it’s probably not the right formula in the Premier League, especially when it comes to newly promoted teams. This was one of our biggest problems this season, despite being tippy tappy last season under Enzo, we were also the most effective team in the Championship for counter attacks, because of course we had Fatawu and Mavididi. We have gone completely against that element this season by constantly fielding our slowest attackers. We have to find a manager who can set a team up that is capable of threatening on fast breaks/counter attacks, otherwise we’ll just continue to go round in circles, either yo-yoing between divisions or becoming a mid-table Championship team.
-
I’ll post these graphs again that compare Premier League and Championship playing styles… More Premier League teams are drifting towards fast & direct, the Championship must follow suit. If fast & direct becomes the norm in the Premier League, you simply can’t appoint the likes of Russell Martin as a long term project. Unless he changes his ways, his style will become obsolete in the Premier League. As it’s Alan Nixon, despite him getting Ayew right, fingers crossed this is just a boring Sunday bullshit rumour. Part of me thinks Martin will either end up at Rangers or Norwich. But despite what my head says, another part of the brain thinks he is the most inevitable manager in Leicester history.

The ‘Alex Smithies’ player of the season award.

Spam voting for Danny Ward will probably lead to him getting a new contract. -
Supposedly we were interested in the summer… However The Athletic relay that Davide Ancelotti intends to leave at the end of the season. The 35-year-old is believed to be keen to start his own coaching career, and this could be the season he does so.

A 5th World Title incoming for Selby if he plays like this in Sheffield.

If we want to focus on bringing through the likes of Nelson, Alves, Evans, Monga, then we really have to follow a Sunderland type model. Mowbray and now Le Bris have been perfect for them, two managers with history of giving youth a chance. We desperately need a manager who will do similar.

🎵 Don’t worry about a thing, Championship is gonna be alright 🎵 … Unless Russell Martin is our manager

Thanks for that transfer info mate. Their squad very much looks a mixed bag tbf, seeing Rohl rely on numerous players in their 30’s was my only concern really. Numerous managers out there who have a better track records when it comes to youth. But Rohl certainly has a lot going for him.

Just awaiting an essay from @Leicesterpool on how Harry Winks should improve his carbon footprint.
-
This guy hasn’t been arsed since Enzo left. Bin him off in the summer 🤞🏻
-
Would be interesting to see what style Rohl would bring if he was appointed, Sheffield Wednesday have been one of the more direct teams in the league under him. He is also extremely tactically flexible, he changes formation frequently. Only concern I’d have is his history with youth. Sheffield Wednesday have one of the oldest teams in the division, while he’s fielded some of the oldest starting 11’s in the Championship this season.

I wish for Russell Martin 80% possession football against Oxford United as we lose 1-0.

Roll on the Russell Martin era.
